About Panda Garden

Panda Garden is a Chinese restaurant located at 275 W Mt Pleasant Ave #2442 in Philadelphia, PA. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, Panda Garden offers a selection of Chinese cuisine for local patrons.

Customer reviews present a generally negative sentiment regarding the food quality. One reviewer described their meal as the worst Chinese food they had ever experienced, citing issues with overcooked and greasy shrimp lo mein, undercooked fried rice, tasteless wonton soup with disproportionately large wontons, excessively greasy crab rangoon, and sweet tea that tasted like grape Kool-Aid. This customer stated they would not return.

Another customer who ordered chicken rice soup, BBQ ribs, and General Tso's chicken also reported a negative experience. While they found the person taking their order to be nice and noted the basic take-out atmosphere with available seating, they had several concerns about the food. The chicken in the soup was described as having a weird shape and texture, possibly resembling remade pulverized chicken. The BBQ ribs were tender but overly salty and charred, with a lack of BBQ flavor. The General Tso's chicken had a thick, crunchy breading that overwhelmed the small amount of chicken, which also had an unusual texture. The sauce was deemed just okay, and the broccoli was rubbery. This customer's stomach felt unwell for two days after eating the food, leading them to conclude they would not be a returning customer.

i genuinely think this is the worst chinese food i've ever had in my life-- shrimp lo mein overcooked, mushy, and soaked in grease, fried rice somehow undercooked right next to it, wonton soup tastes like dishwater and the TWO wontons are huge and don't have nearly enough filling to justify the size, crab rangoon so greasy i gagged biting into it, and this sweet tea somehow tastes like grape koolaid-- never coming back here EVER again

Went here for the first time and ordered chicken rice soup, BBQ ribs, and General Tso's chicken--3 items I most often get from take-out places. The person taking my order was nice, and ordering and paying was fine. Atmosphere-wise, it's a basic take-out place. They did have several chairs for sitting and waiting, which I appreciated. The soup tssted best to me of the 3 items, but the chicken pieces were weird in shape and texture--really soft, like maybe pulverized chicken powder was remade into chicken bits...? Not great. The BBQ ribs were nice and tender, but super salty and overly charred to the point of parts of them being burnt to inedible. Not a lot of BBQ flavor. The General Tso's had a thick layer of breading, which kept the crunchiness, but overwhelmed the amount of chicken, and the chicken was again a weird texture, as with the soup. The sauce was ok, not very good. The broccoli was a bit rubbery. The white rice that accompanied was fine. The total was around $27 (tip separate.) My stomach felt "off" for 2 days after eating here. I won't be going back.

My family and I order delivery from here regularly and they’ve never disappointed us. Everything is always hot, fresh and delicious. Delivery times are reasonable, too. For the taste, portions and price, you can’t beat them as far as local Chinese options go. I highly recommend the chicken or beef curry lunch special!

I greatly appreciate the Chinese cuisine and take out entries at this West Mt Airy restaurant. Some of the other reviewer entries could have involved ordering from them when they were shorthanded or from over a year ago. Repeatedly, I have ordered their vegetable soup which is likely the best in town including center city and Chinatown restaurants that I also enjoy. In this stellar soup, the broth is flavorful but besides such vegetables & ingredients as broccoli, tofu, snow pea, mushrooms, and water chestnuts, uniquely there are also sliced zucchini, carrots and another melon which are sliced in gourmet fashion with a ridged cut giving it an appealing texture and flavor (with all ingredients cooked just right). Recently, on Christmas day, I ordered chicken with mixed vegetables which had a subtle and very flavorful taste along with vegetable sautéed rice (with appealing yellow rice and various vegetables including broccoli, carrot, onion, red pepper and another vegetable, cooked moist and right). Lastly, another sign of a good Chinese restaurant is a solid hot and sour soup & Panda Garden has it (with the right combination of hot, sour and some sweet flavor along with thinly sliced bamboo shoots, carrots, tofu, mushrooms, & other ingredients). Good portions and affordable prices. Very much recommended.

I’ll update my review after I receive my food, but I ordered delivery for one person nothing crazy— 50 minutes after I ordered I called back to check and they said my food was still being prepared….. Update: I’m going to leave it at 2 stars. It’s edible. But bland. And cold considering I waited over an hour. Fried rice has only onion, no other veggies, no egg, no flavor. Same with my chicken and broccoli, tastes like it missing the cornstarch, fish sauce, ginger, something I don’t know. Im disappointed because I was looking for a place that delivered on Monday because kings garden is closed on Mondays.
