Welcome to our platform for local Chinese restaurant information. Today, we present an overview of the Panda Express located at 1151 40th St #100, Emeryville, CA 94608, USA. Panda Express is generally known for its quick service and popular dishes such as Orange Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, and a variety of chow mein and fried rice options. This Emeryville location serves the local community and those passing through the area seeking a convenient and familiar meal.
To provide an objective introduction to this specific Panda Express branch, we have examined recent customer reviews available online. These reviews offer insights into the experiences of individuals who have recently dined at or ordered from this location, highlighting aspects of food quality, service efficiency, and overall satisfaction.
One reviewer expressed a decline in the quality of a specific dish, the Kung Pao Chicken. They mentioned that this location previously served a better version of this dish but noted that it no longer has sufficient sauce, resulting in a "stinky and less tasty" chicken compared to the Teriyaki Chicken. While they rated the Teriyaki Chicken as "not that bad" (giving it 3 points), they gave the Kung Pao Chicken a zero, indicating significant dissatisfaction. This reviewer suggested that the change in quality might be due to a focus on cost savings rather than taste.
Another customer shared a considerably negative experience regarding both the service speed and food preparation. They reported arriving at approximately 8:32 PM but not receiving their food until 8:56 PM, a delay of nearly 24 minutes. Furthermore, they found the portions to be "very underportioned," suggesting a lack of adequate serving sizes. This reviewer also observed that the staff had begun cleaning the restaurant "way too early" and did not have enough food adequately prepared for remaining customers. There was also a lack of clear communication regarding the delay; the customer was initially told it would take 8 minutes, then 6 minutes, but the actual wait time was significantly longer.
By the time their order of orange chicken and sweet and sour chicken was ready, this customer found that their side dishes were already cold because they had been plated prematurely and not kept warm. When the customer attempted to address these issues, they were informed that there was no manager on duty, and the shift lead appeared indifferent to their concerns. Only after the customer mentioned writing a review did the shift lead offer a free drink as compensation, which the customer declined, expressing their desire to leave the restaurant. This detailed account paints a picture of slow service, underprepared and cold food, poor communication, and a lack of effective customer service.
Considering these two recent reviews, there appear to be potential issues concerning food quality consistency, service speed, portion sizes, and customer service at this Panda Express location in Emeryville. The decline in the Kung Pao Chicken's quality, as perceived by one reviewer, and the significant delays, underportioned and cold food, and unhelpful staff response reported by another, are notable points of concern for potential customers.
As a fast-food chain, Panda Express typically aims for efficiency and consistency across its locations. However, these reviews suggest that this particular branch may be falling short in some key areas. The comment about cost savings potentially impacting food quality is also a factor that might affect the overall dining experience.
The provided information does not include details about the restaurant's environment or ambiance. Panda Express locations generally feature a casual and brightly lit setting designed for quick turnover. Customers typically order at a counter and receive their food to eat in a designated seating area or take away. However, the specific atmosphere of this Emeryville location is not described in the given reviews.
Similarly, there is no information regarding specific services offered at this branch, such as online ordering, delivery options through third-party services, or any unique features that might distinguish it from other Panda Express locations. Furthermore, the provided text does not mention any ongoing promotional offers or special menu items available at this Emeryville restaurant.
In conclusion, based on the recent customer feedback, the Panda Express at 1151 40th St in Emeryville appears to have areas that may require attention. Customers have reported a decline in the quality of certain dishes, significant service delays, issues with portion sizes and food temperature, and unsatisfactory customer service experiences. While Panda Express is a well-known brand, these reviews suggest that the experience at this particular location may not consistently meet expectations. Potential customers might want to take these recent experiences into consideration when deciding to dine at or order from this Emeryville branch. For more information on their services, menu, and any potential promotions, contacting the restaurant directly may be advisable.

This location used served the best kung pao chicken... no, anymore, the lack of sauce makes this chicken stinky and less tasty than the teriyaki chicken, I'll give it 3 points because the teriyaki is not that bad 0 points for the kung pao chicken. Looks like it is all about savings, not about taste anymore.
So I got there about 832 and did not get my food until 8:56 which was very underportioned they had started cleaning way too early and did not have enough food prepared. No communication first I was told 8 minutes and then 6 but it took wayyyyy longer by the time my orange chicken and sweet and sour chicken was ready my sides were cold due to them plating it was too early and not keeping it warm. I was told there was no manager and the shift lead really did not care then when I told her I'ma do a review she tried to offer a free drink like no thanks lady I want to leave! NOW!
order came an hour later, order was "completed" yet took another half an hour before my delivery driver actually started driving to my location, food is literally cold, drink has water all over it from being left out so long, i dont even understand how this is possible, and if that wasnt bad enough they gave small portions, why mark the order as complete early if you arent going to complete it within the next 3 minutes? why take an extra 30 minutes not even at least leaving my food on a heater to keep it warm? this isnt what i paid for at all
Only thing I say about this place is based on your race, will sometimes determine the portion of food they give you, I've been to two of these places, here and San Leandro and seen someone get more food that's either Spanish or just not black. Dude before spoke Spanish and they filled his place with some much chicken & Rice. Maybe he's a regular but again, I've been to two of these panda Express...and I've came to this location more than 10 times over 5 years..they need more diversity in staff at more of these locations of blacks..I'll just point out how it makes me feel as a customer, it's just more worth it to eat someone where you can see the equal give, I won't bother eating at panda Express business anymore.
We visited this restaurant to get some food for a quick dinner. My husband was always against getting Panda Express and I had never had it so I had to try it. We ended up getting two plate meals so each had 1 side and 2 entree’s. We ordered Chow Mein, Orange Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, and Honey Walnut Shrimp. Firstly, the Chow Mein is dry and lacking flavor. The beef for the beef and broccoli was tender, however the sauce on it lacked any sort of flavor. The beef and broccoli was a weird experience because I’ve never had such saucy tender beef that was so lacking in flavor. The broccoli had flavor but not a great flavor. The orange chicken had a very mild spice, however it does not taste like oranges if thats what you are expecting in the dish. It also is not very crisp, it was like sauce had set on it for awhile and absorbed into the bread coating on the chicken making it no longer crisp. The honey walnut shrimp was probably our favorite of what we ordered. It had a nice crispness to it with a sweet glaze that tasted more of coconut in flavor than walnut or honey. There were a few pieces of walnut also found amongst the shrimp. If we ever are desperate enough to go again, this would be the only thing we order. For a side to go along with the two plate meals we got we ordered a chicken egg roll to try. This egg roll was a major disappointment. I have high expectations in egg rolls coming from an Asian family and had lowered them knowing this is a fast food chain and wanted a quick egg roll fix; it still did not meet expectations at all. The outside wrapper was a little bit doughy, almost like it were cooked from frozen. The inside was lacking in seasoning. It had some cabbage, carrot, rice noodles, lettuce, and a tiny amount of ground chicken. Chewing through the whole thing left a displeasing taste on the palate, not like old grease, but displeasing. I’m not sure how often food is made fresh, but while we were there employees were checking the temperature of all entrees. If you choose to go here, be careful of the 5 star reviews because there was a sign to leave a 5 star review and get a free entree.
