Phoenix Chinese Café

After making a delivery for this place I decided to give it a try since I noticed they had lunch specials. I ordered the Orange Beef with an egg drop soup and they were kind enough to give me both the egg rolls and Rangoon since it was my first time eating here! The food itself was good and fresh, like you could tell the egg roll was recently made! The portions for a lunch special felt just right, left me satisfied and I'm usually a heavy eater. The waitress was attentive and made sure my needs were met before giving me the peace to enjoy my meal. They have the QR menu scan thing but THANKFULLY they also brought me an actual menu to look at. Big plus! Will definitely come again in the future!

This is the first Chinese restaurant in San Antonio that I’ve found serving halal food, making it a fantastic option for those who want to enjoy authentic Asian cuisine with halal choices. The owner, manager, and staff were all incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. We visited for a group dinner and were treated to a delicious spread of diverse meat options. The Mongolian beef and shrimp dishes were outstanding, and the soup was flavorful and comforting. The restaurant’s location is also a plus—conveniently near the SAT airport and Northpark Mall, making it easy to stop by whether you’re in the area or just passing through. I’m excited to have discovered this hidden gem and will definitely be returning!

Yesterday, my friends and I visited Phoenix Chinese Café for dinner, and it turned out to be a memorable experience. The interior of the restaurant immediately caught my attention with its elegant Eastern aesthetic, highlighted by beautifully placed Buddha statues that created a calm and inviting atmosphere. We were warmly greeted by the owners, which set a positive tone for the evening. After being seated, we were handed the menu, and I was pleasantly surprised by the affordability of the dishes, especially compared to other restaurants in San Antonio. The owner graciously assisted us in selecting items and mentioned that their establishment had been recognized for offering the best Cantonese cuisine in the city—an impressive distinction that enhanced our expectations. We ordered a variety of dishes, starting with hot and sour soup, which was the perfect comfort food for the gloomy, rainy winter evening. Next, we tried the cheese rangoon, house special fried rice, jalapeño beef, and their signature Phoenix special fried chicken. Each dish was extraordinary. The fried chicken was unlike anything I’ve ever tasted—crispy yet beautifully infused with a flavorful sauce that soaked into the chicken, enhancing its richness. The jalapeño beef was tender, juicy, and paired wonderfully with the fried rice. Speaking of the fried rice, it was simply outstanding, easily the highlight of the meal. I could visit this café repeatedly just for the fried rice alone—it was that good. What truly lifted the experience was the exceptional hospitality from the owners. Their attentiveness and care made the dining experience feel personal and meaningful, something I have rarely encountered in San Antonio.

A wide selection of dishes and options found here. Interior was clean, well lit, and nicely decorated. Service was good as 3 different people checked in on me while dining. Food was good and the portions were filling.

This place is a hidden GEM! We ate here for the first time today…the food was AWESOME! We ordered the Peking Duck 3- Courses, #31 Stir Fried Shrimp w/walnuts, #103 Yang Zhou Style Fried Rice, #9 Fried Chicken Wings, Crab Soup, and Egg Rolls! The food did not disappoint …it was Amazing!!! The owner, Taz and his staff were attentive and personable - this is our new go-2 place.😋
