As a Chinese restaurant in the Springfield area, Peking House Restaurant offers a platform for enjoying familiar Chinese-American cuisine. Our category typically includes a range of dishes such as beef and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, and chicken with green beans, among other popular options. We strive to serve the local community with a convenient dining choice for those seeking Chinese food.
Recent customer reviews present a mixed perspective on the dining experience at Peking House Restaurant. One customer expressed significant dissatisfaction with their order of beef and broccoli, describing the lunch-sized portion as inadequate for dinner, especially for the price of $14. They also found the dish to be of poor quality and noted that the rice was steamed rather than fried and lacked soy sauce. Upon returning the next day for a replacement, this customer appreciated the initial kindness of a young staff member but was less satisfied with the handling of the situation by an older staff member, who, while providing a replacement dish, emphasized that it was a one-time exception. Ultimately, this customer found the replacement dish, chicken with green beans, to be bland and not to their liking, leading to a decision not to return.
In contrast, another customer reported a positive initial impression, noting that the staff was "very friendly and personable" upon walking in. This reviewer also immediately observed the cleanliness of the restaurant, stating, "I noticed how clean it was as soon as we walked in!" They enjoyed their order of Sweet and Sour Chicken, describing it as "very good, tender and hot with the right amount of crunch!" However, this customer was somewhat surprised that the daily special did not include an egg roll or crab rangoon, which are often included with such meals at other Chinese restaurants.
These reviews highlight the contrasting experiences of recent customers. One customer found significant issues with food quality and portion size, as well as a less than satisfactory resolution process, while the other praised the friendly staff and the cleanliness of the establishment, along with the quality of the sweet and sour chicken, but noted the absence of expected side items with the daily special.
The environment of Peking House Restaurant, based on one review, is noted for its cleanliness, which is a positive aspect for potential diners. The other review does not provide specific details about the ambiance or decor. Generally, Chinese restaurants aim to create a comfortable and functional space for dining. The emphasis on cleanliness in one of the reviews suggests that maintaining a hygienic environment is a priority at Peking House Restaurant.
In terms of services, Peking House Restaurant offers dine-in options, as indicated by the customer who walked in and ate at the restaurant. They also likely provide takeout services, as is common for most Chinese restaurants, although this is not explicitly stated in the reviews. The interaction described in the first review, where the customer returned to the restaurant to address an issue with their order, indicates a willingness to engage with customer concerns, albeit with varying degrees of satisfaction in the resolution. The friendly and personable nature of the staff, as mentioned by the second reviewer, suggests a positive customer service orientation.
Features of Peking House Restaurant include the reported friendly and personable staff and the cleanliness of the premises. The sweet and sour chicken was noted as being "very good, tender and hot with the right amount of crunch," suggesting this as a potentially popular and well-prepared dish. However, the inconsistency in food quality and portion sizes, as well as the handling of customer complaints, appear to be areas where experiences may vary. The location on E Sunshine St provides accessibility for residents and visitors in that part of Springfield.
Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. The absence of details about specials, discounts, or other promotional offers makes it difficult to comment on this aspect. Potential customers may wish to inquire directly with the restaurant about any current promotions or daily specials that might be available.
In conclusion, Peking House Restaurant in Springfield, MO, presents a mixed picture based on recent customer feedback. While one reviewer praised the friendly staff, the cleanliness of the restaurant, and the quality of the sweet and sour chicken, another expressed significant dissatisfaction with the portion size and taste of the beef and broccoli, the blandness of the chicken with green beans, and the handling of their complaint. Potential customers may find some aspects of Peking House Restaurant appealing, such as the reported friendly service and cleanliness, but should also be aware of the reported inconsistencies in food quality and portion sizes. It may be beneficial to consider these varying experiences when making a decision about dining at Peking House Restaurant. For the most current information on their menu, services, and any potential promotions, please contact them directly at (417) 887-5454.

For $14 I got this little lunch portion of beef and broccoli. I am pissed. This is dinner time and this serving is for a child. To top it off it's nasty. The rice is steamed not fried with no soy sauce. I went back the next day to get a replacement. The young lady was so sweet but then came an older lady with a million questions. I didn't like how she handled it but she still gave me another dish and made sure she said "only this time".... Don't worry cause I'll never come back. The chicken green bean was so bland I had to go home and add sauce. It's just not for me. I wish I could get my money back.
Walked in and the staff was very friendly and personable! I noticed how clean it was as soon as we walked in! I got the Sweet and Sour Chicken and it was very good, tender and hot with the right amount of crunch! Kinda surprised the daily special didn't come with an egg roll or crab Rangoon though
Wellllllll let me tell you from the phone call, then to me walking in as a lil(DUMPLING) the service was on point by all employees including back of the house.... but the front got me cracked up.... LILLY, ANNA & NICK (BTW) he so handsome ๐.... besides that they were knowledgeable and very friendly seeing how I've never been there before... I took the food Togo and got home, and daaaaayyyuummmmm flavorful fresh and delicious.... I will be coming back to see my awesome (well I guess friends ๐งก now) employees.. thank you guys so much for a great experience ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ๐๐โค๏ธโ๐ฅโค๏ธ๐งก๐๐๐๐
The chocolate chip wonton was a stellar idea and they're delicious! The egg roll was a top contender in town. But the chicken, sauces, and quality of the overall experience have left my family deciding we wouldn't order more than the chocolate chip wontons from this restaurant moving forward. The food was hot. There was nothing wrong with it, outside of being so sloppily thrown in the to go box. But the meal itself was a let down, I could have paid less and gotten better sweet and sour chicken from other drive thru Chinese spots on sunshine. The "crab" Rangoon were also a let down, a super savory cream cheese without even the hint of imitation crab in them. It was just very mediocre unfortunately
Best wonton soup in springfield! Thick noodles for the wonton. They have to be home made? The broth is delicious! Super clean! Beautifully designed. A nice calming ambiance. The staff is extra friendly! I love this place!
