About Peking Chef

Welcome to Peking Chef, a Chinese restaurant located at 8673 N Port Washington Rd, Fox Point, WI 53217, USA. Primarily focused on pick-up and delivery services, Peking Chef also offers tables for customers who wish to dine in. You can place your orders by visiting the back of the restaurant or by calling (414) 228-8222 or +1 414-228-8222. It is recommended to view their menu online beforehand to expedite the ordering process.

Peking Chef features lunch specials, such as the sweet and sour chicken, which includes a choice of white or fried rice, and an egg roll (shrimp, pork, or veggie), crab Rangoon, or soup. Another option mentioned is the pepper steak, which also comes with the same side choices. Customers have noted the generous portions, as food is often served in to-go containers even for dine-in orders, with Styrofoam plates and bags for leftovers provided. The food is generally served hot and flavorful. The crab Rangoon is described as having a pleasant touch of sweetness.

A recent positive experience highlighted the reasonable pricing, with a substantial order of lunch specials and crab Rangoon totaling under $30. The server was attentive, offering water and providing necessary items like plates and a to-go bag.

However, another recent review indicates a concern about declining food quality. Specifically, a Pad Thai dish was described as bland and mostly noodles, while a broccoli and tofu dish was similarly disappointing, despite containing a large amount of tofu. This customer stated they would not be returning.

Based on the available reviews, Peking Chef offers convenient takeout and delivery options, along with dine-in availability in a strip mall setting. Their lunch specials appear to be a popular and reasonably priced option with generous portions. However, potential customers should be aware of recent feedback suggesting a possible decline in the quality of certain dishes. It may be prudent to inquire about the preparation and ingredients of specific items when ordering.

Peking Chef is located in a strip mall. They seem to have mainly pick up and delivery options, but there are tables to eat there. Place your order in the back of the restaurant. It helps to look at the menu online before coming so you aren't standing there trying to read all they have to offer. The daughter ordered sweet and sour chicken lunch special, which came with a choice of white or fried rice, egg roll of choice (shrimp, pork, or veggie) or crab Rangoon, or soup. She got the fried rice and pork eggroll. I was going to order the Chinese fried chicken, but it didn't come with anything, so I opted for the pepper steak with the same choices for sides. I chose the fried rice and veggie egg roll. We also ordered crab Rangoon, which came with six large pieces. Our server brought the food out to us in to-go containers, which was very helpful because there was a lot of food. He brought Styrofoam plates and also brought us a bag to put all of our leftovers in. The food was very hot and had a nice flavor. The Rangoon had a touch of sweet without being too sweet like I've had elsewhere. Our waiter offered to bring us water, but we bought a can of Coke to share. There are other varieties of Coke products to purchase in either can or bottle. Everything we ordered came to under $30, which I thought was very reasonable. I would definitely come back to try some of their other dishes.

The quality of food here continues to decline. Ordered Pad Thai dish and it was bland and consisted mostly of noodles. The broccoli and Tofu dish was the same. Lots of Tofu though. Will not be returning.

I wanted a small shrimp fried rice. They only had a large size. It was disgusting! I asked for green onions and eggs in my rice. They don't have green onions. There was no eggs in the rice. Regular onions were used and it tasted horrible. It was not fried rice, It was regular white rice covered with brown seasoning to make it look like it was brown fried rice. I will not be going back.

Great crab Rangoon. Containers say "microwave safe" and then they put a big ol' staple in in it. Don't do it! It'll cost you a microwave..

Tom Kha Gai and Schezwan Beef. The soup was weird. Too many veggies and too many that don't belong there. The stock was thin and vinegar like. Not enough coconut flavor. I don't hate it, but have had much better. The fried rice had too much soy sauce. I like a lot, so me saying that means way too much! It was very salty. I asked for medium heat, and I think the rice was included. Not what I wanted! The meat is supposed to be medium and the rice is not to be hot so it balances the meal. I feel like it is the other way around. The beef was all onions. I do not consider onions food. They are an added flavor. Too many onions in this dish. They were OK onions. Very tender, but had that old onion flavor. Most of the meat was tender and very good. A couple bites were chewy and rubbery. The heat was on the low end of medium. Less heat than the rice! Trying to eat the peanuts that are left at the bottom brought out the heat. No sauce left there, but the shredded veggies has the heat and were with the nuts. The crab Rangoon were fantastic! Actual crab flavor. So many places don't make them that way any more. The fortune cookie came with a bonus of donuts. That was very nice. Good texture and fresh. The yummiest part of the meal. I drink a lot while eating. I only got 2 glasses of iced tea. I normally want 4 or 5 glasses. A bit more attention to that would help. I will probably not order the same meal again. But will go back to order from the full menu. They have Thai food that I am hoping is better. Update: Went back during lunch to get the Masaman Curry. The curry was OK. I have had both better and worse. So, just OK. Better than the first time there. Service is still pretty bad. The people are very nice, but not attentive at all. They seemed to always be busy. My soup took a long time to get, and she said the kitchen was busy with take out orders. Except I only saw 4 take out people the whole time I was there, and they were quite spread out. There were 2 people there sitting when I got there. One was eating and the other got her food soon after I sat down. I really do not know what made them look so busy. They did not appear to actually have customers, neither take out, nor sit down. I only got 2 glasses of iced tea. And the second one was only 3/4 of a glass! It's the little things sometimes. I will stick with 3 stars. Food is not bad. But not worth the wait either.
