About Pearl Bay

Pearl Bay is a Chinese restaurant located in Fremont, California, at 43635 Boscell Rd, CA 94538, USA. They can be contacted at (510) 573-1174 or via mobile at +1 510-573-1174. As a Chinese restaurant in the Fremont area, Pearl Bay offers a variety of dining options, including dim sum and banquet-style dinners.

Based on recent customer feedback, Pearl Bay presents a mixed dining experience. One reviewer noted that it is considered one of only two "decent" places for dim sum in Fremont. This customer highlighted a couple of positive aspects: the dim sum is heated to order, suggesting freshness, and the restaurant features a spacious dining room, potentially offering a comfortable and accommodating environment for diners. However, this same reviewer also provided some critique, pointing out the price range of $8-$12 per dim sum dish, which may be perceived as relatively high. Additionally, they mentioned the consistent display of concert videos within the restaurant, which could be a unique feature or a potential distraction depending on individual preferences.

In contrast, another customer shared a significantly less favorable experience regarding a banquet-style dinner they had for a group of ten people, which cost approximately $1,100. This reviewer described the food as "terrible" and of "low quality." Specific issues were raised about the seafood served. Instead of rock cod, they reported being served a different type of fish that was tough and overcooked. Furthermore, they expressed suspicion that a pigeon dish might have been served mixed with pork. A particularly strong point of criticism was the quantity of lobster provided for the group, with the reviewer stating that only two small one-pound lobsters were served for ten people, and they even attached a photo as evidence. Despite the negative feedback on the food, this reviewer did acknowledge that the service was good. Due to the poor quality of the banquet dinner, this customer stated they would not choose Pearl Bay for a group dinner again.

Considering these two recent reviews, it appears that Pearl Bay may offer a different level of quality and value depending on the type of dining experience. For those interested in dim sum, the restaurant is considered a decent option with fresh, made-to-order dishes and a spacious setting, although the pricing per dish might be a consideration. The ambiance with the constant concert videos could be a distinctive characteristic of the restaurant.

However, the experience with the banquet-style dinner seems to have been considerably negative, with serious concerns raised about the quality of the ingredients, the preparation of the food, and the value for money, particularly concerning the seafood dishes. The discrepancy between the expected and delivered food, as well as the insufficient quantity of certain items for a large group, are significant points of concern for potential customers considering Pearl Bay for similar events.

For local users in Fremont seeking a Chinese restaurant, Pearl Bay presents a complex picture based on this recent feedback. If you are specifically looking for a dim sum experience and are comfortable with the reported price range and the concert video ambiance, it might be worth considering. However, if you are planning a large group dinner or prioritize high-quality banquet-style dining, the recent negative review suggests caution. It would be prudent to weigh these experiences and perhaps inquire further about the restaurant's current offerings and quality control measures before making a decision, especially for large events or specific dishes.

There are only two decent places to eat dim sum in Fremont. They heat to order and have a spacious dinning room. The only thing I would critique is 8-12 per dim sum dish and the consistent concert videos being displayed.

Had a banguet style dinner for 10 people at the restaurant for a price of $1,100 or so Food was terrible and of low quality. Instead of rock cod, we were served something else. It was tough and overcooked. We suspect a pigeon dish was cooked and served with pork. They dared to serve 2 small one-pound lobsters for ten people. Photo attached. Service was good. Will not go there for group dinner again.

This was my first time here. I was totally amazed at how big inside it is. We got there at 10 am when they opened . Within one hour, the place filled up. The service was awesome. Our food came quickly, hot & fresh. Employees are friendly and helpful with the menu. Desserts were to die for. I will definitely go back and be there at 10 am.

Pearl Bay Restaurant is one of the better dim sum restaurants I like in the Bay area. Most dim sums are better than average, but they're pricy. I guess you get what you paid for, which is true most of the time. The service is good compared to the average Chinese restaurant. The dining room is new and comfortable, with lots of noise, as all the dim sum restaurants do. The parking lot is clean and safe. I feel very comfortable to park my car there.
