About Panda Garden

Welcome to Panda Garden, a Chinese restaurant located at 2423 Callahan Dr, Knoxville, TN 37912, USA. For inquiries or to place an order, you can contact them at (865) 938-8922 or their mobile number +1 865-938-8922. Panda Garden serves the Knoxville community with a variety of Chinese dishes, offering both a dine-in experience in a cozy setting and convenient takeout options.

According to recent customer reviews, Panda Garden offers a dining atmosphere described as "simply decorated but cozy." This suggests a comfortable and welcoming environment for those who choose to eat at the restaurant. The service model involves ordering at the counter, and once your dish is prepared, it is called out for you to pick up. This counter-service approach likely contributes to the efficiency and affordability highlighted in one of the reviews.

One customer who tried the chicken and vegetable lunch praised the generous portion size, especially considering the price of only $8.50. This positive feedback indicates that Panda Garden offers good value for money, providing substantial meals at an affordable cost. The reviewer also expressed their intention to return to try more dishes, suggesting a positive initial experience with the food and the overall value proposition.

However, another customer reported a significant issue with the quality of their meal. While they noted that the food tasted good, they found a concerning amount of mildew on the cabbage or lettuce in their Chicken Mei Fun. This is a serious food safety concern and highlights a potential lapse in the handling or freshness of ingredients. The presence of mildew indicates spoilage and could pose a health risk to consumers. This negative feedback is important for potential customers to consider alongside the positive comments about the taste and price.

Based on the available information, Panda Garden presents itself as an affordable Chinese restaurant in Knoxville with a cozy, albeit simply decorated, dining area. The service is counter-based, which likely helps keep costs down. A notable feature is the generous portion sizes offered, as highlighted by a customer who found the chicken and vegetable lunch to be a good value. This could be appealing to those looking for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.

However, the report of mildew on the vegetables in the Chicken Mei Fun is a significant drawback. Food safety and the freshness of ingredients are paramount in any food establishment, and the presence of mildew suggests a potential issue that needs to be addressed. While one customer found the taste of the food to be good, this positive aspect is overshadowed by the concern regarding the quality and handling of the vegetables in at least one dish.

For local users in Knoxville considering Panda Garden, the information suggests a budget-friendly option with a comfortable dining space and generous portions. The counter service model is straightforward and efficient. The positive review of the chicken and vegetable lunch indicates that some dishes are well-received and offer good value. However, the finding of mildew on a dish is a serious issue that potential customers should be aware of. It might be prudent to inquire about the freshness of ingredients or perhaps consider ordering dishes that are less likely to contain raw vegetables if this concern is significant.

Given the limited number of reviews available, it is difficult to determine how representative these experiences are of the overall quality and standards at Panda Garden. The positive review suggests a good experience with affordability and portion size, while the negative review raises serious food safety concerns. Local residents might want to consider these points when making a decision. If affordability and generous portions are key factors, Panda Garden might be worth a try, but it would be wise to be mindful of the reported issue with ingredient freshness.

In conclusion, Panda Garden in Knoxville offers a cozy and affordable Chinese dining experience with counter service. Customers have noted generous portion sizes and good value for money. However, a concerning report of mildew found on vegetables in one dish highlights potential issues with food safety and ingredient freshness. Local users should consider both the positive aspects of affordability and portion size, as well as the negative report regarding food quality, when deciding whether to dine at Panda Garden.

A simply decorated but cozy dining area. You have to order from the counter area and they call out your dish when it's ready. The price for my chicken and vegetable lunch was only $8.50 and it was a generous portion. I will go back again to try more dishes.

While the food tasted good, my Chicken Mei Fun had a bunch of mildew on the cabbage/lettuce. 😷

We stopped in while working in the area. The food was about mall quality. All right, but nothing amazing. The chicken seemed to be a little chewy. The wait was about 15 minutes from order till it was brought out. Seemed like a while. I would give the customer service about a 2 out of 5. When we ordered the woman seemed annoyed. No niceties whatsoever. When the food was brought out we said thank you, but she just dropped it on the table and turned around. There was no sweet tea. Their fridge appeared to have some white cups labeled unsweetened, but I'm not sure what that was about exactly. We will probably not eat here again unless we are dying for Asian style dishes by Lowes. Update: We ate here again. Customer service and food were both worse than before. Everything had the same nasty sauce on it. The cashier looked at us like we were idiots while ordering, only talking to the other worker. We will not return again.

Ordered vegetable Lo Mein and general tso’s chicken with broccoli and white rice. The Lo Mein was great! Good noodle, firm fresh veggies. The white rice was good. But now the General Tso’s chicken…well the sauce is very thick and sweet without any spice and there is ALOT of it! The chicken of course is dark meat and a little grisly. It was very disappointing! I would never order the General Tso chicken again.

The BEST moderately priced Chinese in Knoxville. This is our go to place about once a month. The egg rolls are the absolute best anywhere, at $1 each, it makes a great lunch. 90+% of their business is take out.
