About Peking Duck House
Located at 28 Mott Street A in the vibrant Chinatown district of New York City, Peking Duck House is a Chinese restaurant that has garnered attention, particularly for its signature dish, Peking duck. As a prominent member of the Chinese Restaurant category in a city renowned for its diverse culinary scene, Peking Duck House offers a dining experience that combines traditional flavors with convenient services in a comfortable setting.
Based on customer reviews, the environment of Peking Duck House is characterized by "clean interiors" and a "spacious" layout. This suggests that diners can expect a comfortable and hygienic setting, with ample room to enjoy their meals without feeling cramped. The emphasis on cleanliness is a significant positive aspect for many diners. While not explicitly described in detail, the mention of spaciousness implies that the restaurant can accommodate both smaller and larger groups comfortably. This makes it a potential option for various occasions, from intimate dinners to gatherings with friends and family.
The services at Peking Duck House appear to be efficient and customer-oriented. One reviewer specifically noted "prompt service" for a walk-in party of seven, indicating that the restaurant is capable of handling larger groups without significant delays. Another significant service feature is the Bring Your Own Bottle (BYOB) policy. This is a notable advantage for diners who prefer to enjoy specific beverages with their meal or wish to save on restaurant drink prices. The combination of prompt service and the BYOB option suggests a focus on providing a convenient and accommodating dining experience for their patrons. While takeout and delivery services are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, they are common offerings for Chinese restaurants in New York City, and it would be advisable to inquire directly with the restaurant about these options.
The standout feature of Peking Duck House, as its name suggests, is undoubtedly its Peking duck. Both reviewers specifically praised this dish. One described it as "especially for peking duck," implying it is a specialty that excels. The other reviewer gave the Peking duck a rating of "10/10," highlighting that it was "juicy" with "crispy skin." This overwhelmingly positive feedback indicates that the Peking duck is a must-try item and a significant draw for the restaurant. Beyond the Peking duck, the reviews also mention other dishes, providing insights into the broader menu. One party of seven ordered seafood lo mein, Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce, and jellyfish salad as an appetizer. The feedback on the lo mein was mixed, with the reviewer noting that while the "noodles themselves were good," the restaurant "skimped on the seafood." The Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce and jellyfish salad were not specifically commented on in terms of taste or quality in these reviews, but their inclusion in the order suggests a variety of typical Chinese dishes are available. The fact that one reviewer found an order of Peking duck and three side dishes to be sufficient for a party of four gives some indication of portion sizes, at least for those particular items.
The overall impression from the reviews is that Peking Duck House offers a solid Chinese dining experience, particularly excelling in its preparation of Peking duck. The clean and spacious environment, coupled with prompt service and the unique BYOB policy, adds to its appeal. While one minor critique was noted regarding the seafood portion in the lo mein, the overwhelmingly positive feedback on the signature Peking duck suggests that this is where the restaurant truly shines. The fact that one reviewer was "pleasantly surprised" by the service, not expecting Michelin-star quality but receiving attentive service nonetheless, indicates that the restaurant likely provides a level of service that exceeds basic expectations for a casual Chinese dining establishment.

Great overall Chinese restaurant, but especially for peking duck. BYOB, so you can bring your own drinks. For a party of 4, an order of peking duck and 3 side dishes were enough. Clean interiors, and spacious. Didn't walk in expecting Michelin star service and was pleasantly surprised!
Service was prompt for our walk-in party of 7. We ordered 2 Peking duck, seafood lo mein, Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce, and the jellyfish salad appetizer. The duck was juicy and the skin was crispy, 10/10. The lo mein noodles themselves were good, but they skimped on the seafood
Great place for a NYC Chinatown experience. The BYOB is a bonus with no corking fee! Simple quality service, which counts, compared to other establishments, which can make or break your night. Start with appetizers from the jellyfish, cold noodles, spare ribs, and then slowly progress to the duck. The key thing to remember is to ask for the duck remains to be made into a tofu and veggie soup, AFTER cutting the meat. This secondary part will be a treat. Get the shrimp with walnuts, fried squid, etc. Wrap your duck with the sauce, scallions, etc, and enjoy! If OG Chinatown folks still come here, that's a good sign. Consistent restaurant 👌
Peeking Duck is a fantastic spot to try duck for the first time, and it’s no wonder it's famous for it! The rich history behind this place adds to the experience, and the duck itself is absolutely delicious. Be prepared for a wait on weekends, as it gets busy quickly, but the incredible flavors are worth it. It’s the perfect place for a large gathering, especially since you can bring your own bottle. A must-visit for both duck lovers and newcomers alike!
OMG! Recently went back for the Peking Duck and it was disappointing! From the craving on the duck/skin to the dish with duck meat, and the soup with the bone, it was just not up to par at all. Soup was really really bland. Also noticed that it was a Friday night and surprisingly we were the only Asian, the whole time we only saw non Asian customers dinning. That should tell us this place has fallen from grace, as it used to be the go to place for Peking Duck in Chinatown back in the days.
