About Panda Express
Panda Express, situated at 300 Polo Rd Room 129 in College Station, TX, is a well-known fast-casual Chinese restaurant chain. As a prominent fixture in the American Chinese cuisine landscape, this particular location, reachable at (979) 773-8811 or +1 979-773-8811, aims to provide convenient and accessible Chinese-inspired meals to the local community, particularly catering to students and staff given its likely proximity to a university campus.
The environment at Panda Express locations typically adheres to a standardized corporate design, emphasizing efficiency and a modern, clean aesthetic. Patrons generally encounter a bright, open space with a service counter displaying various prepared dishes in a cafeteria-style setup, allowing for quick selection and customization of meals. Seating areas are usually designed for casual dining, often featuring a mix of tables and booths suitable for individuals or small groups. The focus is on providing a functional and hygienic space that facilitates a rapid turnover of customers, characteristic of a fast-casual dining experience. While the provided reviews do not specifically detail the physical ambiance of this College Station location, it is reasonable to expect it to align with the brand's established format, which prioritizes speed and accessibility.
Regarding service at this particular Panda Express location, customer reviews indicate a mixed experience. While the brand generally aims for quick and efficient service, feedback for the College Station branch points to areas of concern. One reviewer specifically mentions "very slow service for a fast food restaurant," suggesting that the speed typically associated with Panda Express may not always be met at this location. Additionally, aspects of customer interaction have been highlighted as needing improvement. Comments such as "one of the cashiers is very rude" and a call for "professional training to their employees to learn how to treat customers with courtesy" indicate that the level of customer service may not consistently meet expectations. The instance of a customer being ignored when requesting more chicken teriyaki further underscores a potential lack of attentiveness or responsiveness from staff. These points suggest that while the overarching goal is efficient service, the execution of courteous and responsive customer interaction at this specific branch may vary, impacting the overall patron experience.
The core feature of Panda Express, as a Chinese restaurant in the fast-casual category, lies in its menu of American Chinese comfort food. Patrons typically choose a base, such as chow mein, fried rice, or steamed white/brown rice, and then select from a variety of entrees. Popular dishes commonly found at Panda Express, and presumably at this College Station location, include the iconic Orange Chicken, Beijing Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, Broccoli Beef, and SweetFire Chicken Breast. These dishes are characterized by their accessible flavors, designed to appeal to a broad American palate, often incorporating sweet, savory, and sometimes mildly spicy profiles. The appeal lies in the convenience of pre-prepared dishes that can be quickly assembled into a meal.
However, a significant feature concern highlighted in the provided reviews pertains to portion sizes. Customers have noted that "serving portion is smaller than the other Panda Express locations we’ve been to" and that "side are shrinking in size." A specific complaint detailed "literally only 4 strips" of chicken teriyaki, with the customer expressing doubt about its protein content and being dismissed when asking for more. This indicates a potential inconsistency in portion control at this specific location, which can significantly impact customer perception of value and satisfaction. While the brand's general feature is to offer satisfying meals, these reviews suggest that the execution of generous portions, a common expectation in Chinese fast food, may be lacking at this particular establishment.
From a promotional standpoint, Panda Express, as a national chain, typically relies on consistent branding, digital marketing, and occasional national promotions rather than localized deals from individual franchises. Their primary "promotion" is the convenience and speed of service, appealing to busy individuals looking for a quick meal. The "bowl," "plate," and "bigger plate" options allow customers to customize their meal size, which acts as a form of value proposition. The accessibility of their locations, often in high-traffic areas or near campuses, also serves as a key draw. While specific promotional information for this College Station location is not provided, the general appeal of Panda Express lies in its predictable menu, consistent flavors (when portioning is appropriate), and the ability to get a quick and relatively affordable meal. Any direct promotions would typically be part of a larger, corporate-driven campaign rather than unique to this single branch. However, the feedback regarding shrinking portion sizes could inadvertently detract from the perceived value, acting as a counter-promotion from a customer perspective.
In conclusion, the Panda Express at 300 Polo Rd Room 129 in College Station, TX, serves as a fast-casual option for American Chinese cuisine. It adheres to the brand's standard environment, offering a quick-service dining experience. While the brand is known for its convenient and accessible menu items, customer feedback for this specific location highlights areas where service speed, staff courtesy, and particularly portion sizes may fall short of expectations. For local users, it represents a familiar choice for quick Chinese-inspired food, but potential patrons should be aware of the varied experiences reported regarding service and portioning.

Serving portion is smaller than the other Panda Express locations we’ve been to. In addition, one of the cashiers is very rude. Panda Express should provide professional training to their employees to learn how to treat customers with courtesy.
Very slow service for a fast food restaurant. And side are shrinking in size. I ordered chicken teriyaki last time and they literally gave me only 4 stipes. I don't think that's 36 grams of protein. I asked them to add more but they just said it's been like that size and ignored me.
Not always very fast service, especially around lunch time rush hour, you'll wait a little while then. They don't always have every dish available, especially as they get within an hour of closing time, they simply stop cooking most everything which can be annoying if you want a less popular dish. Other than that, the food is relatively consistent and I continue to come back.
The workers have their efficiency down to a science. Keep them in your thoughts as they deal with a huge volume of customers for hours on end. Remember they are people too
Go before ten or after one. Otherwise, be prepared to wait. If you're short on time, go to Houston St. Subs. Actually, keep going to Panda Express, keep the line next door reasonable for the rest of us. 😄
