About Panda Express

Panda Express, situated at 1642 Beltline Rd SW in Decatur, AL 35601, USA, is part of a well-known chain of Chinese fast-food restaurants. While recognized for its quick service and familiar menu of American Chinese cuisine, recent customer reviews of this specific location offer a glimpse into the varying experiences of local users, highlighting both positive feedback on certain dishes and significant concerns regarding service and food handling.

One customer shared a particularly positive experience, focusing on the quality of specific menu items. They described the Orange Chicken as "scrumptious" and the noodles as "outstanding." This reviewer attributed the excellent taste to the chef on duty that evening, suggesting that the culinary skills of the kitchen staff can indeed lead to highly satisfying meals. A notable detail was the addition of celery to the cabbage, which the reviewer found to be a good enhancement. The noodles were also praised for being perfectly moist. However, this positive review also included a caveat, noting that the quality might be dependent on who is cooking. To address this potential inconsistency, the reviewer suggested implementing quality assurance checks, enhanced training, and a kitchen manual to ensure a more uniform standard of food preparation.

In stark contrast, another customer reported a highly negative experience during a drive-thru visit on May 10, 2024, around 4 PM. This customer ordered a double serving of honey sesame chicken and was initially told there would be a 4-minute wait, with instructions to pull up to a picnic table. After waiting for approximately 10 minutes and observing that the car behind them had received their food, the customer went inside to inquire about their order. A staff member with dark maroon/red hair, working at the cash register, handed them a bag of food and then proceeded to walk out the door with another bag. Upon checking their order inside, the customer realized it was incorrect. Subsequently, the same staff member returned with the bag she had taken to another customer, stating that "the lady said it was the wrong order," and then attempted to give this same bag to the original customer whose order was incorrect.

The customer understandably objected to receiving food that had just been given to and potentially handled by another customer. When they refused the bag, the staff member who initially took the order inquired with the maroon-haired employee if she had touched the food. The response was "no." However, the dissatisfied customer questioned how the employee would know the order was incorrect if she had not touched it, highlighting a significant lapse in food safety and hygiene protocols. Due to this "disgusting and completely unacceptable" situation, the customer had to explicitly request that their order be remade. As a result of this experience, the reviewer stated unequivocally that they would not be returning to this Panda Express location.

These two reviews paint a picture of significant variability in the customer experience at this Panda Express in Decatur. On one hand, there is the potential for highly enjoyable food when prepared well, as evidenced by the positive comments on the orange chicken and noodles. This suggests that the restaurant is capable of producing quality dishes. On the other hand, there are serious concerns regarding service, order accuracy, and, most alarmingly, food handling practices, as detailed in the negative review. The attempt to re-serve food that had been given to another customer raises significant red flags about hygiene and customer safety protocols at this specific location.

For local users considering this Panda Express on Beltline Rd SW, these contrasting experiences are crucial to take into account. If you happen to visit when the kitchen staff is performing at their best, you might enjoy some of their popular dishes. However, there is also a risk of encountering issues with order accuracy and potentially unsafe food handling practices, as reported by another customer. The inconsistency in food quality, possibly depending on the cook, is also a factor to consider.

As a fast-food chain, Panda Express typically aims for consistency across its locations. The feedback from this Decatur store suggests that there might be a need for stricter adherence to standardized procedures, particularly in food handling and order fulfillment, to ensure a more reliable and positive experience for all customers. The suggestion for quality assurance checks, training, and kitchen manuals in the positive review underscores the importance of these measures in maintaining consistency.

Given the limited information about the restaurant's environment beyond being a standard fast-food setup with a drive-thru, and no specific details about promotional offers, local users will likely base their decision on the reported food and service experiences. The potential for delicious dishes like the orange chicken and noodles might be tempting, but the serious concerns raised about food handling and order accuracy could be a significant deterrent for many.

In conclusion, the Panda Express located at 1642 Beltline Rd SW in Decatur, AL, appears to offer a variable experience for local users. While some customers have enjoyed the food, particularly the orange chicken and noodles, there are significant concerns regarding service, order accuracy, and food handling practices that have led to at least one customer vowing not to return. Potential diners should weigh the possibility of a satisfying meal against the reported risks of service and hygiene issues when considering this location.

Orange Chicken was scrumptious and the noodles were outstanding. Whoever was cheffing tonight did a great job. Adding celery to cabbage was so good! Noodles were perfect moist. I really think it depends on who's cooking. Maybe Quality assurance checks, training and a kitchen manual to follow will aid in consistency.

Came to the beltline location 5/10/24 around 4pm. Ordered the double order honey sesame chicken through drive through. The lady stated it would be a 4 minute wait and to pull up by picnic table, so I did. After about 10 minutes went inside because I noticed the car behind me had gotten food. As I walked in the lady with dark maroon/red hair behind the cash registered handed me my food, and the she walked out the door with another bag of food. I stood there and checked my food noticed the order was incorrect, and the lady who had just handed me my food walks back in with the same bag she took out to another customer and stated that “the lady said it was the wrong order” and proceeds to give me the bag. I stated that I didn’t want that food because she had just given it to another customer, the lady who originally took my order then asked the marron/lady did she touch the food. The lady the said no I said I want the order remade how would she know the order was incorrect had she not touched it. Disgusting and completely unacceptable that I had to ask for food to be remade after the situation that had just took place. Will not be back.

My wife and I stopped at the Decatur Panda Express yesterday to eat dinner. We had to both use the bathroom when we got there. Someone had peed all over the toilet seat in the men's room. While I was in the lobby waiting on my wife, I looked around to find us a table to sit at. Every table was nasty. There was only 1 other person dining in at that time, so it wasn't swamped with customers inside. There was a bucket of water with rags on it sitting next to the drink station as well. I told my wife that we were not going to eat there. If the lobby area looked like that, I can imagine what the kitchen area looked like. We immediately left.

Positives: I love the honey walnut shrimp - Justin R. was the server/cashier and he was super nice! He really wanted us to have what we wanted! but I have some negative things to add to my visit .. firstly it's already $11.30 for the large plate with three entrees but I had no idea that the honey walnut shrimp was a $1.50 up charge and I got 2 portions! They should tell you that. We wound up paying $35 for two plates and two drinks! Not just that but the fried rice did not taste like it had been fried at all. It tasted like white rice that had been tossed around with peas and carrots and that's it..... Avoid the "fried rice" at all cost! All and all the food is not that great - the service is great, just a little pricey due to all the up charges! I do like the size of their large cups though. And I would prefer to not have to ask for chopsticks and soy sauce and other sauces, I wish it was just out for us to get.

we went about 9 pm and they named of all the things they had but when I started ordering she started saying that they in fact don't have these items. Long story short, if the owner cares about the success of this establishment then they will swiftly change the current management!
