Pingpong Intro

Pingpong is a Chinese restaurant located at 3322 N Broadway, Chicago, IL 60657, USA. They can be contacted at (773) 281-7575 or +1 773-281-7575.

According to customer reviews, Pingpong is known for the quality and speed of its food. The dishes are described as "great" and come out "really fast." Additionally, the cocktails are noted to be tasty and presented nicely.

However, some customers have reported issues with the service. One reviewer recounted an experience where, despite being seated without a reservation just before the dinner rush (which was appreciated), they were not informed of a one-hour time limit for their table. This lack of communication led to the server frequently attempting to clear plates before the diners had finished eating and repeatedly checking for payment shortly after delivering the check, creating a feeling of being rushed. The reviewer felt this was "subversive" due to the lack of clear explanation until directly asked.

Despite the service concerns, the food is consistently praised. Customers found the food to be "very good" and "totally worth it," even though it is considered "a bit pricey." The portion sizes are described as "very reasonable." This suggests that Pingpong offers quality Chinese cuisine that justifies its price point for many patrons.

In summary, Pingpong is a Chinese restaurant in Chicago that offers delicious and quickly served food, along with tasty and well-presented cocktails. However, potential diners should be aware of reports regarding service that made some customers feel rushed, possibly due to time constraints on tables that are not clearly communicated upon seating. Despite this, the quality of the food seems to be a significant draw for many, who find it worth the price and plan to return for more.

Food was great and came out really fast. I give this restaurant a lower rating because the service was very bizarre. Hostess sat us without a reservation, which was very kind, considering it was just before dinner rush. However, she did not let us know that we could only use the table for an hour. Without this being explained, our server kept coming to our table to take our plates even when we weren’t finished. She came around to us around every 10 minutes. It was not even close to closing and we felt like we were being rushed out. She checked twice after two minutes to see if we put our card out to pay, when she just gave us the check. Had someone communicated the rush to us or that the table was reserved at a certain time, they would not have gotten this rating. It was so subversive. We did not get a clear explanation for why they were rushing us until I asked flat out. If you couldn’t seat us or if we had a limited time, it would have been nice to let us know. Maybe we could have gotten a reservation or come back another time.

The food was very good. I will say it's a bit pricey but totally worth it and the portions they give are very reasonable. Cocktails are tasty and presented nicely I'll definitely be back to try more items!

Tom yum soup is Gucci. Nice little easily edible veggies in there, and shrimps without tails. Crab Rangoon was underwhelming. Not enough filling. Good that it wasn't too greasy. Orange beef was fine. That iced tea is standardly good. Super friendly and attentive staff. Gratuity reference on the check is wild. Nice atmosphere.

Reallly such a lovely place and the food is to die for, like eating in a cafe from 1930s Shanghai in a Wong Kar Wai film. Highly recommended

Disappointed in the food quality the last few months. I just picked up an order and had specific instructions for the Singapore noodle to be made without pork or shrimp. When I started eating I noticed both pork and shrimp in the meal. Unfortunately this is the third time my food has been made incorrectly. The first time I thought it was a mistake due to the restaurant being busy and the second time I chalked it up to a new chef as the food was very oily. This time however I’m just disappointed. I think I may just need to give up and find another restaurant.
