About Peking Garden

Peking Garden is a Chinese restaurant located at 2007 S Glenburnie Rd in New Bern, North Carolina. As a local Chinese restaurant, it offers a variety of Chinese dishes for both dine-in and takeout customers in the New Bern area. Recent customer feedback presents a mixed view of the establishment, with positive comments regarding the food and cleanliness contrasted by a very serious allegation concerning billing practices.

On the positive side, one enthusiastic customer, who professes a love for Chinese cuisine, described Peking Garden as a "jewel of the orient" serving "fresh stylish food." This reviewer also highlighted the restaurant's exceptional cleanliness, stating it is "nicely, fantastically clean." They further noted the availability of small tables for families or those preferring to dine in, alongside the convenient option of ordering takeout. This positive feedback suggests that Peking Garden may offer well-prepared food in a clean and welcoming environment for those choosing to dine at the restaurant or take their meals to go.

However, a significantly concerning review details a serious alleged incident involving billing. This customer claims that Peking Garden added a $30 tip to their card after they had already left a $3 tip for a simple meal. The incident reportedly occurred on June 25, 2023. While the customer acknowledged the possibility of a mistake in entering the numbers, the experience was negative enough for them to state they would "never eat there again." The fact that the customer lost their receipt prevented them from returning to complain and resolve the issue. This is a very serious accusation that raises significant concerns about the integrity of the restaurant's billing practices and the potential for unauthorized charges.

The stark contrast between these two reviews makes it challenging to form a definitive overall impression of Peking Garden. The positive review praises the food quality, presentation, and the cleanliness of the restaurant, suggesting a potentially pleasant dining experience. However, the serious allegation of an unauthorized charge on a customer's card cannot be ignored and raises significant red flags regarding the restaurant's business practices and the trust customers can place in their transactions.

Given the limited information available, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive description of the environment, services, or features of Peking Garden beyond what is mentioned in these two reviews. The positive review indicates a clean restaurant with dine-in seating (small tables) and takeout service. The negative review focuses solely on the alleged billing issue and does not provide any insights into other aspects of the restaurant's operations or atmosphere.

For local users in New Bern, NC, considering Peking Garden for their Chinese food needs, it is essential to be aware of both the positive feedback regarding food and cleanliness and the very serious allegation of a significant unauthorized charge. Potential customers will need to weigh these contrasting pieces of information when making their decision.

If you are in the 28562 area of New Bern, NC, and are looking for a Chinese restaurant, Peking Garden is located at 2007 S Glenburnie Rd and can be contacted at (252) 637-8187 or +1 252-637-8187. However, given the serious nature of the reported billing issue, potential customers may want to exercise caution, perhaps by paying in cash and carefully checking their receipts, or by considering other Chinese dining options in the area with more consistently positive and less concerning recent feedback.

The allegation of adding a large unauthorized tip is a significant issue that can severely damage a restaurant's reputation and erode customer trust. While mistakes can happen, the lack of resolution due to the lost receipt in this case leaves a lingering negative impression. It underscores the importance for both customers to retain their receipts and for businesses to have transparent and trustworthy billing practices.

In conclusion, Peking Garden in New Bern, NC, appears to offer potentially fresh and tasty Chinese cuisine in a clean environment, according to one reviewer. However, a very serious allegation of unauthorized billing from another customer raises significant concerns that cannot be dismissed. Local users should be aware of this conflicting feedback when considering Peking Garden for their dining needs.

My brother took me here on a guys night and I couldn't believe my taste buds!!! Can't believe my brother was holding out on me. Ordered the house fried rice and dumplings to go. It is probably the best take out in New Bern! And...reasonably priced. Way to go bro!!!

Found this place shortly after moving into the Reserve. It’s pretty solid fast Chinese food! Some dishes have too much slurry (moo goo gai pan) but the Mongolian chicken is gas! Chicken lo mein is tasty too. I wish they would add tofu as a protein option!!! Don’t sleep on the boneless pork rib appetizer, they are straight fire.
