About Panda Express
Panda Express is a well-known chain of Chinese restaurants, and this particular location serves the community within the Lions Den Food Court, situated in the Student Union at Southeastern Louisiana University, located at 303 Union Ave, Hammond, LA 70402, USA. As a Chinese restaurant operating within a university food court, Panda Express offers a convenient and readily accessible option for students, faculty, and visitors seeking familiar American-Chinese fast food. They can be contacted at (985) 549-5479 or via mobile phone at +1 985-549-5479.
The environment of this Panda Express location is typical of a food court setting. It is likely characterized by a casual and bustling atmosphere, catering primarily to individuals looking for a quick meal. Seating is generally communal within the food court area, providing a space for customers from various eateries to dine. The focus is on efficiency and quick service to accommodate the typically high traffic within a university student union, especially during peak hours like lunch and dinner times. You can expect a functional space designed for fast turnover rather than an elaborate or intimate dining experience.
As a fast-food chain, the services offered by Panda Express are primarily centered around quick and convenient meal options. Customers typically order at a counter, select their desired dishes from pre-prepared options displayed, and receive their food promptly. Takeout service is a significant aspect of their operation, allowing customers to enjoy their meals elsewhere. While dine-in is available within the food court's seating area, full table service is not provided. The emphasis is on self-service and efficiency. Given its location within a university setting, online ordering through the Panda Express app or other food delivery platforms might also be available, offering added convenience for the university community.
Panda Express is known for its specific style of American-Chinese cuisine, featuring a selection of popular dishes that have become familiar to many. Their menu typically includes signature items such as Orange Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Broccoli Beef, and Chow Mein. These dishes are usually prepared in large batches and kept warm in serving stations, allowing for quick assembly of customer orders. A key feature of Panda Express is the ability for customers to customize their meals by choosing a base (like rice or noodles) and selecting a certain number of entrees. This allows for a degree of personalization and the opportunity to try different combinations of flavors. The focus is on providing consistent and recognizable flavors at an affordable price point, catering to a broad audience seeking a quick and satisfying meal.
However, the provided customer reviews offer some critical perspectives on this particular Panda Express location at Southeastern Louisiana University. One reviewer, a self-proclaimed regular customer of the chain, notes that the food at this specific location is "consistently blander, overcooked." This suggests a potential deviation in food quality compared to other Panda Express outlets. The reviewer speculates that stricter requirements within a university setting might contribute to this, drawing a comparison to "school cafeteria territory" in terms of taste. However, they also point out that other food vendors on campus maintain their standard taste profiles, suggesting that the university environment might not be the sole factor. This feedback indicates a potential issue with the consistency and quality of the food preparation at this specific branch.
Another review mentions "rude" employees and "significantly smaller portions" than typically received at other Panda Express locations. This highlights concerns regarding both the customer service and the value proposition at this particular restaurant. Receiving smaller portions can be particularly disappointing for customers who have expectations based on their experiences at other Panda Express locations. Coupled with a negative interaction with the staff, this review suggests potential issues with the overall customer experience at this branch.

Customer Reviews
I usually like Panda Express but this one has consistently blander, overcooked food. Granted, maybe there are stricter requirements at a university or something because it leans into school cafeteria territory for certain levels of taste but the Subway on campus tastes like Subway, and the Starbucks food and drinks taste like Starbucks food and drink, so that's probably not the issue. I can't speak to the other set of eateries but at the very least I know I'm going to be avoiding the vending machine sushi... and so should everyone, ever.
Employees were rude and gave significantly smaller portions than we usually receive.
My grandson favorite place!! And he’s picky!!
Not real Chinese food, also they don't give u a lot when you pay a lot... No good to me ☹️
It's not worst I've had.
