About Panda Express
Panda Express is a well-known chain of Chinese fast food restaurants, and this particular location is situated at 27670-b Santa Margarita Parkway in Mission Viejo, California (zip code 92691). As a "Chinese Restaurant" in the fast food category, Panda Express typically offers a self-service format where customers can choose from a variety of pre-prepared dishes displayed behind a counter. They can be contacted at (949) 458-1483 or their mobile number +1 949-458-1483 for inquiries or to place orders for pickup or potential delivery.
Panda Express is known for its American-Chinese cuisine, featuring popular dishes such as orange chicken, broccoli beef, kung pao chicken, chow mein, and fried rice. The chain aims to provide quick and convenient meals, often served in combination plates with a choice of entrees, sides, and appetizers. It caters to a broad customer base looking for familiar Chinese-inspired flavors in a fast-food setting.
However, the customer reviews available for this specific Panda Express location in Mission Viejo paint a concerning picture regarding the quality of food and potentially the operational practices. One reviewer expressed strong dissatisfaction, stating, "Why is the food at this location so awful? Do they not follow recipes correctly? This is by far the worst location I have ever been to." They specifically mentioned that the "chow mein has no flavor and is never fresh" and that the food, in general, is "not enjoyable to eat." This reviewer went as far as to suggest that the location should have its cooks trained by staff from other Panda Express branches and raised suspicions about food being kept past its allowed time.
Another long-term customer echoed these negative sentiments, claiming that this particular location has "always sucked for years" and is "probably one of the worst in OC or South OC." Their most recent experience, which involved using a promotional code, resulted in what they described as "complete inedible garbage." Specific issues included "undercooked noodles," "raw rice in the fried rice," and chicken teriyaki with a "slimy chewy consistency." This reviewer also alleged that the location might be serving lower-grade food or items that should be discarded to fulfill orders, particularly online orders or those using promotional deals. They expressed a strong desire for the location to go out of business and criticized the portion sizes as being consistently poor. This reviewer further suggested that customers seeking a better experience at Panda Express should visit locations in Aliso Viejo, Laguna Niguel, or the mall.
Based on these strongly negative reviews, it is difficult to ascertain positive aspects of the environment at this Panda Express location. Fast food restaurants typically prioritize efficiency and cleanliness in their dining areas. However, the severe criticisms regarding food quality and potential food handling practices raise concerns that could extend to the overall operational standards of the establishment, including the environment. If the food is consistently under par, it might suggest broader issues within the location's management and staff training.
In terms of services, Panda Express generally offers both dine-in and takeout options. Many locations also provide online ordering and delivery through their own platform or third-party services. Given the negative reviews, customers considering this Mission Viejo location might be hesitant to utilize any of these services due to concerns about the food quality, regardless of the convenience offered. It would be advisable to check the Panda Express website or contact the store directly to confirm the availability of specific services like online ordering and delivery for this particular location.
Features that typically define Panda Express as a chain include its standardized menu, quick service model, and relatively affordable prices. However, the reviews for this specific location suggest a significant deviation from the expected standards in terms of food quality and freshness. The consistency and adherence to recipes, which are usually hallmarks of a franchise, seem to be lacking according to the customer feedback. The negative comments about flavorless chow mein, undercooked noodles, raw rice, and the texture of the chicken teriyaki indicate a failure to deliver on the basic expectations of the brand.
Regarding promotional information, Panda Express as a corporation frequently offers various promotions, such as online deals, family meal bundles, and discounts tied to special events or partnerships (as mentioned in one review referencing a Dodgers win promo code). However, the negative reviews for this Mission Viejo location suggest that customers utilizing these promotions might also receive the same substandard food quality reported by regular patrons. Therefore, while Panda Express as a whole may have promotional offerings, the value and experience at this specific location appear to be severely compromised according to the available feedback.
In conclusion, the Panda Express located at 27670-b Santa Margarita Parkway in Mission Viejo, CA, has received overwhelmingly negative reviews concerning the quality and freshness of its food. Multiple customers have described the food as awful, inedible, and consistently below the standards of other Panda Express locations. Issues such as flavorless chow mein, undercooked noodles, raw rice, and poorly textured chicken have been reported. There are also serious concerns raised about potential food handling practices and the serving of substandard items, possibly even to customers using promotional offers. Based on this strong negative feedback, local users seeking a satisfactory Panda Express experience are strongly advised to consider visiting other locations in nearby areas like Aliso Viejo, Laguna Niguel, or the mall, as suggested by a long-term customer. The issues reported at this Mission Viejo branch appear to be significant and long-standing, indicating a need for substantial improvement in their food preparation and quality control.

Why is the food at this location so awful? Do they not follow recipes correctly? This is by far the worst location I have ever been to. The chow mein has no flavor and is never fresh. The food is not enjoyable to eat. Please get a cook from any other location to train your cooks. I'm also suspicious that they keep the food past the allowed time
This locations always sucked for years. Probably one of the worst in OC or South OC. My last visit was via a dodgers win promocode they're in for it now with a potential 100 win season ahead. Complete inedible garbage outta here undercooked noodles raw rice in the fried rice the chicken teriyaki had a slimy chewy consistency. They clearly expedite all of their lower grade food or stuff that's supposed to be binned/canned to orders or online orders trying to get a deal in this economy. Looking forward to this location going out of business even mv locations portions are as trash as when that patron owned the togos. The only good one locally was at the oso pavilions years back. You have to go to Aliso or Laguna niguel or the mall if you don't want to be served garbage or skimped out portions
7-01-2024 My gf and I left our house just to come here and eat. Well these people that saw us standing outside and walked passed us didn't wanna open the door even though it says they closed at 930, we were there 12min before that.. Yall some lazy people. Btw, goigle says they close at 10, but really, they don't.
This location is across the street from a high school, so during lunch times, it's pretty busy. I recommend going after 1 for lunchtime eating. The food and service have been good, typical for this chain.
I stopped ordering from this location after they burned my food twice on large orders. It was a waste of money. The location off La Paz in Mission Viejo is a much better choice.
