About Peking

Peking is a Chinese Restaurant located at 303 2nd Ave NW, Cullman, AL 35055, USA. They can be contacted at (256) 739-7129 or via mobile at +1 256-739-7129. Based on the available customer reviews, Peking offers a combination of Chinese dishes and sushi, providing a varied menu for the local community.

One reviewer shared a mixed experience. They found the sushi to be "warm" and "good kind of tasteless," which may indicate inconsistencies in the sushi preparation or quality. However, they noted that the Hot and Sour Soup was "good." Their experience with the Beef with Mixed Vegetables was neutral, describing it as "ok," falling between excellent and poor. They also commented on the staff being "ok." This reviewer mentioned that sushi is expensive and that prices, particularly for sushi, have significantly increased.

In contrast, another customer had a highly positive experience, describing their dinner as "fantastic" at this "wonderful family-owned restaurant." They were immediately impressed by the kindness and hospitality they received upon entering. This reviewer emphasized the freshness and deliciousness of the food, stating that it was evident that the dishes were made with care. They found every dish to be flavorful and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was described as "warm and welcoming," making them feel at home. They specifically appreciated the friendly service and expressed their intention to return, highly recommending Peking to anyone seeking "amazing Chinese food and a great dining experience."

The reviews present contrasting perspectives on Peking. One suggests potential issues with the sushi, particularly regarding temperature and taste, and notes the high cost of sushi. The other review paints a picture of a delightful dining experience characterized by fresh and delicious food, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional, friendly service in a family-owned setting. The positive review highlights the care taken in food preparation and the overall welcoming nature of the restaurant.

Considering these two reviews, Peking appears to be a restaurant that strives to offer a positive dining experience with fresh and flavorful Chinese cuisine and a welcoming atmosphere. The mention of it being family-owned often correlates with a more personal touch in service and food preparation, as echoed in the positive review. However, the comment regarding the sushi suggests that this aspect of their menu might be inconsistent or not to everyone's liking, especially given the price point.

For local users in Cullman, AL, Peking presents an option for both traditional Chinese dishes and sushi. If you prioritize fresh and flavorful Chinese food in a warm and hospitable environment with friendly service, the positive review suggests that Peking could be a great choice. The family-owned aspect might also appeal to those who prefer to support local businesses with a personal touch. However, if sushi is your primary interest, the comment about it being warm and tasteless, along with the high price, might warrant caution or further inquiry before ordering.

The information available does not provide details about the restaurant's specific environment beyond being "warm and welcoming." Services likely include dine-in and possibly takeout, given that one customer had a full dinner at the restaurant. Delivery service is not explicitly mentioned in these reviews. Features seem to include a family-owned operation with a focus on fresh, flavorful food and friendly service. The menu includes both Chinese cuisine and sushi, catering to a broader range of tastes. There is no promotional information available in these reviews.

In conclusion, Peking in Cullman, AL, offers a combination of Chinese and Japanese (sushi) cuisine. While one reviewer expressed concerns about the sushi's quality and price, they found the Hot and Sour Soup to be good and the Beef with Mixed Vegetables to be average. On the other hand, another customer had an overwhelmingly positive experience, praising the fresh and delicious Chinese food, the warm atmosphere, and the friendly service of this family-owned establishment. For local diners, Peking offers the potential for a pleasant dining experience, particularly if you are interested in their Chinese dishes and value a welcoming, family-run atmosphere. If you are a sushi enthusiast, you might want to inquire further about the current quality and preparation methods before ordering, keeping in mind the reported higher prices.

I have mixed emotions with this place. First impressions were awful enough we almost left. Hunger won and we stayed. There were several tables that needed to be cleaned and the whole place could have used a good wiping down and maybe a paint job. Seating wasn't conducive to small groups and 2 of the 4 chairs at our table were terribly uneven. The food, however, was really good. It is Americanized Chinese, but quite well done and flavorful. We did not order sushi, so I can't say about it. I would suggest getting take away orders. I put 3 stars on service because of the lack of care on cleaning tables and sweeping floors, etc.

My sushi roll was hot. Raised prices significantly on it. Food is ok. Kind of tasteless. Used to be way better. People are sometimes rude. To me it has gone down hill and is sub par. Parking lot is a nightmare to get in and out and very small over packed strip mall. Eat in but small restaurant. I only really go for sushi. But it has become sloppy so I seek elsewhere for it. Food is ok. Rice and soy is better and good service. It's around the corner. I usually go to them or the other one by taco bell. Peking went from my favorite to you guys could do way better. Their hot and sour soup tasted like water. It used to be better.

We stayed in Cullman on our way back home. We went to this restaurant based on high Google rating. We ordered the sesame chicken combo. The food was average. They use yellow rice for the fried rice and the chicken chunks were chewy. If we pass through Cullman again, we will not order food from this restaurant.
