About Panda Garden Chinese Buffet & BBQ

Welcome to Panda Garden Chinese Buffet & BBQ, a Chinese restaurant located at 1000 E Alameda St #118 in Norman, Oklahoma (OK 73071), USA. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, Panda Garden offers a buffet-style dining experience that includes a variety of traditional Chinese dishes along with BBQ options. While the concept of a diverse buffet with a wide array of choices might sound appealing, recent customer feedback raises significant concerns regarding the overall dining experience at this establishment.

One review details a particularly negative experience during a lunch visit by two handicap and disabled Veterans. Upon entering, they observed that "every empty table was dirty," which immediately sets a concerning tone regarding the restaurant's cleanliness. The seating arrangement process was also problematic. Despite requesting a table (which would be easier for them to access), they were initially led to the front and then moved to a booth "almost at the door we walked in at!!" This suggests a lack of consideration for customer needs and potentially inefficient seating management. Furthermore, they had to "ask for silverware to eat," indicating a basic oversight in table preparation.

Regarding the food, while the reviewer acknowledged "a lot of choices and variety of options," they found that "just all the traditional Food was super bland!" This is a significant criticism for a Chinese restaurant, as flavor is a primary expectation. The reviewer expressed disappointment, especially considering that Panda Garden is described as a "newer restaurant to the area." On a more positive note, they mentioned that the "prices are very good for the amount you have the opportunity for is also," suggesting that the cost might be appealing for a buffet setting. However, the lack of flavor in the main dishes significantly detracts from this potential benefit. The dessert selection was noted as having "not that many choices" but did include soft serve ice cream. Overall, this customer was "Very Disappointed" and made the decision "to not go back!"

Adding to these concerns, the reviewer also mentioned a "Language barrier with the host was extreme," which could lead to difficulties in communication and potentially impact the overall customer service experience. Finally, they noted that the staff "Didn’t check on us till we was leaving with ticket," indicating a lack of attentiveness during their meal.

Another customer review paints an even more negative picture, stating, "This was the worst chinese I have ever had in my life." This is an extremely strong indictment of the food quality. The reviewer described the taste as "nasty, cold, and unedible," highlighting severe issues with the food's palatability and temperature. Specific items mentioned include "Polish sausage was hard, chewed, and cold," which is particularly alarming as Polish sausage is not a traditional Chinese dish and its poor quality raises questions about the overall standards of the buffet. The noodles were described as "al dente no sauce," suggesting they were undercooked and lacked proper preparation. Even the "fried shrimp was bad," indicating a failure with a commonly enjoyed dish. This reviewer also mentioned that they visited during a "lunch rush," implying that the poor food quality might be related to the restaurant being busy, but this does not excuse serving cold and inedible food.

Based on these two reviews, it is challenging to ascertain any positive features of Panda Garden Chinese Buffet & BBQ. Both customers reported significant dissatisfaction with their experiences. The first review highlighted issues with cleanliness, disorganized service, bland food, a language barrier with the host, and inattentive staff. The second review focused almost entirely on the extremely poor quality of the food, describing it as nasty, cold, and inedible, with specific examples of poorly prepared items.

The environment is not described in detail, but the mention of dirty empty tables suggests potential issues with cleanliness and upkeep of the dining area. The service is portrayed negatively in both reviews, with complaints about seating arrangements, lack of basic table setup (no silverware), inattentiveness from staff, and a language barrier with the host.

The main feature of Panda Garden is its buffet format, offering a variety of Chinese and BBQ options at what one reviewer noted as "very good" prices for the amount of choice. However, this potential benefit is severely undermined by the reported bland and even inedible quality of the food. The limited dessert selection with only soft serve ice cream as a notable item might also be a drawback for some customers.

Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Given the overwhelmingly negative feedback regarding food quality and service, it would be advisable for potential customers to exercise caution and perhaps consider alternative dining options in the Norman, OK area.

In conclusion, Panda Garden Chinese Buffet & BBQ in Norman, OK, appears to be a Chinese restaurant that is currently facing significant challenges based on recent customer reviews. Concerns regarding cleanliness, disorganized and inattentive service, bland and even inedible food, and potential communication barriers have been raised. While the buffet format offers a variety of choices at potentially good prices, the reported poor quality of the food and the negative service experiences seem to outweigh any potential benefits. Local users seeking a reliable and enjoyable Chinese dining experience in Norman may want to look elsewhere based on this feedback.

It’s been a while, but it is the same quality as when I was in school. Brought my daughter who is now at OU. Dinner Buffett menu was hot, fresh and clean.

I love panda garden BUT if you go an hour before close, they start cleaning. Today at 8:30 pm they were vacuuming around the table we were sitting at! This is unacceptable. They also start cleaning up food before 9 with a close time of 9:30. I understand prepping for close, but this is truly unacceptable and disrespectful to your customers. Do better.

I went here once and the food was not good. I gave them a second chance and the food was worse. Putrid is a word that comes to mind. Some called steak chicken that looked like grilled chicken thighs tasted like spoiled meat that had been boiled in soy sauce The general chicken tasted like old chicken that had been coooked multiple times over and it literally shredded in my teeth like dried out meat. Even the rice noodles had a weird taste that was not good. The eggroll, probably frozen and ordered in mass quantities as many of these places use is kinda hard to screw up, but they managed. It was gooey as if not cooked through. The sushi was was if I had eaten a gobful of nothing but cream cheese. I normally don't say anything at all if I don't like the food somewhere, but this was really, really bad and I pretty much left with my plate still full of food not fit to eat. Our waitress was nice and attentive, so I gave 5 stars for service. Wish I could give 0 stars for the food.
