The environment at Peking Restaurant is consistently praised for its aesthetic appeal. Customers describe the dining area as "tastefully decorated" with a "modern, casual setting." This suggests a comfortable and inviting ambiance that is both contemporary and relaxed, making it suitable for various occasions, whether a casual lunch or a more intimate dinner. The emphasis on cleanliness is also noteworthy, with reviewers specifically mentioning a "clean restaurant and restrooms," which contributes significantly to a positive dining experience and reflects a commitment to hygiene and customer comfort.

The service at Peking Restaurant is consistently highlighted as a strong point. The staff is described as "friendly," creating a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere for diners. One reviewer specifically mentioned their server being "great," indicating attentive and efficient service. Furthermore, a first-time visitor recounted a personal interaction with, presumably, the owner, who inquired about their dining experience. This proactive engagement suggests a genuine interest in customer satisfaction and a personal touch that can enhance the overall impression of the restaurant.

Peking Restaurant distinguishes itself through its commitment to providing "many flavorful options" on its menu, catering to a diverse range of palates. A key feature is the availability of both lunch specials and more comprehensive dinner options. The lunch menu is presented as an "inexpensive option," although one reviewer noted that the portions are smaller and do not include an appetizer for the stated price of $14. However, the lunch specials do include soup and salad, offering a more complete meal at a reasonable value.

For those seeking a more extensive dining experience, Peking Restaurant offers the "Peking or Chef Dinners" for a slightly higher price point, approximately $3 more than the individual lunch special. These dinner options are described as providing a "full course meal with optional choices at an affordable price, per person." This structure allows diners to customize their meal with different courses and enjoy a more substantial and varied selection of dishes without exceeding a reasonable budget. The recommendation to try these dinners suggests they offer excellent value and a true taste of what Peking Restaurant has to offer.

Specific dishes that have received positive feedback include the "orange chicken" and "Szechuan Chicken," both of which were part of the lunch specials enjoyed by a first-time visitor. This reviewer described these dishes as "fantastic," emphasizing their freshness and appealing presentation ("Everything was fresh and looked wonderful"). The overall taste was lauded as "simply delicious," indicating high quality in the preparation and flavor profiles of their offerings.

The fact that a local reviewer considers Peking Restaurant to be "realistically, the only decent Chinese restaurant, locally" speaks volumes about its reputation and the perceived quality of its food compared to other options in the area. This strong endorsement from a local patron further solidifies Peking Restaurant's position as a top choice for Chinese cuisine in Ventura.

In terms of promotional information, the existence of "lunch specials" and the "Peking or Chef Dinners" can be considered ongoing promotions aimed at providing value to customers at different times of the day and for varying appetites. The lunch specials offer an affordable midday meal with soup, salad, entree, and rice, while the Peking and Chef Dinners provide a full-course experience with customizable options at a reasonable per-person price. These structured meal deals serve as a consistent way for customers to enjoy a satisfying meal at a predictable cost.

While specific limited-time promotions or discounts are not mentioned in the provided reviews, Peking Restaurant's focus on providing flavorful options, affordable lunch and dinner sets, a pleasant dining environment, and friendly service collectively contribute to its appeal and value proposition for local users. The positive feedback regarding the quality of the food, particularly the freshness and taste of dishes like the orange chicken and Szechuan chicken, suggests a consistent commitment to culinary excellence.

In conclusion, Peking Restaurant at 5960 Telegraph Rd in Ventura offers a compelling combination of delicious and authentic Chinese cuisine, a tastefully decorated and clean dining environment, and friendly, attentive service. Whether you're looking for an affordable and satisfying lunch special or a more comprehensive and customizable full-course dinner with the Peking or Chef Dinner options, this restaurant appears to be a local favorite that consistently delivers on flavor and quality. For local users seeking a reliable and enjoyable Chinese dining experience, Peking Restaurant is undoubtedly a top contender worth visiting.

Realistically, the only decent Chinese restaurant, locally. Many flavorful options to choose. Lunch menu is an inexpensive option, however, smaller portions and no appetizer included for $14. The lunch specials do provide soup and salad. My preference is to try the Peking or Chef Dinners for $3 more that will offer you a full course meal with optional choices at an affordable price, per person. Tastefully decorated dining area with a modern, casual setting. Clean restaurant and restrooms. Friendly staff.

We ate here for the first time on Saturday afternoon. My bf and I both had the lunch specials of orange chicken and Szechuan Chicken. It was fantastic. It came with soup, salad, entree and rice. We will definitely be coming back. Everything was fresh and looked wonderful. It simply was delicious. Our server was great too. After we paid we were visited by, (we think) the owner and she asked us how we liked everything, we raved and let her know it was our first visit and that we would be back.

Came for lunch and we had the lunch special which features a large selection of amazing dishes. Parking is easy as it's in a large shopping center. The dishes were tasty and well prepared. The server was excellent as she had solid opinions when we asked about dishes. This is always appreciated, a server that knows and enjoys the menu. The ambiance is wonderful. You will find a dimly lit dining room with beautiful wood and Chinese decor. They offer a full bar and generous lunch special. If you love Chinese food you will love this place. Definitely will be back again soon.

This was my first visit… that said I ordered Mongolian beef with steam rice onions were tough which indicates not fresh, also had Hot and Soup. Rice was missing, no spoon or chips for the soup. I had to go back and get my rice🫤. Very poor service. Hopefully this rating will provoke the food preparers to do better SOON.

It is my first time here and we love the place. The food was good, and the staff was very polite and nice. Our waiter Erik with a k was awesome. The owner Margaret was very friendly and recommended authentic menu and dishes, especially the mapo tofu which was a special treat from the owner! We shared some Chinese snacks with owner and staff and we all had a great time.
