About Peking Wok Restaurant
Located at 4920 3rd Street in the Bayview district of San Francisco, Peking Wok Restaurant falls under the platform category of Chinese Restaurants, presenting itself as a destination for both traditional and contemporary Chinese cuisine. While some customer feedback offers a mixed perspective, the restaurant aims to provide a satisfying dining experience with a focus on fresh ingredients and generous portions.
One reviewer described Peking Wok as a "3rd Street Chinese" establishment with a "tidy interior," suggesting a clean and organized dining environment. However, this reviewer also noted that the restaurant operates on a "cash only" basis and that while the portions are "big," the prices are "higher." This provides important practical information for potential customers regarding payment methods and cost expectations.
The same reviewer also shared their experience with a specific dish, the Salt and Pepper Prawns. While they found the prawns to be "crunchy," they noted a lack of pepper flavor and expressed concern that the oil used for frying "tasted as though in need of changing." This feedback indicates a potential inconsistency in the preparation or quality of certain dishes and suggests that the execution might not always meet expectations.
In contrast, another review offers a more enthusiastic portrayal of Peking Wok Restaurant. This customer poses a rhetorical question, inviting those seeking an "amazing Chinese dining experience in San Francisco" to head to Peking Wok in the Bayview. They describe the restaurant as offering a "wide variety of traditional and contemporary Chinese dishes" and highlight the "warm and inviting" atmosphere. The staff is commended for being "attentive" and ensuring "the best service possible," suggesting a commitment to customer satisfaction.
This positive review further elaborates on the menu, mentioning options ranging from "classic Chinese dishes like Chow Mein vegetable" to "more contemporary creations," implying a diverse selection to cater to different tastes. The reviewer assures that diners will be able to find something to satisfy their palate, emphasizing the "outstanding" flavors and the use of "the freshest ingredients" in all preparations. This paints a picture of a restaurant that takes pride in the quality of its food.
The generous portion sizes, mentioned by the less enthusiastic reviewer, are also echoed here, with the assurance that customers "won't be disappointed." The reviewer goes on to claim that the restaurant's favorites will leave a lasting impression, with flavors that linger even after the meal is finished. The concluding remark is a direct invitation to "Come to Peking Wok," serving as a strong endorsement.
Considering these contrasting reviews, Peking Wok Restaurant appears to be a local Chinese eatery in the Bayview with a clean and welcoming ambiance. They offer a broad menu encompassing both traditional and modern Chinese cuisine, with a focus on using fresh ingredients and serving generous portions. However, potential customers should be aware that the restaurant operates on a cash-only basis and may have prices that are perceived as higher. Additionally, there seems to be some variability in the execution and quality of certain dishes, as indicated by the feedback on the Salt and Pepper Prawns.
Despite the mixed feedback, the positive review strongly recommends Peking Wok for its variety, flavor, and attentive service. For local users in the Bayview or surrounding areas looking for a Chinese restaurant with a wide-ranging menu and a warm atmosphere, Peking Wok Restaurant is worth considering. However, it might be prudent to inquire about the freshness and preparation of specific dishes, particularly fried items, and to remember to bring cash for payment. While no specific promotional information is provided in the reviews, the emphasis on fresh ingredients and generous portions could be seen as part of their value proposition.
In conclusion, Peking Wok Restaurant at 4920 3rd St in San Francisco's Bayview district offers a diverse selection of Chinese dishes in a tidy and inviting setting. While it operates as a cash-only establishment with potentially higher prices, the generous portions and the promise of fresh, flavorful food might appeal to many. However, the reported issues with a specific dish indicate that quality control might be an area for improvement. Local users are encouraged to try Peking Wok and form their own opinions, keeping in mind the available feedback regarding price, payment method, and potential inconsistencies in food preparation.

3rd Street Chinese, tidy interior, cash only. Big portions, but higher prices. Salt and Pepper Prawns, with little taste of pepper. While crunchy, the oil tasted as though in need of changing.
