About Panda Express

Welcome to the on-campus dining scene at the University of North Florida (UNF) in Jacksonville, where Panda Express offers a convenient option for those craving Chinese-inspired cuisine. Situated at 1 UNF Dr., Building 58, this particular Panda Express aims to serve the university community with a variety of familiar dishes.

As a Chinese Restaurant within the broader category of dining options available on campus, Panda Express typically provides a quick-service format. This generally involves a cafeteria-style setup where customers can select their desired entrees, sides, and appetizers as they move along a serving line. The menu often features popular American Chinese dishes that have become widely recognized.

Based on general knowledge of the Panda Express brand, customers can usually expect a selection of entrees such as their signature Orange Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Broccoli Beef, and Sweet Fire Chicken Breast. These are often paired with choices of chow mein, fried rice, white rice, or brown rice. Additionally, appetizers like spring rolls and cream cheese rangoon are commonly available to complement the main meal. Beverages, including soft drinks and iced tea, are also typically offered.

The environment of a Panda Express, particularly one located on a university campus, is generally geared towards providing a functional and efficient space for students, faculty, and staff to grab a meal. You can likely expect a casual setting with tables and chairs for on-site dining, although many customers may opt for takeout given the fast-paced nature of campus life. The ambiance is usually bright and clean, focusing on practicality and ease of access.

In terms of services, Panda Express primarily operates on a counter-service model. Customers place their orders at the counter, and the food is prepared and served quickly. Takeout service is also a standard offering, allowing individuals to enjoy their meals elsewhere. Payment options typically include cash, credit cards, and potentially university-specific meal cards if integrated with the campus dining system.

While Panda Express as a brand has established certain features, such as its standardized menu and quick service, the specific experiences at individual locations can vary. It is important to consider recent feedback when evaluating a particular restaurant. The provided customer reviews for this UNF location offer some direct insights into recent experiences.

One review expresses significant dissatisfaction with the staff, stating that the "workers can't be bothered" and suggesting a lack of effort. This customer also criticizes the portion size, specifically mentioning "ONE piece of teriyaki chicken" and its taste, which reportedly did not resemble teriyaki. The reviewer felt the meal was severely overpriced given the perceived lack of quality and effort, even requesting a refund and recommending a complete staff overhaul, suggesting that other students would be more willing to work diligently.

Another customer echoed similar sentiments, describing a long wait time followed by receiving a small amount of food. This reviewer also found the teriyaki chicken to be unlike teriyaki and noted a "weird chemical flavor" in the orange chicken. Furthermore, the lo mein was described as "unseasoned" and "dehydrated," possibly indicating old noodles. This customer concluded it was the "worst Panda I have ever been to" and advised others to eat off campus, also suggesting the hiring of more competent staff.

These reviews paint a concerning picture of the current state of this particular Panda Express location at UNF. They highlight potential issues with food quality, portion sizes, and customer service. It is crucial to acknowledge these comments as direct feedback from individuals who have recently dined at this establishment.

The workers can't be bothered, which is sad because there are several other students that'd be willing to actually put 10% effort in. Like Qdoba, the workers look dead and i'm fairly certain they're baked. They need a complete overhaul of their workers. Look at that photo. That is ONE piece of teriyaki chicken. It doesn't even taste like teriyaki. I've never said or thought this but I actually want a refund, because this bowl should have been $1 with the amount of effort they put in. Start firing people. There are kids here that need jobs and would like to work on campus.

I waited forever for them to give me barely any food after paying for a plate. The teriyaki chicken didn't even taste like teriyaki and the orange chicken has this weird chemical flavor to it. Not to mention the lo mein was unseasoned and was dehydrated...probably old noodles to be honest. This is by far the worst panda I have ever been to. Don't waste your time, eat off campus. Also, hire better staff that doesn't have room temp IQ.

Expect to be insulted/hit on. They need to fire that guy sal or sai. Has asked me why I looked so dull three seperate times (after just dealing with a familial death btw) so i finally told him that he doesn’t look that great either and that i had to tell him my order three seperate times because he seems so mentally incompetent. Horrible service. Never going back there.

Is there a program to hire the mentally deficient? Like I'm genuinely curious if these were invalids hired out of charity cause that would explain some things. How do you even make orange chicken...crunchy. like crunched like a cracker. I had to explain myself to the employees so much to get subpar food.

Probably one of the worst Pandas I’ve been to. The fried rice is basically white rice, it’s like they ran out of soy sauce. The 2 meat items I got both have 0 flavour, it tastes like it was cooked with only water. Definitely driving to an actual Panda Express from now on.
