About Panda Express
Welcome to Panda Express, located at 58493 29 Palms Hwy, Yucca Valley, CA 92284, USA. As a well-known chain of Chinese restaurants, Panda Express aims to provide a convenient and familiar option for those seeking American-Chinese fast food. This particular location in Yucca Valley offers a range of popular dishes for both dine-in and takeout customers.
Panda Express is recognized for its quick-service model, where customers can select their entrees and sides from a visible display, allowing for efficient ordering and service. The menu typically features signature dishes such as their famous Orange Chicken, along with other common favorites like Chow Mein, Kung Pao Chicken, and a selection of rice and vegetable options. This standardized menu ensures that customers can generally expect a consistent selection of familiar flavors across different Panda Express locations.
Customer reviews for the Panda Express on 29 Palms Hwy in Yucca Valley present some concerns regarding both food quality and service. One customer shared a detailed experience after a long drive, where they ordered teriyaki chicken, steak and shrimp, and a half-and-half side of chow mein and super greens. Upon ordering the super greens, they were informed by a manager (or someone assumed to be the manager) that there would be a short wait as they needed to be prepared. However, this customer then witnessed the grill employees reacting negatively to the manager's request for super greens, expressing audible complaints.
Further complicating this order, the cashier later stated that the super greens had already been added to the plate, which contradicted the manager's statement about them needing to be cooked. Upon arriving home, the customer found their "super greens" side to consist of only three small pieces of broccoli and a single piece of cabbage. This was particularly disappointing as the customer was a frequent visitor who usually ordered chow mein and super greens and was familiar with the typical portion sizes. They felt the amount received was unreasonably small for a paid vegetable side, and to make matters worse, the broccoli was reportedly undercooked.
This customer concluded their review by stating their intention to take a break from this Panda Express location, suggesting that a nearby alternative, China Star, offered better value with more food, no negative attitude, and potentially fresher preparation, even if it required a longer wait. This paints a picture of potential inconsistencies in food preparation, portion control, and staff attitude at this Yucca Valley location.
Another customer shared a brief but strongly negative experience, stating they "made the mistake of visiting this Panda Express." This reviewer claimed to have ordered one item but was given another, strongly recommending that others avoid the drive-thru due to the likelihood of order errors. They also described the food quality as "laughable" and the comprehension skills of the employees as a "joke," advising others to instead visit the Taco Bell located in the same plaza. This review further underscores significant concerns about order accuracy and overall food quality at this particular Panda Express.
The environment of a typical Panda Express restaurant is designed for efficiency and convenience, with a brightly lit and functional space featuring a serving counter and seating area. While specific details about the ambiance of the Yucca Valley location are not provided in the reviews, it is likely to adhere to the standard Panda Express layout. However, the reported issues with staff attitude and order accuracy could negatively impact the overall atmosphere and customer experience.
The services offered at this Panda Express include both dine-in and drive-thru options, as indicated by one of the negative reviews. Customers can also likely place orders online or through the Panda Express mobile app for convenient pickup or delivery via third-party services. The core service model is centered around providing quick and accessible American-Chinese fast food.
A key feature of Panda Express is its standardized menu, which includes a range of entrees, sides, and appetizers, with signature dishes like Orange Chicken being consistently offered across locations. However, the customer reviews for the Yucca Valley location raise concerns about the consistent execution of food preparation, particularly regarding the cooking of vegetables and the accuracy of order fulfillment. These inconsistencies can detract from the expected Panda Express experience.
Promotional activities for Panda Express are often managed at a corporate level and may not be specific to the Yucca Valley - 29 Palms Hwy location. These promotions can include limited-time offers on certain menu items, special combo deals, or discounts associated with specific events or holidays. To find out about any current promotions at this specific Panda Express location, customers are advised to check the official Panda Express website or contact the restaurant directly at (760) 365-7181 or +1 760-365-7181. In-store signage may also provide details on local or national offers. Given the issues raised in the reviews, potential customers might prioritize verifying the quality and accuracy of their orders.
In conclusion, the Panda Express at 58493 29 Palms Hwy in Yucca Valley, CA, has received concerning feedback regarding food quality, portion sizes, staff attitude, and order accuracy, particularly in the drive-thru. While Panda Express is generally known for its consistent menu, the execution at this location appears to be inconsistent based on recent customer experiences. Potential customers should be aware of these reported issues and may want to consider alternative dining options in the area. For the most accurate information on the menu and any current promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended, but given the recent feedback, it might be prudent to carefully check orders before leaving the premises.

After a four hour long drive, I decided to stop at Panda Express with my mom to grab something to eat. I ordered teriyaki chicken, steak and shrimp, and a half-and-half side of chow mein and super greens. When I asked for the super greens, I noticed there weren’t any in the tray. The manager (or who I assume is the manager, since he’s always in a different shirt and usually directing the team whenever I visit) told me there would be a bit of a wait, but they’d be ready soon. I told him that was fine. He then called over to two employees on the grill and let them know he needed super greens. That’s when things got a little odd—they immediately started complaining and saying something back to him (I couldn’t make out what). Naturally, I was watching because I was confused. You're on the grill, you’re supposed to be cooking sides and entrees, and a customer requested something you offer—so why the attitude? It honestly didn’t make sense. Anyway, my mom paid for the food, and we reminded the cashier that our order included super greens. She told us, “Oh, they already put them in your plate.” That was surprising, because the manager had just said they needed to be cooked. When I got home and opened my plate, I found only three small pieces of broccoli and a single piece of cabbage. It was disappointing, especially because I come here enough and almost always get chow mein and super greens so I know the portions. I don’t expect a huge portion, but at least a reasonable amount—especially when I’m paying for a side that’s meant to be vegetables. To make things worse, the broccoli I did get was barely even cooked. Honestly, I think I’ll be taking a break from this location for a while. I could’ve gone to China Star down the street, gotten more food, no attitude, and spent less money—even if they had to cook it fresh.
Made the mistake of visiting this Panda Express. I ordered one thing and was sent home with another. I highly recommend skipping the drive thru because they will mess everything up. Food quality was laughable and the comprehension skills of the employees was a joke. Just go to Taco Bell it’s in the same plaza.
Ordered online for pickup. Ordered the Beyond Orange Chicken and was told when we got there that they were out and the manager "wouldn't let them take it down" from the online order portal. They offered to sub any other entree, but we're vegan and had already ordered the only other vegan entree, so we got more. Tons of the chow mein for dinner that night. It was fine, but not what we intended. Employees weren't rude, but seemed annoyed they had to deal with us. Submitted a complaint to the Panda Express site that evening, been several weeks with no response. Overall food was what we expected, middle of the road chinese food, but the experience was crap. We ordered from them soley for the Beyond Orange Chicken and couldn't get it, won't bother with them again.
Ordered a family meal and was faced with a variety of problems. Firstly, the name “Beef and Broccoli” is very misleading as there is little to no beef. What’s the point of handing it out if there’s a cheaper option of veggie greens that has essentially the same thing. Also, Teriyaki chicken was half filled. What’s the point of ordering a family meal if the food being distributed into the containers is not enough for a family? There is always a mistake in my order specifically at this place. Very inconsistent.
Its Panda. The Americanized Chinese Food pit stop. The food is good and the fast service is always a plus. They have a tea bar in this location, so if you are into thai tea or flavored specialty teas they've got that as well. Update 4/17/2021 - Seems as of late, they have changed some ordering procedures. If you want sauces of any kind, you need to ask when you order or at the window or they will not put any in your bag. Learned this the hard way. Got a couple miles down the road and had to turn around, so I snatched some pics while I was at it.
