About Peking Gourmet II

Welcome to Peking Gourmet II, a Chinese restaurant located at 385 Jackson Plaza, Sylva, NC 28779, USA. Situated within the Chinese Restaurant category, Peking Gourmet II offers both buffet and takeout services to the local Sylva community. Recent customer reviews provide a mixed perspective on this establishment, highlighting both positive and negative aspects that potential local users should consider.

Regarding the environment of Peking Gourmet II, one customer who visited on a Friday night (advertised as "seafood night") described the location as "a bit run down." This suggests that the physical condition of the restaurant might not be optimal and could potentially impact the dining experience for those choosing to eat on-site. This observation is a point of concern for potential dine-in customers who value a well-maintained and appealing atmosphere.

In terms of services, Peking Gourmet II offers both a buffet and takeout options. One customer initially ordered takeout for lunch, sharing Roast Pork Lo Mein and two spring rolls. They found the portion of meat in the Lo Mein to be plentiful and noted that the spring rolls were "the best." This suggests that their takeout service can provide satisfying meals. However, a subsequent visit where they dined in for the buffet resulted in a different experience. The buffet was priced at $14.95 per person, even for a 10-year-old, which might be considered relatively expensive for a buffet, depending on the offerings and overall experience.

The features of Peking Gourmet II are somewhat varied based on the customer experiences. The Friday night "seafood night" buffet was a significant point of disappointment for one reviewer, who questioned, "Where's the SEAFOOD??" This strongly indicates a lack of expected seafood options on a night specifically advertised for them. The same reviewer also noted that there were "not enough food trays available for a 'buffet' serving" and that when trays emptied, "it took a while before they were refilled." This suggests potential issues with the buffet's management and the availability of food, leading to a less than satisfactory buffet experience. The reviewer who waited for a specific tray to be refilled only to see it brought out as they were leaving further emphasizes these shortcomings.

On the other hand, the takeout experience with the Roast Pork Lo Mein was positive in terms of the amount of meat provided, although the customer wished for more vegetables. The spring rolls were a highlight, described as "the best." This indicates that some of their menu items, particularly those ordered for takeout, might be of good quality. However, the stark contrast between the positive takeout experience and the negative buffet experience suggests inconsistency in the quality and management of their different service styles.

The customer reviews for Peking Gourmet II present a dichotomy. The takeout order of Roast Pork Lo Mein and spring rolls was well-received, indicating that some dishes might be a good option for those preferring to eat off-site. The generous portion of meat in the Lo Mein was a positive aspect. However, the buffet experience, particularly on a designated "seafood night," was significantly negative. The lack of seafood, insufficient number of food trays, and slow refilling of empty trays all point to potential issues with the buffet's operation and offerings. The price of the buffet, $14.95 per person regardless of age (in the case of a 10-year-old), might also be a consideration for families.

The description of the location as "a bit run down" by one reviewer adds another layer of concern for potential dine-in customers. The overall impression from the reviews is that while some aspects of Peking Gourmet II, such as certain takeout items, might be satisfactory, the buffet experience appears to be unreliable and potentially disappointing. Local users looking for a buffet, especially on a themed night, should be aware of the reported issues with food availability and variety.

In conclusion, Peking Gourmet II in Sylva offers both buffet and takeout services. While one takeout experience was positive regarding the Roast Pork Lo Mein and spring rolls, a dine-in buffet experience, particularly on "seafood night," was highly negative due to a lack of expected seafood, insufficient food availability, and slow refilling of trays. One reviewer also described the location as "a bit run down." Potential local users should weigh these contrasting experiences when considering Peking Gourmet II. If opting for takeout, specific dishes might be satisfactory, but those interested in the buffet should be aware of the reported issues. For any information on current promotions or the specifics of their buffet offerings, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

I went to this buffet location on a Friday night (seafood night). Question...Where's the SEAFOOD?? This location seems a bit run down. Not enough food trays available for a "buffet" serving. When trays emptied out, it took a while before they were refilled. I waited for a certain tray to be filled since I walked in, and it was finally brought out at the time I was ready to leave. If you are looking for a "real" buffet location, this is definitely not it.

We ordered take out for lunch. Two of us shared the Roast Pork Lo Mein and two spring rolls. The total with tax was $14. There was a lot of meat with the noodles. I wish there were more vegetables though. The spring rolls were the best. Our meal was very filling and we both enjoyed it. UPDATE: We decided to dine in tonight and got the buffet. It cost &14.95 each. Even for a 10 year olds.

I've been going here since they opened, the food has gone down in quality for awhile now, the hot sour soup is mostly broth, no pork, no tofu, no mushrooms it's nothing like it used to be. Egg rolls always over cooked, some food is just warm, tables and booths need replaced. The carry out boxes are very small, you can't get what you pay for in these small containers. I am very disappointed. I don't go as often as I used too. Wish they'd go back like they were.

I’ve traveled all over the USA and this Chinese restaurant has the best tasting food I’ve had so far. I love the flavor and different varieties here. Would definitely recommend it and I’ll come again one day. Not a bad lunch price and the staff were very welcoming.

My family showed up a hour and a half before they closed. The buffet was missing half the food. We asked several times for certain foods with nothing brought out. I paid 65$ after asking for a discount because of how bare the buffet was. No discount was given. Everything on the back bar of buffet was cold. It was almost as if you was just eating scraps. My recommendation is don't go at dinner time even on a Saturday.
