For those who enjoy spice, level 2 is reported to be comfortably manageable, while milder levels are recommended for individuals less accustomed to spicy food. The Mara Hong broth is highlighted as a great base for various carbohydrates like rice cake, glass noodles, and ramen, all of which are said to taste excellent in the broth. While one reviewer found the mushroom flavor in the broth a bit strong, they noted it improves when stir-fried.

The restaurant offers a variety of vegetable options with generous portions. For the stir-fried dishes, there is a minimum order requirement of $20, encouraging customers to add more fillings. It's also advised that level 3 spice for the stir-fry is significantly spicier. One customer found the beef added to their Mara Hong to be chewy when in the broth but better when stir-fried.

In summary, PIXIU MALA HONGTANG provides a self-service Chinese hot pot experience with a focus on flavorful and generously portioned soup. It's a recommended spot for spice lovers, with different spice levels available to suit various preferences. The restaurant offers a good selection of carbohydrates and vegetables for the hot pot, with a stir-fry option available for those looking for a different preparation method, keeping in mind the minimum order for stir-fried dishes and the intensity of the higher spice levels.

This restaurant operates with a self-service approach, thoughtfully placing everything you need in convenient locations for easy access. The ambiance was delightful and added to the overall experience. While I enjoyed my meal here, I personally prefer the nearby Yin Tang for its wider variety of menu options that suit my taste. That said, I really appreciated that this place is generous with their soup portions, unlike Yin Tang. The soup here was flavorful and satisfying! For spice lovers, I found their level 2 spice to be comfortably manageable, but if you’re not used to spicy food, I’d recommend starting at a milder level. Overall, it’s a great spot with a few standout features!

All of the different type of carb they had like rice cake, glass noodle, ramen and more all tasted great in the Mara hong. The mushroom tasted a little strong in the broth but it is better when stir fried. I recommend level 2 for the Mara hong since it’s spicy but not too much. I also add in beef with mine but it was chewy. It’s tasted better when stir fried. I really like all the veggie options and they were generous with portion. For the stir fried dish, they asked us to at least spend $20 for it by adding in more fillings. Level 3 spice level is super spicy for the stir fried so be warn.

This restaurant is near H-Mart in Carrollton, so it is a good choice to dine in after grocery shopping. This place is quite new and clean. Th only difference compared to other restaurants is that the bill (including tips) is paid at the beginning. Food is yummy. Malatang is Buffet style, and the charge based on the weight.

Instruction is you go in, grab a bowl and tongs, and fill the bowl with whatever you want. Then they will weigh it, ask if you want meat, and how you'd like your food prepared. Spice level #2 is acceptable, unless you'd like to struggle while eating. Soup broth is strong, flavorful - I really liked it. Skewers were 99 cents each, and everything else weighed. You can dine for two with a great size bowl of mala soup. There's dry hotpot options as well. Sweet and sour pork was bland on the inside, too sour on the outside. I liked the crispiness. Not recommended. Service is excellent. The lady was very sweet & asked about your allergy to food and such.

Been to this place a couple of times. I really love their Maratang on a cold gloomy day. If you are having it for the first time, I wouldn't recommend any cilantro leaves into the mix and ask for the yellow pickled radish if they forgot to serve it. Spicy level 1 might be a good choice for the beginners.
