This suggests that the exterior or initial impression might not be particularly grand or modern. They further elaborated on the atmosphere, noting that it is "not modern and looks a bit rough." We didn't know what to expect when we visited Peking Cafe on our travels. It's a very unassuming little restaurant. The atmosphere is not modern and looks a bit rough. The many over patrons seated inside told me this was a trusted place for good food. Our server was timely and attentive, but not overly friendly. Our food arrived quickly and received a glowing review from most of our family of 5.

A Family Favorite for Decades! We've been loyal patrons of Peking since it first opened in 1970, and it's still our go-to spot for delicious, comforting Chinese food. The service is always warm and friendly, and the quality of food is consistently amazing. Despite inflation, the prices remain surprisingly reasonable. The cream cheese wontons are unbeatable--packed with a generous amount of cream cheese and always crispy. Other favorites include the flavorful fried rice, mouthwatering egg rolls, beef Cantonese, and chop suey chow mein. We highly recommend this place and will continue to do so for years to come! Pro Tip: They only accept cash or checks, so be prepared!

Absolute hidden gem! My wife and I have visited from Arizona and per my wife’s recommendation we tried out Peking Cafe. WOW! Truly some of the very best Chinese food I’ve ever had. The sesame chicken was cooked to perfection and the cream cheese wontons were incredible. Service was top notch, everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Got to chat with the owners and was told they’re the 4th generation running this restaurant. Prices were beyond reasonable especially for the portions and quality. Interior might be dated, but that’s part of the charm. You feel warm and cozy inside like in the good old days. Overall highly recommend as it’s a true gem that will be on our go to list every time we visit the Twin Cities area.

First time here, I was warmly welcomed by the owner Candy, who is awesome, and made great recommendations. We had a wonderful post Vikings season chat... The atmosphere is vintage, the people are great and the food is delicious, exactly what I was looking for! Pork chow mein is the best I've had in years, same with pork egg foo young and chicken fried rice. Seasoned perfectly! This restaurant has been in business for 52 years, and it's easy to see why. Thank you Candy, see you next time, Happy New Year! I rated the food, service and atmosphere 5/5 but it's not showing up for some reason. FYI so you can come prepared, they accept only cash or check:)
