However, recent online reviews paint a concerning picture of the customer experience at this particular Panda Express location in National City. One reviewer expressed extreme disgust and shared a horrifying experience of finding a worm inside their food after taking only a few bites. This customer was understandably shocked and appalled by this discovery, highlighting serious concerns about the hygiene standards and food safety procedures at this establishment. The presence of a worm in the meal is not only unsanitary but also raises significant questions about the kitchen staff's attentiveness and the effectiveness of quality control measures. The reviewer's account emphasizes the immediate visibility of the worm, making its presence even more alarming. This experience led to a complete loss of appetite and trust in the restaurant, prompting the customer to request a full refund and demand immediate action to improve food safety protocols. The reviewer explicitly stated their intention not to return due to this unacceptable and unsafe experience.
Another customer reported a negative experience specifically related to their order fulfillment and service. This individual placed a pickup order and, despite being told it was ready, was made to wait for approximately 25 minutes upon arrival. When their order finally came, they were informed that it was incomplete and needed to be prepared again. This was particularly frustrating for the customer, who mentioned having driven for four hours prior to arriving. Even after the delay, the customer reported that their order was still not entirely correct, with missing sauces and forks. While this reviewer acknowledged that Panda Express locations can get busy, they explicitly stated that their feedback was not about the food itself (as they generally like Panda Express) but rather about the poor service experienced at this particular location. They concluded by recommending that those seeking good service should consider visiting a different Panda Express branch.
Based on these recent reviews, the environment and services at the Panda Express in National City appear to be areas of significant concern. The report of finding a worm in the food directly points to potential issues with hygiene and food handling practices within the kitchen. This is a severe food safety violation that could have serious health implications for customers. The second review highlights inefficiencies and a lack of attention to detail in the order fulfillment process, leading to long wait times and incomplete orders for customers. The rudeness of staff was not explicitly mentioned in these reviews, but the overall experiences described suggest a lack of adequate service and customer care.
Regarding features, Panda Express, as a chain, typically offers a variety of American-Chinese dishes, often served in a cafeteria-style setting where customers can choose their entrees, sides, and appetizers. The menu usually includes popular items such as Orange Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Chow Mein, and fried rice. The availability of pickup and delivery services through platforms like DoorDash is also a standard feature of many Panda Express locations. However, the negative reviews for this specific National City branch raise concerns about the quality and accuracy of these services. The report of a missing order for a pickup customer and the discovery of a foreign object in a dine-in meal indicate potential failures in both food preparation and order management.
Currently, the provided reviews do not mention any specific promotional offers or discounts being offered at this Panda Express location. The focus of the feedback is overwhelmingly negative, addressing critical issues related to food safety and service quality. In such circumstances, any potential promotions would likely be overshadowed by the more pressing concerns raised by these customer experiences.
In conclusion, recent customer reviews for the Panda Express located at 1115 Highland Ave in National City, CA, raise significant red flags. The report of finding a worm in the food is a serious food safety concern that should not be taken lightly. Additionally, the issues with order fulfillment, including long wait times and incomplete orders, indicate potential problems with the operational efficiency and customer service at this location. While Panda Express is generally a well-known and established brand, these specific experiences suggest that potential customers of this National City branch should be aware of these recent negative reports. It would be prudent for the management of this location to address these serious concerns immediately to ensure the safety and satisfaction of their customers.

Absolutely Disgusted – Found a Worm in My Food! I’m beyond appalled by my experience at Nation City South Bay Plaza Panda Express After taking just a few bites of my meal, I discovered a worm inside the food on my plate. I was shocked and horrified. This is not only unsanitary but also completely unacceptable in any food establishment. I tried to remain calm, but after seeing something like that, it’s hard to ignore how utterly careless this is. I can’t imagine how something like that could have slipped past kitchen staff or quality control, especially given that it was noticeable immediately. To find something so vile in my meal has completely ruined my appetite and trust in this place. I am deeply concerned about the hygiene standards here and am seriously questioning how this was allowed to happen. I don’t want anyone else to experience what I did – it’s both disgusting and unsafe. I am requesting a full refund and for the restaurant to take immediate action to improve their food safety procedures. This was a completely unacceptable experience, and I will not be returning
I make an orden for pickup and when they tell me was ready, when i was there they make me wait like 25 min and when they finally come whit me they said " The order is missing, we need to do it rigth now, bro i been driving 4 hours" and after that they didn't put the full order on both plates, they forgot the sauces, forks... come on! I know there's some time they got a lot people on line, but I'm not here to evaluate the food, because I like Panda Express, but I'm telling you if you want a good service... I recommend you another location.
I usually go to this location when I'm on my lunch break. The service is fast and friendly, but I've been having an issue lately with the chicken. I always get the Kung Pao, and the last 2 or 3 times that I've gone, I end up throwing all of the chicken out of the bowl and just eating the veggies and rice. It could just be me and my personal taste in how I like my meat cooked, but the chicken never looks or tastes cooked to me. I tried eating a piece today and ended up having to spit it out. I'm sure that they're cooking the meat to the proper temperature, but it's chewy, and I just can't do it. I would love it if they would offer a spicy, mixed veggies option as an entree. But for now, I'll still get the Kung Pao and just take out the chicken...
Morning 5 people were waiting outside at 9am and store door was close. It seems hours were change but in the door the hours are different. Friday August 23, 2024, it seems they will be opening at 10am instead of 9am. It is upsetting that at the door they have different times than the one they provide as in the pictures. Although they will close early this specific friday around 6:30pm, they also should let people know in a written notice about morning hours been change as well until further notice of new permanent hours. Workers and people passing by due waste their time guessing if they are open or no. No one even come out and tell people or explain it. Not a good sign of communication to customers passing by and waiting outside the door.
I am absolutely never eating here again. We ordered delivery and they didn't include the two drinks we ordered, and it is on the receipt. The picture shown is a double order of broccoli beef because it's always been my favorite. The meat is grey and tastes off, almost bad, the broccoli is yellowing and tastes off too. The chow mein is unseasoned and tastes like I tried to eat raw spaghetti noodles that look nice. I'm literally so off-put by all this I'm throwing it in the trash after 3 bites. One for the meat, one for the broccoli and one for the noodles. I rarely get Panda Express, but with this experience, I see no reason to ever have it again.
