About Pho House

Pho House, located at 51 E Main St, Avon, CT 06001, USA, serves Vietnamese cuisine to local users. While it may be listed under a Chinese Restaurant platform, Pho House specializes in Vietnamese dishes, with pho being a prominent offering.

The restaurant is situated in the Old Avon Village plaza with ample parking. The interior is described as "nice," with one reviewer noting it previously appeared to be a frozen yogurt spot. The hostess/waitress was found to be "nice" by one customer, while another described the service as "excellent." However, one review mentioned slow food service despite the restaurant being relatively empty and instances of needing to flag down the waitress for sauces, napkins, and water refills.

A notable point is the absence of a kids menu, although the staff was accommodating in providing a small bowl for sharing. The "pork and shrimp spring rolls" appetizer was well-received, described as "very good and fresh" with a peanut butter sauce. The "Pho House Special," priced at $20.95, is a large bowl containing rice noodles, medium rare beef, brisket, and meatballs. While the flavor was considered "good," one reviewer found the broth to be "very oily" and added additional condiments for more flavor. Another reviewer found the pho broth to be "perfectly made" and not needing extra condiments.

Other dishes mentioned include "rice and noodle dinner," which was rated as "excellent." However, the "Vegetarian Egg roll" was noted as being "over cooked and bland." One reviewer found the prices to be "very high" compared to other Vietnamese restaurants they had visited.

Based on the mixed reviews, Pho House offers a pleasant environment and a menu of Vietnamese classics. However, service quality and food consistency may vary. There is no information available regarding any specific promotional offers.

3.5 stars. I love Asian cuisine. I guess I'm sort of a connoisseur when it comes to it lol. I had this place bookmarked for a while. Finally went for a late lunch recently. It's located in the Old Avon Village plaza. There were plenty of parking. The interior was nice; it looked like it used to be a frozen yogurt spot. The hostess/waitress was nice. Unfortunately, there is no kids menu, but we were able to get a small bowl to share our noodles with our toddlers. The food came out slowly, considering we were only 1 out of 3 tables. We ordered pork and shrimp spring rolls as an appetizer; it was very good and fresh with the peanut butter sauce. For my meal, I ordered the Pho House Special; it's $20.95 and has rice noodles, medium rare beef, brisket, and meatballs. This bowl was huge! The flavor was good but the broth was very oily. I added more hoison, chili oil, and siracha for more flavor. We didn't have any sauces and napkins, so we had to flag down the waitress a couple of times. Also, they never refilled our waters. I noticed the prices were very high compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. With everything factored together, I gave them 3.5 stars total.

Service was excellent and food came out quickly. Pho broth was perfectly made and really didn’t need any condiments. Rice and noodle dinner were also excellent. The only negative was the Vegetarian Egg roll was over cooked and bland.

Excellent quality food and very friendly. Family owned and ran. Will definitely be back. If you're calling ahead with an order make sure you're calling the right place as there is another Pho restaurant very close by.

The Pho House makes off the charts delicious Pho! A small spoonful of their house made chili oil stirred in the Pho is perfect for our taste. Don’t settle for Western made Pho, get authenticity made Pho from the wonderful Asian women at Pho House!

Pho are either classic northern or varieties of southern Vietnamese interpretation of the original pho. And Pho House broth is of the northern style and they did a great job. It is very clear, aromatic flavorful and served piping hot; exactly how a great bow of pho should be served. The flank steak are superb and the brisket is one of the best. Only one improvement; vegetables should be served on the side, allowing individual to add the amount that they like. If they did that, I think it is the best northern style pho in New England. 11/26/23 Under new management. Happy to say that the pho is still the same as before, which is a good thing. The bow was piping hot, the broth was clear and all the meat was top notch. The broth tasted so good and Happy to say they didn't use MSG. Simply put, they have the best Pho in New England. But even the best can improve. Please add a side of vegetable with all of your soup.
