About Panda Express

Located at 1494 S Hanley Rd, Richmond Heights, MO 63117, USA, **Panda Express** is a widely recognized fast-casual Chinese Restaurant chain. Unlike traditional sit-down Chinese eateries, Panda Express operates on a model designed for speed and convenience, offering a streamlined selection of American Chinese dishes for quick service, whether for dine-in, takeout, or delivery. The Richmond Heights location can be reached at (314) 781-8888 or via mobile at +1 314-781-8888.

The concept of Panda Express is to provide familiar Chinese-inspired flavors in a fast-food setting, often seen in shopping centers, airports, and standalone locations. The menu typically features a rotating selection of popular entrees, sides, and appetizers. Signature dishes that have gained widespread popularity include **The Original Orange Chicken**, known for its sweet and tangy glazed fried chicken, and **Grilled Teriyaki Chicken**, a healthier grilled option. Other common menu items include Beijing Beef, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Broccoli Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, Black Pepper Chicken, String Bean Chicken Breast, and Eggplant Tofu. For sides, customers can choose from options like fried rice, chow mein, white steamed rice, brown steamed rice, and Super Greens (steamed mixed vegetables). Appetizers often include spring rolls, egg rolls, and cream cheese rangoon. The convenience of mixing and matching sides and entrees, often presented in bowl, plate, or "bigger plate" formats, is a key feature of their service.

The environment at Panda Express locations is generally characterized by a bright, modern, and functional design, typical of fast-casual restaurants. Food is displayed in hot-holding tables, allowing customers to see the options and make quick selections. The Richmond Heights location likely follows this standard design. However, customer reviews for this specific location paint a more challenging picture regarding the environment and the availability of food. One review vividly describes "nearly every food container was completely empty and dirty" on a Sunday at 4 PM, and even states that an employee wouldn't serve fried rice because it was "so old and nasty." Another visit on a Monday at 11:50 AM revealed shortages of key items like teriyaki chicken, bourbon chicken, and chow mein, with no one actively preparing more. These observations suggest significant issues with food availability, freshness, and cleanliness at this particular branch during the times reported, indicating that the ideal fast-casual environment might not always be consistently maintained.

Service at this Panda Express location also appears to be a point of concern based on customer feedback. While the fast-casual model aims for quick service, reviews indicate a disconnect. One customer noted that ordering online to avoid waiting actually resulted in their order taking "twice as long to come out," eventually being completed 17 minutes past the initial 20-minute wait time. The supervisor's response of "just said they are doing their best" without an apology further highlights a perceived lack of proactive customer service. The review mentions "4 employees chit chatting through the kitchen doors. Just hanging out and having fun," implying a lack of engagement and efficiency from the staff. This directly contradicts the expectation of prompt and attentive service that a fast-casual chain is designed to provide. While Panda Express as a brand aims for "exceptional service," these specific local reviews suggest that the execution at the 1494 S Hanley Rd location may fall short of this standard.

Regarding features, Panda Express offers online ordering, which is a significant convenience for customers. This feature allows patrons to place their orders ahead of time for pickup or delivery, theoretically reducing wait times. However, as noted in the reviews, the online ordering system's efficiency might be hampered by operational issues within the restaurant itself. The chain also offers catering services for larger events and has a rewards program, "Panda Rewards," where customers can earn points for purchases that can be redeemed for various items, such as upgrades to premium entrees, free appetizers, or even entire meals. They also frequently run promotions, such as bonus cards for gift card purchases. These features are standard across the Panda Express franchise and are designed to enhance customer loyalty and convenience.

Promotional information for Panda Express, generally, includes seasonal specials, new menu item launches, and value meal combinations. They often promote their "Wok Smart" options, which are dishes with fewer calories and more vegetables, catering to health-conscious diners. The "Bowl," "Plate," and "Bigger Plate" options allow customers to customize their meals based on their hunger level and desired variety. For instance, a Bowl offers one side and one entree, a Plate provides one side and two entrees, and a Bigger Plate includes one side and three entrees. Family meals, such as a "5 Person Family Meal" with two large sides and three large entrees, are also available for group dining. While specific current promotions for the Richmond Heights location aren't detailed in the reviews, the general Panda Express brand frequently engages in such offers. However, the issues with food availability and service mentioned in the reviews might impact the ability of this particular location to fully deliver on the convenience and value that these promotions typically promise.

In conclusion, Panda Express at 1494 S Hanley Rd in Richmond Heights, MO, is part of a large fast-casual Chinese Restaurant chain known for its American Chinese menu, featuring popular dishes like Orange Chicken. While the brand aims for a clean environment and efficient service, customer reviews for this specific location highlight significant operational challenges, including frequent shortages of popular food items, concerns about food freshness, and perceived slow or disengaged service, particularly for online orders. These issues suggest that while the concept of quick, customizable Chinese food is appealing, the execution at this particular branch has been inconsistent. Potential customers should be aware of these reported challenges when considering their dining options here, despite the broad appeal and widespread recognition of the Panda Express brand.

I've tried eating here twice know and both times you're out of basic items. Sunday at 4pm, nearly every food container was completely empty and dirty. It was so bad that the employee wouldn't even serve the fried rice because it was so old and nasty. Why was it even sitting there? Came back the next day, Monday, for lunch at 11:50 am, no teriyaki chicken, no bourbon chicken, no choy main. Best part, no one making any more. I see 4 employees chit chatting through the kitchen doors. Just hanging out and having and fun. Your employees are so lazy. Why bother keeping this store open. Get out of my neighborhood, and let someone else have the lease. When they have food, it's generally good.

To call the service slow would imply they provide service. Apparently if you order online to avoid the wait means your order will take twice as long to come out. My order was finally completed 17 minutes past the initial 20 minute wait time. The supervisor on duty didn't bother to apologize but just said they are doing their best. People who walked in after me were done eating and leaving before I received my order.

The service is terrible. This is not a unique problem, it’s something panda express should control more. I’m completely tired to arrive to establishments 30, 45 or even 60minutes earlier than they close and they almost don’t have any product to sell, they are already cleaning and getting ready to close within 1 whole hour! This is ridiculous and it’s a really bad business for the company, and for the costumer. I was waiting on the line for 10 minutes to tell me at the end they weren’t haven’t any food because they wasted everything doing uber online orders in my face while I was watching it and everything was gone and I had to leave with nothing after being waiting. Ridiculous

Ordered online and received a text stating food was ready fur pickup. Got there and my order was nowhere in sight. Had to wait for super greens to cook. No one apologized for the inconvenience. I was late for work. Also, the lady that prepared my teriyaki chicken was very stingy with the portion of chicken. Not worth it.

Yum yum. I don't get it often but it's always delicious. It was hot. They are busy even during "slow" times. Worth the wait though.
