About Peking Chop Suey
Welcome to Peking Chop Suey, a Chinese restaurant located at 10715 Old Halls Ferry Rd, St. Louis, MO 63136, USA. They can be contacted at (314) 868-2240 or their mobile number +1 314-868-2240 for inquiries or orders.
Based on recent customer feedback, Peking Chop Suey appears to be facing significant challenges in terms of food quality, portion sizes, and customer service. One reviewer expressed disappointment with their first experience of Chinese food in St. Louis at this establishment. Coming from a large city accustomed to plentiful portions and flavorful food, they found Peking Chop Suey lacking and stated they would not be returning. This suggests that the restaurant did not meet the expectations of someone familiar with a diverse and high-quality Chinese food scene.
Another reviewer highlighted several specific issues with their meal. They noted that the serving sizes were very small relative to the prices charged. Additionally, they found the fried rice to be overcooked and mushy. They also pointed out an insufficient quantity of white rice provided with specialty dishes. Furthermore, this customer described the customer service as unfriendly, contributing to an overall negative experience.
A long-term customer, who had been patronizing the business since the early 1980s and noted a change in ownership at some point, shared a particularly concerning experience. They stated that the father, presumably one of the owners, had a history of being rude and disrespectful, yet the customer had continued to return despite this. However, a recent attempt to place a phone order resulted in the older owner being rude and disrespectful (as per their past experiences), leading the customer to hang up. Upon calling back and placing an order with the son, the customer mentioned the father's rudeness. When they picked up their food, they were dismayed to find a thin piece of curly metal in their noodles. This incident was the final straw, leading the customer to declare that they would not be returning to Peking Chop Suey.
The provided reviews offer no positive feedback regarding the food, service, or environment of Peking Chop Suey. The comments consistently point to negative aspects of the dining experience. Issues raised include small portion sizes for the price, poor food quality (overcooked fried rice, insufficient rice), unfriendly customer service, and, most alarmingly, a foreign object (metal) found in the food. The long-term customer's account also suggests a history of problematic interactions with at least one of the owners.
Given the severity of these negative reviews, it is difficult to provide a positive introduction to Peking Chop Suey. There is no information available about the restaurant's ambiance or any unique features that might be considered positive. The focus of the feedback is overwhelmingly critical of the core aspects of a restaurant: food quality, portion sizes, and customer service.
Local users in St. Louis, MO, considering Peking Chop Suey should be aware of the significant concerns raised by these recent customers. The reports of small portions, poor food quality, unfriendly service, and the presence of metal in the food are serious red flags that potential diners should take into account. The negative experience of a long-term customer, who had previously tolerated rudeness but was ultimately driven away by a food safety issue, further underscores the severity of the problems reported.
Without any positive feedback to offer a balanced perspective, it is not possible to recommend Peking Chop Suey based on the information available. Potential customers may want to consider other Chinese restaurant options in the St. Louis area that have received more positive and reliable reviews. It might also be prudent to seek more recent feedback from other sources to determine if the issues raised have been addressed.
In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for Peking Chop Suey in St. Louis, MO, are overwhelmingly negative, citing issues with small portion sizes, poor food quality (overcooked fried rice), insufficient rice, unfriendly customer service, and a concerning incident of finding metal in the noodles. These serious issues should give local users significant pause when considering this Chinese restaurant.

Very small serving size for the prices of the food. Fried rice was overcooked / mushy. Not enough white rice for specialty dishes. Customer Service was not friendly First experience with Chinese food in St Louis and I was not impressed. Coming from a large city with plentiful portions and food that pleasures the palate. I will not be back.
I've been patronizing this business since the early 80's, somewhere during that time frame the owners changed. The father is very rude and disrespectful. But I would always come back. I tried to place an order on the phone and the owner was rude and disrespectful (as usual), so I hung up. I called a few minutes later and the son answered. I proceeded to place my order. I also mentioned how rude the older man was. When I picked up my food there was a thin piece of curly metal in my noodles. I will not be returning.
Food is good. I think the little man in front cooks most of the orders. It's the normal chop suey fairly clean and quiet. This is my go to chop suey on Sundays. I ordered plain fried rice with extra eggs this time. Eggs were big and fluffy yum.
I have patronized this establishment since I was a teenager ( over 30 years), however, my most recent experiences have thoroughly disappointed me. The rice was bland and dry a few weeks ago. Thought I'd give them another try today. I attempted to call to place my order. The person that answered was unintelligible and hung up on me twice. When I went inside, the gentleman at the counter cut me off as I was trying to speak and didn't give me any eye contact. I will no longer eat here as it seems that don't appreciate my business.
When you place order over the phone, they rush you, then hang up on you. You have to understand everything don't know what's on the menu. Give people time to say what they want.
