About Panda Express

Panda Express, a well-known chain of Chinese restaurants, has a location situated at 1271 Marina Blvd, San Leandro, CA 94577, USA. This particular branch can be contacted at (510) 667-9585 or +1 510-667-9585. Based on recent customer reviews, the experiences at this San Leandro Panda Express appear to be somewhat mixed, with positive feedback on food and staff countered by significant concerns regarding food quality of specific items and alleged discriminatory behavior.

One customer reported an overall positive experience, stating that "Everything was all good," with a notable exception. This exception was the honey walnut shrimp, which they described as having a "real bitter taste" that was "somewhat nasty." This suggests a potential inconsistency in the preparation or quality of this particular dish at the time of their visit. Additionally, this same customer raised a serious concern regarding the cashier's behavior. They alleged that the cashier began counting their drawer instead of ringing up their food, and the customer speculated that this was due to their being African-American. This behavior was perceived as discriminatory and reportedly detracted from what was otherwise a potentially happy day for the customer. Furthermore, this reviewer explicitly stated that "This location needs to take a course on discrimination and culture diffusion," indicating a belief that the alleged behavior reflects a broader issue within this specific Panda Express branch.

In contrast to this experience, another customer provided a brief but positive review, stating "Great food and Aonia was great." This feedback highlights the positive aspects of the food quality and specifically commends a staff member named Aonia, suggesting excellent customer service from at least one individual at this location. This review offers a more favorable perspective on the overall experience.

Considering these two recent reviews, it is evident that customer experiences at the Panda Express in San Leandro can vary significantly. While one customer enjoyed the food and received great service from a specific staff member, another encountered a serious issue with the quality of a signature dish and alleged discriminatory behavior from a cashier.

The provided reviews offer limited insight into the environment or ambiance of this Panda Express location. As a fast-casual chain restaurant, Panda Express typically features a brightly lit, counter-service setup with a focus on efficiency and quick service. However, these general characteristics are not explicitly confirmed by the available feedback for this specific San Leandro branch.

The services offered at Panda Express generally include counter service for immediate orders, takeout options, and potentially online ordering and delivery through third-party services, although these are not specifically mentioned in the provided reviews for this location. The quick service implied by the cashier's alleged behavior (albeit in a negative context) aligns with the typical fast-casual model.

Panda Express is known for its American Chinese cuisine, featuring a variety of dishes such as orange chicken, kung pao chicken, Beijing beef, and the honey walnut shrimp mentioned in one of the reviews. Fried rice, chow mein, and various vegetable and appetizer options are also typically available. The "great food" mentioned by one reviewer suggests that many of these standard menu items are prepared to a satisfactory level at this San Leandro location. However, the negative experience with the honey walnut shrimp indicates that consistency across all dishes may be an area for potential concern.

There is no promotional information included in the provided customer reviews. The feedback focuses solely on past dining experiences and interactions with staff.

For local users in San Leandro considering Panda Express at 1271 Marina Blvd, the recent feedback presents a mixed picture. While some customers may experience great food and friendly service, as highlighted by the positive review mentioning Aonia, there is also a concerning report of poor quality in a specific dish (honey walnut shrimp) and a serious allegation of discriminatory behavior from a staff member. Potential customers may want to consider these contrasting experiences when making their decision.

The allegation of discrimination is a significant issue that warrants serious attention. If accurate, such behavior is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the establishment. While a single instance does not necessarily represent the entire staff or management's attitude, it is a point of concern that potential customers may find relevant to their decision-making process.

On the other hand, the positive feedback regarding "great food" and excellent service from at least one staff member suggests that positive experiences are also possible at this location. Ultimately, local users will need to weigh these contrasting reports. If concerns about potential inconsistencies in food quality or the possibility of negative interactions with staff are significant, they may want to consider other dining options in the area. Conversely, those who prioritize the convenience and general menu offerings of Panda Express may still choose to visit, hoping for a positive experience similar to the one described in the more favorable review.

Everything was all good, except the fact, the honey walnut shrimp had a real bitter taste somewhat nasty, and the cashier began to count his drawer rather than ring up my food I assume because I was African-American, which delayed my momentum of a happy day. In addition, This location needs to take a course on discrimination and culture diffusion.

Worst service I’ve had at a Panda Express. Portions are disgustingly small as well. Dining area looks like it hasn’t been cleaned for days. CRIMINAL FRANCHISE BEHAVIOR

I ordered online. A space to write down your special request, so i did. At their website, theres no chow mein so i put it as special request. When i picked it up, so glad to see that they have it on display. But unfortunately i was not able to check my order before i left, so i just found out that it's only brown rice, no chowmein. Plus, im so disappointed how they cooked the brown rice. It's a porridge!
