About Panda Express

Welcome to Panda Express, a well-known Chinese fast-food chain with a location at 922 N State of Franklin Rd in Johnson City, TN. As a Chinese restaurant in the fast-food category, Panda Express aims to provide quick and convenient Chinese-inspired cuisine. However, recent customer reviews for this particular location paint a concerning picture regarding food availability, quality, and service.

One customer shared a particularly negative experience during a drive-thru visit late on a Sunday evening. Despite the website indicating a 10 PM closing time, an automated message stated they were closed at 9:42 PM. The customer was eventually able to place an order but encountered significant issues with food availability. They reported that the restaurant only had enough orange chicken for half a portion and was out of almost everything else, except for a very small amount of string bean chicken, which disappointingly consisted of only two pieces of chicken and mostly green beans.

Further compounding the negative experience, this customer mentioned that the restaurant was out of foam containers and had to provide a full double portion meal in a combination of a bowl and a "tiny little cube box." The reviewer expressed strong dissatisfaction, labeling this level of service as "piss poor" for a major chain. They also indicated a history of letting issues slide at this store due to their usual liking of the food but stated that this incident was severe enough to deter them from returning. The customer concluded by expressing their intent to contact corporate and their relief that the establishment was not part of their Chamber of Commerce.

Another review focused specifically on the quality of the teriyaki chicken. The customer stated that, "As you can see, the teriyaki chicken was burned badly and made the whole box very nasty looking." This indicates a significant issue with food preparation, resulting in a visually unappetizing and potentially unsafe product. The reviewer also claimed to have repeatedly provided feedback through surveys on their receipts over the past two years regarding this problem, yet no improvement had been observed.

This reviewer further raised a serious health concern, stating that "Charcoal food will cause cancer!!" while urging the restaurant to improve the quality of their teriyaki chicken, upon which they would consider removing their negative review. This highlights a critical failure in food preparation that not only affects the taste and appearance but also raises potential health risks associated with severely burned food.

Based on these two recent reviews, the Panda Express location in Johnson City, TN, appears to be facing significant challenges in terms of food availability, quality control, and potentially service efficiency, particularly during later hours. Customers have reported being unable to order desired items due to them being out of stock, receiving portions that do not match their orders, and encountering severely burned food.

The fact that one customer had experienced issues with the teriyaki chicken for at least two years without any apparent improvement is particularly concerning. This suggests a systemic problem that has not been adequately addressed by the management of this location.

For local users in Johnson City, TN, considering Panda Express on N State of Franklin Rd, these recent reviews serve as a strong caution. While Panda Express is generally known as a convenient fast-food option for Chinese-inspired dishes, the experiences reported at this specific location indicate potential issues with reliability, quality, and customer service. The limited availability of menu items, the improper handling of order portions, and the serving of burned food are significant red flags.

Given these issues, local customers might want to consider these recent experiences before choosing to dine at or order from this particular Panda Express location. If you are planning to visit, especially closer to closing time, it would be prudent to inquire about the availability of your desired dishes before placing your order. Additionally, it would be wise to inspect your food for proper preparation and quality before leaving the premises or accepting a delivery.

The lack of positive feedback in these recent reviews, coupled with the serious nature of the complaints (food unavailability, incorrect portions, burned food, and unresolved issues over an extended period), suggests that this Panda Express location may not be meeting the brand's standard for quality and service at this time.

Local residents who have had similar negative experiences are encouraged to follow the advice of one reviewer and contact corporate to voice their concerns. Customer feedback is crucial for any food establishment to identify and address areas needing improvement.

In conclusion, while Panda Express is a national chain, the recent experiences at the Johnson City, TN, location warrant careful consideration. Potential customers should be aware of the reported issues with food availability, quality, and service and proceed with caution.

Came through the drive thru at 9:42 on a Sunday.. Automatic message said they were closed, checked the website and they close at 10.. I said "Hello?" and they took my order.. only had enough orange chicken for half a portion and were out of everything else besides a spoonful of string bean chicken (turned out to be 2 pieces of chicken and all green beans), they apologized for being out of foam containers but gave me one of the bowls and a tiny little cube box for a full double portion meal. This is piss poor of any major chain. I've let a lot slide from this store over the years because I like the food normally, but I will not be back. Things like this is why people would rather not eat overpriced fast food. I will be calling their corporate tomorrow. I am glad they are not part of our Chamber of Commerce or I would have some strong words for their GM at our next group meeting

As you can see, the teriyaki chicken was burned badly and made the whole box very nasty looking. I did the survey on their receipts several times for the last 2 years about the problem but they never improved. Charcoal food will cause cancer!! Once you guys improve the quality of teriyaki chicken, I will take down this review.

Where else can you get close to junk fast food prices and still have a bunch of fresh green veg and clean protein on your plate? I'm really grateful to have Panda as an option in a healthy food desert. Even offer the greens as a side instead of rice or noodles. I eat here at least once a week and I can feed my family of 4 with healthy, freshly cooked food for about the same as McDonald's. And McDs doesn't even offer a damn salad. I can't understand the bad reviews. It's a top value in the area and the food is always fresh and delicious.

Don't know about all the negative reviews, this place is clean and well stocked. And all the staff were quick and friendly. On top of that, the food was tasty and hot. I got fried rice, orange chicken, broccoli beef, and an eggroll. If i lived closer, I'd decibel cube again.

Ive never had a bad experience or bad food here. It’s consistently food court mall Chinese. Crave it, eat it, regret it.
