About Peking Wok

Welcome to Peking Wok, a Chinese restaurant located at 722 E US-74, Rockingham, NC 28379, USA. As a Chinese restaurant in the Rockingham area, Peking Wok offers a buffet-style dining experience featuring a range of popular Americanized Chinese dishes, as well as a selection of sushi. They can be contacted at (910) 582-3339 or their mobile number +1 910-582-3339 for inquiries.

Customer reviews of Peking Wok present a somewhat mixed picture, highlighting both positive and negative aspects of the dining experience. One recent reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction with their visit. They mentioned that the food from the buffet appeared "dried and old," and the sushi was not fresh. Despite requesting fresh sushi, none was reportedly brought out. This reviewer also noted that the establishment appeared dirty, with multiple uncleared tables, despite the restaurant being sparsely occupied. They further observed waitstaff sitting behind the counter eating and not attending to the few customers present. The reviewer concluded their experience was poor, citing the quality of the food and the lack of service, and indicated they would not be returning. The cost for two adult buffets, one water, and one tea was $32.74.

In contrast, another reviewer described their experience as a "guilty pleasure," enjoying the Chinese buffet. They visited at 6:30 PM and spent about an hour sampling various dishes. This reviewer noted a "reasonable display of sushi rolls," although most were covered in sauce, and a wide selection of typical Americanized Chinese buffet items, including baked seafood, beef & broccoli, fried green beans, fried pork in batter, chicken wings, and lo mein. Importantly, this reviewer found the restaurant to be clean, the steam tables were frequently tidied and refilled, and their waitress promptly cleared dirty dishes and refilled their water. They concluded their review positively, stating they were "stuffed."

These contrasting reviews suggest that the experience at Peking Wok can vary. While one customer encountered issues with food freshness, cleanliness, and service, another found the buffet to be satisfactory, with a clean environment and attentive service. The difference in these experiences could be attributed to the time of visit, specific food items sampled, or perhaps inconsistencies in the restaurant's operations on different days or times.

As a Chinese restaurant offering a buffet, Peking Wok likely provides a wide array of dishes that are commonly found in American Chinese cuisine. Buffets typically allow customers to sample a variety of items and eat as much as they like for a fixed price. The mention of steam tables being tidied and refilled in one review suggests an effort to maintain the availability and presentation of the food.

The inclusion of sushi in the buffet is a notable feature. While one reviewer found the sushi to be not fresh, the other described a "reasonable display." For customers interested in both Chinese buffet staples and sushi, Peking Wok offers this combination. However, given the negative feedback regarding sushi freshness, it might be prudent for those specifically seeking sushi to inquire about its preparation and freshness before partaking.

The environment of Peking Wok, based on the reviews, seems to have had differing perceptions. One reviewer found it dirty with uncleared tables, while the other described it as clean. This discrepancy could indicate variability in the restaurant's upkeep or perhaps different standards of cleanliness between the two reviewers. If considering dining in, it might be helpful to look for more recent reviews to get a clearer picture of the current cleanliness of the establishment.

Regarding services, Peking Wok offers a buffet, which is a self-service style of dining for the food selection. Waitstaff are typically responsible for seating customers, providing drinks, and clearing tables. One reviewer experienced inattentive service, while the other reported prompt clearing of dishes and refilling of water, indicating potential inconsistencies in service quality.

Promotional information is not mentioned in the provided reviews. Chinese buffet restaurants sometimes offer lunch specials with lower prices than dinner, or discounts for seniors or children. To learn about any current promotions at Peking Wok, such as special pricing at certain times or days, it is recommended to contact the restaurant directly by phone.

In conclusion, Peking Wok in Rockingham, NC, is a Chinese restaurant that offers a buffet featuring a variety of Americanized Chinese dishes and a selection of sushi. Customer reviews present contrasting experiences regarding food quality, freshness (particularly of the sushi), cleanliness, and service. While one reviewer had a significantly negative experience, another found the buffet satisfactory with clean surroundings and attentive service. Potential customers may want to consider these differing viewpoints. If you are looking for a Chinese buffet in Rockingham that also offers sushi, Peking Wok is an option, but it may be wise to inquire about the freshness of the food and the current cleanliness standards before dining. Contacting the restaurant directly for information on their current menu, services, and any promotions is advisable to make an informed decision.

For local users considering Peking Wok, it might be beneficial to weigh the convenience of a buffet with the potential for variability in food quality and service as indicated by the reviews. If you prioritize a wide selection of American Chinese dishes and the option of sushi at a fixed price, and are willing to assess the current conditions for yourself, Peking Wok could be a possibility. However, the negative review regarding food freshness and cleanliness should be taken into account.

To gain a more comprehensive understanding of the current state of Peking Wok, seeking out additional recent reviews from other online platforms might provide further insights into the typical customer experience. Keep in mind that individual experiences can vary, and it is always a good idea to gather as much information as possible before making a dining decision.

I used to love this place. My husband and I stopped in tonight. I had Sushi and a couple items off of the bar. My husband ate off of the bar. We were in there 30 minutes and I was ready to go. We were seated. Our drinks were given to us and that was it. The food was dried and old. The sushi wasn't fresh at all. When I asked for some fresh Sushi, I was told yes and there still wasn't any brought out. The place was dirty. Multiple tables that hadn't been cleaned. There were maybe 5 tables that were accompanied by people. The waitress were sitting on a stool behind the counter eating. NOT attending to their customers. 2 adult buffet 1 water and 1 tea in total costed $32.74. A picture is worth a 1,000 words.

My guilty pleasure is Chinese buffet. I stopped here at 6:30 and spent about an hour stuffing my face with all sorts of tasty pieces. Lots of the usual Americanized Chinese items including baked seafood, beef & broccoli, fried green beans, fried pork in batter, chicken wings, lo mein, battered meat in a sweet sauce and yes, a reasonable display of sushi rolls though most were covered in sauce. The restaurant is clean, the steam tables were tidied often and refilled, my waitress cleared dirty dishes and refilled my water. I'm stuffed!

Everything on the buffet is the cheapest food available. Fake crab meat, tilapia, tiny shrimp. Now, I understand inflation is a thing but the meat balls are ground up fat and cartilage in a red sauce!! How, can you in good conscience serve that to someone!? I literally spit it out. the sushi all fake crab. The pictures on google are ancient and do not represent the real entrees. This restaurant is good if you want fried foods and don’t care about your heart health. just avoid this place. Much better options for 19$ per person.

The food was awful, barely even warm at all and tasteless. No flavoring at all. Soup was a little warm. Place seemed very run down, you still have to wear a glove when going to get your food as though Covid is still going around like a wild fire. I’d recommend taking your money else where if you want to actually enjoy a good meal.

Always a good time at this place. The workers can't help how other ppl feel about certain ppl of color but as long as I'm not bothered or my family then we're good. Food on point. Staff on point always.
