About Panda Express

Panda Express, a well-known chain of Chinese restaurants, has a location at 5020 El Cerrito Plaza e-2, El Cerrito, CA 94530, USA. This branch can be contacted at (510) 526-9989 or +1 510-526-9989. Based on recent customer reviews, there appear to be significant concerns regarding the quality of the food and potentially the service at this particular El Cerrito location.

One customer expressed considerable disappointment with the recent food quality at this Panda Express. They specifically noted a decline in the chow mein, describing it as "undercooked, dry, chewy, and completely lacking flavor." This indicates a significant issue with a staple menu item. Furthermore, they reported that the Kung Pao Chicken was "overly salty" and the Orange Chicken seemed "undercooked," raising concerns about the proper preparation and taste of other popular dishes. This reviewer expressed a sentiment that the "authenticity and care in preparation just aren’t there anymore" and voiced a hope for the return of skilled cooks to improve the food quality and bring back "real Chinese flavor" to the menu.

Another recent review corroborated a decline in the performance of this El Cerrito Panda Express, stating that the location has "gone downhill in the past 6 months." This customer shared a concerning experience from an early morning visit at 10:15 am. They reported that the "healthy entrees" were empty, which is particularly problematic so soon after the presumed opening time. Adding to this negative impression, they observed employees "all sitting down eating in the lobby." The reviewer questioned how the restaurant could be out of food so early in the day after just opening, suggesting potential issues with food preparation planning and readiness for customers.

Collectively, these two recent reviews paint a concerning picture of the current state of the Panda Express in El Cerrito. Both customers highlight a decline in quality, with specific issues raised about the preparation and taste of key menu items like chow mein, Kung Pao Chicken, and Orange Chicken. Additionally, the second review points to potential service and operational issues, with healthy food options being unavailable early in the day and employees seemingly prioritizing their break over ensuring the availability of food for customers.

The provided reviews offer no specific details about the environment or ambiance of this Panda Express location. As a standard fast-casual chain restaurant, it likely features a functional, brightly lit space with a counter for ordering and a designated seating area. However, without specific feedback related to this particular branch, a detailed description of the environment cannot be provided.

The services offered at Panda Express typically include counter service for ordering, with options for immediate consumption or takeout. Online ordering and delivery through third-party services are also commonly available for Panda Express locations, although these are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews for this specific El Cerrito branch. The second reviewer's experience suggests that the readiness of service, particularly in terms of food availability, may be an area of concern at this location.

Panda Express is known for its American Chinese cuisine, featuring a range of popular dishes. The reviews mention chow mein, Kung Pao Chicken, and Orange Chicken, which are standard offerings. The negative feedback on these core items suggests a potential decline in the quality or consistency of their key menu features at this El Cerrito location. The absence of positive comments on specific dishes in these recent reviews further underscores the current issues being reported.

There is no promotional information included in the provided customer reviews. The feedback focuses solely on negative experiences related to food quality and service.

For local users in El Cerrito considering Panda Express at 5020 El Cerrito Plaza e-2, the recent customer reviews raise significant concerns. Both reviews highlight a decline in food quality, with specific issues noted in the chow mein, Kung Pao Chicken, and Orange Chicken. Additionally, one review points to potential service and operational problems, including the unavailability of healthy entrees early in the morning and employees taking breaks while food service appears to be lacking. These issues suggest that the current experience at this Panda Express location may not meet the expectations of regular customers or those seeking a reliable fast-casual Chinese meal.

Given the consistency of the negative feedback regarding food quality and the concerning report about early morning service, local users might want to exercise caution when considering this Panda Express location. It may be prudent to check for more recent reviews or consider alternative Chinese dining options in the El Cerrito area to ensure a satisfactory meal and service experience. The reported decline in quality over the past six months, coupled with specific examples of poorly prepared food and potential service issues, warrants careful consideration by potential customers.

If you are in El Cerrito and typically rely on Panda Express for a quick Chinese meal, these recent reviews suggest that the quality at this particular location may have deteriorated. You might want to consider visiting during peak hours to see if food availability and quality improve, or perhaps explore other Chinese restaurants in the vicinity that have received more positive recent feedback. Contacting the store directly at (510) 526-9989 or +1 510-526-9989 to inquire about their current food preparation standards and service protocols might also be a step worth taking before placing an order or visiting.

I’m really disappointed with the quality of the food at Panda Express lately. The chow mein, in particular, has gone downhill, it's undercooked, dry, chewy, and completely lacking flavor. The Kung Pao Chicken was overly salty, and the Orange Chicken seemed undercooked. It feels like the authenticity and care in preparation just aren’t there anymore. I truly hope they consider bringing back skilled cooks who can bring real Chinese flavor back to the menu.

This location has gone downhill in the past 6 months. I brought my son in at 10:15am and the healthy entrees are empty and employees are all sitting down eating in the lobby. What the heck, how can you be out of food so early after just opening.

I came in after getting off of work around an hour before closing and the employees there were great and greeted me when they saw me come in. I had the Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, and Black Pepper Angus Steak. Everything was good and service was super fast. Props to the employees here.

Had to wait for the honey walnut shrimp, but I didn’t mind. I’m paying for it so waiting it’s never going to be an issue. The service was great, that’s why I come all the way out here to the one in Richmond, then I go back home to Berkeley. Yikes!!! #shady🐼❤️ Panda hacks: bring your own water bottle, metal if you wanna keep your agua cool,) also I was given extra sauce yay Oh and I gotta plastic bag that I will reuse at home. Love today man. Thank you God for being alive. And I can afford to buy myself a meal. Children of the world with common sense, please save up money. Next review I will test a theory: is this locations food and customer service consistent? We will test next review.
