About Panda Express

Panda Express, a well-established chain of Chinese Restaurants offering American Chinese cuisine in a fast-casual setting, has a location at 9211 Clairemont Mesa Blvd #105, San Diego, CA 92123, USA. This particular branch can be contacted at (858) 268-7778 or +1 858-268-7778. Panda Express is known for its quick service and a menu featuring popular dishes like Orange Chicken and various bowl and plate combinations. However, customer experiences at this Clairemont Mesa Blvd location appear to be somewhat varied, as indicated by recent reviews.

One customer shared a detailed experience regarding their order of the Black Pepper Angus Beef bowl with Lo Mein. They noted being charged an extra $1.25 for the Black Pepper Angus Beef, despite no mention of this additional cost on the menu or notification from the employee at the time of ordering. Furthermore, this reviewer found the bowl to contain "very little beef" and described the overall dish as "very oily," with the predominant taste being "oil and black pepper." Consequently, they did not recommend this particular selection, deeming it not worth the price. This customer also expressed a preference for nearby "mom & pop Chinese restaurants" that they felt offered better quality food with fairer portions and prices.

In a subsequent update, the same reviewer recounted ordering two Beijing Beef bowls, one with Fried Rice and the other with Lo Mein noodles. Their experience with this dish was also negative, describing the beef as "oily and so heavily breaded to the point you could only taste the sauce." While they found the fried rice to be "ok," the Lo Mein noodles were also noted as being "oily." Based on these experiences, this customer explicitly stated they would not order Beijing Beef again. This feedback suggests potential consistency issues or a preparation style for certain dishes that may not appeal to all palates.

However, in a more recent update, the same customer reported a positive experience with the "new Hot Orange chicken bowls," trying one over Lo Mein and the other over Fried Rice, and found both to be "good." This indicates that the quality and taste may vary significantly between different menu items at this location, and that new offerings might be well-received.

In contrast to the negative experiences with specific beef dishes, another local customer had a highly positive view of this Panda Express location, stating, "The best panda express location! They are quick and the food is always fresh and tasty." This starkly different opinion suggests that the overall quality and service might be perceived differently by various individuals or that there could be inconsistencies in food preparation depending on the dish or time of visit.

Adding another perspective, a third reviewer commented on the portion control typically found at Panda Express locations, mentioning that "the portions they give will always be tracked (shrimp count, etc.)." However, they went on to say that "as far as the quality goes, the food is the best quality compared to other Panda locations in San Diego." This suggests that while portion sizes might be standardized across the chain, this particular location might excel in the freshness and taste of its ingredients compared to other Panda Express restaurants in the area.

Based on these mixed reviews, the Panda Express at 9211 Clairemont Mesa Blvd #105 in San Diego appears to offer potentially quick service and, for some, food that is considered fresh and tasty, even ranking as the best among San Diego locations according to one reviewer. However, there are also reports of unexpected extra charges for certain menu items, issues with excessive oiliness in some dishes like the Black Pepper Angus Beef and Beijing Beef, and a lack of substantial meat portions in at least one instance. On a more positive note, a new menu item, the Hot Orange chicken bowls, received favorable feedback.

Regarding the environment and ambiance, the provided reviews do not offer specific details about the interior decor or cleanliness of this particular location. However, as a standard chain restaurant, customers might expect a familiar and functional setting typical of Panda Express establishments.

Information about specific services beyond the counter ordering and food preparation is also limited. Panda Express typically offers takeout services, and depending on the location, there might be limited seating for dining in. It is reasonable to assume that this location provides standard Panda Express services, but specific details would need to be confirmed directly with the restaurant.

Similarly, the provided reviews do not contain any information about ongoing promotional offers or discounts at this specific Panda Express location. Panda Express as a chain frequently offers various promotions, which can be found on their official website, through their mobile app, or via in-store flyers. Local users interested in potential deals at the Clairemont Mesa Blvd branch should check these resources or inquire directly with the restaurant at (858) 268-7778 or +1 858-268-7778.

In conclusion, the Panda Express at 9211 Clairemont Mesa Blvd #105 in San Diego presents a somewhat mixed picture based on recent customer reviews. While some patrons find the food fresh and the service quick, with one even considering it the best Panda Express in San Diego, others have reported issues with oily food, limited meat portions, unexpected extra charges, and negative experiences with specific dishes like the Black Pepper Angus Beef and Beijing Beef. The positive feedback on the new Hot Orange chicken suggests that menu preferences and experiences can vary. Local users might want to consider these varying opinions and potentially try some of the more positively reviewed items while being mindful of potential inconsistencies or extra charges. Checking for current promotions through official Panda Express channels is also recommended.

I ordered the Black Pepper Angus Beef bowl with lomein. Although there was no mention of an extra charge on the menu, or notification from the serving employee that there would be an extra charge for the Black Pepper Angus Beef selection, I was charged an extra $1.25. There was very little beef in the bowl and everything was very oily. All I could taste was oil and black pepper. I would not recommend this selection. Definitely not worth the price. Luckily there are nearby mom & pop Chinese restaurants that serve quality food with fair portions and prices. Update: Got 2 Beijing Beef bowls, one with Fried Rice and one with Lo Mein noodles. The beef was oily and so heavily breaded to the point you could only taste the sauce. The fried rice was ok, but the Lo Mein noodles were oily. I would not order Beijing Beef again. Update: Got the new Hot Orange chicken bowls, one over Lo Mein and the other over Fried Rice. Both were good.

The best panda express location! They are quick and the food is always fresh and tasty. Of course the portions they give will always be tracked (shrimp count, etc.) But as far as the quality goes, the food is the best quality compared to other Panda locations in San Diego.

Some Panda Expresses are hit or miss, but this one is really great. Love me the honey walnut shrimp and orange chicken. Great for a quick pick up that’s guaranteed to fill your appetite!

My worst experience at a Panda Express was at the Grossmont shopping center. I went there at about 11:30am with my friend. We were helped by a Sidney whom was unfriendly and seemed she didn't want to serve us. I noticed she gave very small amounts of everything to me, compared to the amounts of other customers. I had a bad feeling that I wasn't treated fairly at all.

I love Panda Express but this experience has me questioning to him back. I order the bigger plate, that comes with 1 side and 3 entrées. The picture shown is two of the 3 and it’s barely anything! My 3 entree was put in a a small red box with the same amount. I called the store back and the employee told me that I got the severing size. She then said if I come back she could give me a little more but that’s it. I then asked to speak with the manager, guess what she was the manager. I asked if she could take my name down for the next time I came in, she said no. I asked would I get a new plate and or entree. No was the answer again. Honestly, no help!
