About Panda Express
Panda Express, situated within the Paradise Palms Cafe at 2560 McCarthy Mall, Honolulu, HI 96822, USA, is a conveniently located Chinese restaurant that serves the University of Hawaii community and surrounding areas. As a well-known fast-casual chain, it offers a quick and accessible option for American Chinese cuisine. For direct contact, the restaurant can be reached at (808) 956-7229 or via mobile at +1 808-956-7229.
The Panda Express at Paradise Palms Cafe operates within a larger food court or campus dining setting, which inherently contributes to a bustling and often "very crowded" environment. This is typical for a popular eatery in a university setting, especially during peak meal times. The atmosphere is likely energetic and fast-paced, designed to handle a high volume of customers efficiently. While there might not be the quiet ambiance of a sit-down restaurant, the focus is on providing a quick and convenient meal. The setting within Paradise Palms Cafe suggests a communal dining area, where students, faculty, and staff can gather. The convenience and proximity to campus activities make it a frequently visited spot for those seeking a quick bite between classes or during breaks.
As a standard Panda Express outlet, this location provides its characteristic fast-casual service model. Customers typically proceed along a serving line, selecting their preferred entrees and sides from a hot bar. This allows for immediate customization and quick service, catering to the needs of a busy campus crowd. The menu features a range of popular American Chinese dishes that have become synonymous with the Panda Express brand. These include their most famous "Orange Chicken," along with other staples like chow mein, fried rice, and various beef, chicken, and vegetable dishes. The convenience of this service model makes it an ideal choice for those with limited time. While specific details on additional services like delivery are not provided for this particular location, generally, Panda Express offers dine-in and takeout options, and often integrates with delivery platforms, further extending its accessibility.
The cuisine at this Panda Express location, like others in the chain, is focused on delivering a consistent interpretation of American Chinese flavors. The portion sizes are noted as "huge," offering good value for the price, which is a significant feature, especially for a student-centric demographic. For instance, a meal consisting of food and water was noted to be around $11, which is considered reasonable. While the "taste is okay" for some dishes, one reviewer had a particularly negative experience with the "orange chicken" tasting "more like chemicals than usual," speculating it might have been contaminated with degreaser. This specific feedback indicates that while overall consistency is a brand goal, individual experiences with food quality can vary. However, the core appeal of Panda Express lies in its recognizable and widely enjoyed flavors, designed to be broadly palatable. The menu features a mix of savory, sweet, and sometimes spicy options, providing enough variety to satisfy different cravings within the American Chinese genre.
The primary promotional draw for this Panda Express is its convenient location within Paradise Palms Cafe, making it easily accessible to the University of Hawaii community. Its "reasonable for huge portion food" pricing also acts as a significant promotional point, appealing to budget-conscious students and staff. While the overall taste is considered "okay" by some, the combination of affordability and generous portions contributes to its popularity despite occasional quality concerns. The fact that it is "usually very crowded" itself suggests a high level of demand and consistent patronage, which can act as a form of social proof for new customers. Although one customer had a negative food quality experience, the overarching benefit of convenience and value often outweighs isolated incidents for many regulars. For local users, especially those within the University of Hawaii system, this Panda Express is a go-to for a quick, substantial, and affordable American Chinese meal, making it a reliable and frequently chosen option for campus dining.

The taste is okay and price is reasonable for huge portion food. Paid around 11$ for food and water
This Panda Express is usually very crowded, and I have received orange chicken that tastes more like chemicals than usual, my guess would be degreaser got on the chicken that day. It's convenient and close, but there are better food options in Paradise Palms
I had food poisoning after eating their food two weeks ago. Two hours after I ate their food, my stomach was upset, and it had started cramping and lasted for four days. Also, it gave a fever. It was such a terrible experience. They appear to keep selling the leftover food until sold (usually until Friday). Unfortunately, I went there Friday. Be careful unless you want to take chances to get sick.
I really like the Chow fun they make, but sometimes I get the noodles instead. I come for the Kung Pao Chicken because it's honestly the best one I've tasted.
