About Pei Wei Asian Kitchen

Pei Wei Asian Kitchen is an Asian Restaurant located at 1085 W Queen Creek Rd #1, Chandler, AZ 85248, USA. You can contact them at (480) 812-2230 or +1 480-812-2230 for orders or inquiries.

Recent customer experiences at this Pei Wei location appear to be mixed. One customer reported a significant issue with their order, receiving shrimp instead of chicken, missing paid-for fried rice, and encountering a staff member who seemed unfamiliar with the menu. This customer, living 12 miles away, declined the offer to return for a corrected order and expressed a strong disinclination to visit this location again, despite noting that the restaurant itself appeared clean and that gluten-free options are available.

Another reviewer, reflecting on the history of Pei Wei, noted a perceived decline in food quality and menu variety since the company was purchased by a private equity firm. This customer lamented the disappearance of items like the Vietnamese chicken salad rolls, which were considered healthy and delicious but reportedly discontinued due to preparation time and manpower concerns. While this information is based on conversations with staff and not directly verifiable, the reviewer expresses a sentiment that the current menu features less distinct dishes, with similar ingredients and sauces across different items.

This reviewer emphasizes that their critique is not directed at the local staff or management, who are seen as doing their jobs well, but rather at the overarching corporate decisions driven by profit maximization. They express a broader concern about the impact of private equity ownership on food quality and the unique character of restaurant chains.

For local users considering Pei Wei Asian Kitchen in Chandler, it's worth noting the availability of gluten-free options. However, recent feedback suggests potential issues with order accuracy and a perceived reduction in menu variety and food quality compared to its past under different ownership. It may be prudent to consider these recent experiences when making your dining decisions.

This location is the worse!!! Completely got my order wrong. I clearly said I wanted chicken and they gave me shrimp. Paid extra for fried rice and they didn't give me any. The person who took my order didn't even know what was on the menu. I called to tell them that my order was wrong, and they told me to come back. I live 12 miles away and with gas prices like this, there was no way that was happening! The restaurant itself seemed fine, or at least clean. But I would never come to this location again. *They do have gluten free options which is nice.

I walked in what I thought I would see was correct. An almost empty dining room. A more empty parking lot and this is Monday at noon on a work day. Before Pei Wei was purchased by a private equity firm It was good food under p.f Chang's. But like all private equity firms, they want to maximize profits, minimize waste and streamline everything. The downside of that is when you streamline food that tastes better with the preparation you lose product and more importantly you lose customers. Long gone is the Vietnamese chicken salad rolls which were extremely healthy and good to eat. They were expensive and I was willing to pay the price for them but from what I understand from the staff that I spoke to a while back is that it took too much time to prepare and that the upper management didn't like the manpower put into this product. Since I don't work for the company, I can't verify that 100%, but it feels about right. I've used the term before the pandemic. Everything has started to taste like everything and that's because so many private equity firms own so many fast food places. It's truly a heartbreaking thing to see. My kids used to love to go to Subway but now they view it with disdain. Instead they go to Jersey Mike's which right now is pursued by private equity firms to take over and I truly hope they don't do it. I did go inside. I did look at the menu and everything was almost a slight variation of everything. Why have more ingredients when the same ingredients can go into different name dishes but they're all basically using the same sauce or a slightly different protein. This review is not against the staff or the management of this location. They can't help it. This is a job that they do and I'm sure they do it well. But the people at the top are the people counting the pennies they simply don't care. This is just another product line that I do not see surviving another 10 years. I go out of my way now to make sure that I know of every privately owned deli and business. If I'm going to spend money there, I wanted to go to someone's dream and not some giant monolith eating machine that doesn't embrace a community but simply exists within the boundaries and leaves no legacy. Good luck out there!

I am giving negative review base on the menu change. The dishes now have less vegetables. The tofu too breading and when u eat it to go, it's not crunchy. Definitely not as healthy as it used to be. No carrots, Broccoli, peas and so little peppers. The portion is really small, like half what it used to be. I will be saying good bye to Pei Wei. RIP 2010-2022 Changed my rating up to 5 stars. Their food taste much better, I think what happened there were too many changes and affected the quality and quantity of the food. Bathroom is clean and not crowded. Now we go here at least once a week.

Ordered in advance, paid in advance and we got there to pick it up they had not prepared anything. The clerk insisted that they never received the order, I showed him the email and the charge on my card. He insisted I would have to order and pay again. I told him I would not leave the place without my order and they finally “found” the order and prepared it in front of us. Mediocre service. Don’t waste your time here. The food is just average. I frequent the Pei Wei locations at Casa Paloma, as well as Guadalupe and McClintock in Tempe. This location does not even compare at all. The cashier seemed confused as we pointed to the menu items and said them by name. She still got the order wrong. We ordered Kung Poa Chicken, we got shrimp (and most of the peanuts were burned). We ordered the Thai Curry and paid extra for fried rice. We got white rice. We called the restaurant and got an, “Oh, sorry.” I guess we will stick to the other locations from now on.
