About P.F. Chang's

P.F. Chang's, located at 102 W 47th St, Kansas City, MO 64112, USA, is a prominent fixture in the city's dining scene, particularly within the upscale Plaza area. As a well-known national chain operating within the "Chinese Restaurant" category, P.F. Chang's differentiates itself by offering a contemporary take on Asian cuisine, moving beyond traditional Chinese fare to incorporate flavors and influences from across Asia. For reservations or inquiries, the restaurant can be reached at (816) 931-9988 or via mobile at +1 816-931-9988. It serves as a popular destination for both locals and visitors seeking a more refined yet accessible Asian dining experience.

The environment at P.F. Chang's is consistently characterized by its distinctive ambiance, known for its stylish and contemporary decor. While not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, the brand's signature aesthetic typically includes large, striking horse statues, dim lighting, and an open kitchen where wok chefs can be seen in action. This creates an inviting and often energetic atmosphere suitable for various occasions, from casual lunches to more celebratory dinners. The location in the Plaza area further enhances its appeal, offering a vibrant backdrop and often ample seating, even on holiday occasions. This sophisticated yet comfortable setting is a key element of the P.F. Chang's experience, distinguishing it from more traditional, casual Chinese eateries.

Service at P.F. Chang's receives a mixed but generally positive reception, with individual experiences heavily influenced by the specific server. There are instances of truly outstanding service, as exemplified by a server named Todd, who made an Easter party of seven "amazing" and their experience "outstanding." This highlights the potential for highly attentive, professional, and memorable service. Other positive notes include quick service and very helpful staff. However, there are also instances where service falls short. One review noted not seeing their server after food delivery, preventing them from addressing issues with their meal. Another instance mentioned not receiving requested sauce. These inconsistencies suggest that while the restaurant employs capable staff, the level of attentiveness can vary. The willingness of a server to offer to remake a dish when informed of an issue (even if too late for the customer) indicates a desire to rectify problems, aligning with a customer-service oriented approach typical of a chain of this caliber.

The features of P.F. Chang's cuisine extend beyond a singular regional Chinese style, aiming for a broader "Asian fusion" appeal. The menu is known for its wok-fired dishes, a signature preparation method that ensures high heat and fresh ingredients. While specific menu items mentioned include sweet and sour chicken, Mongolian beef, hot and sour soup, eggplant, broccoli in brown sauce, egg rolls, spring rolls, and kids' fried rice and fruit, the overall offerings encompass a wide array of appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Dishes like the eggplant are specifically praised for being "delicious," and the Mongolian beef is noted as "good." P.F. Chang's is also known for its signature lettuce wraps, though this specific review does not mention them directly. They also typically offer a range of vegetarian and gluten-free options, catering to various dietary needs, a feature that broadens their appeal significantly.

However, the consistency of food quality can be a point of variability. While some dishes are described as "delicious" and "everythin we ordered was delicious," there are instances of disappointment. The hot and sour soup was criticized for being "neither hot or sour," and the broccoli in brown sauce for lacking heat and flavor. Sweet and sour chicken was described as having "mushy" breading. Egg rolls and spring rolls were found to be "very dry" and "not very good," with the added frustration of not receiving requested sauce. These critiques suggest that while the menu is diverse and appealing, the execution of certain dishes might not always meet the brand's usual high standards, leading to a varied culinary experience for diners.

A notable feature for families is the kids' meal, which is recognized for being "a good value, $5 for fried rice, fruit, broccoli and a drink," indicating a family-friendly approach to dining. This attention to younger diners, providing both value and a balanced meal, is a strong point for families choosing P.F. Chang's for a meal out.

Regarding promotional information, no explicit, ongoing promotional offers are detailed in the provided customer reviews. However, the restaurant's location in the popular Plaza area implicitly serves as a promotional tool, drawing customers seeking a dining experience in a vibrant part of Kansas City. The brand's national recognition and established reputation also act as a strong form of promotion, attracting diners familiar with P.F. Chang's from other locations. The concept of "value" is mentioned in the context of the kids' meal, indicating that even without explicit discounts, certain offerings provide good worth for the price. During holiday periods like Easter and Father's Day, the restaurant's ability to accommodate larger parties and maintain a bustling atmosphere indicates its popularity and capacity to handle high demand. While not explicitly stated as promotions, the overall dining experience, including the stylish environment, diverse menu, and generally attentive service, are the core elements that continually attract and retain customers.

In conclusion, P.F. Chang's at 102 W 47th St, Kansas City, MO, offers a contemporary Asian dining experience in a stylish Plaza setting. Known for its broad menu of wok-fired dishes and a range of Asian-inspired flavors, it aims to provide a refined yet accessible meal. While excellent service and delicious dishes are often experienced, there can be inconsistencies in food quality and service attention. It remains a popular choice for those seeking a modern Asian restaurant with options for families and a generally appealing ambiance.

Update 04/20/2025 We had a party of 7 for Easter. Todd was our server. I don’t have enough adjectives to describe how amazing Todd made our experience. Everything we ordered was delicious and again Todd made the experience outstanding! Thank you Todd!! Update: We went for Father’s Day and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The exceptions were the egg rolls and spring rolls, neither were very good and very dry. We asked for sauce and unfortunately didn’t receive it. The eggplant was delicious as were all of our entrees. Our original server came back and provided excellent service. We’ve been eating at PF Changs around the country for years. It’s usually very good. Tonight not so much. The hot and sour soup was neither hot or sour. I ordered broccoli in brown sauce, it wasn’t hot and had little flavor. I brought it home so it could be seasoned and hot when I eat it. My husband ordered sweet and sour chicken he said the breading was mushy. When we told our server he said you should have let me know and I would have had another one made. Well we couldn’t tell him because we didn’t see him after he served our food. The kids meal was a good value, $5 for fried rice, fruit, broccoli and a drink. The baby seemed to enjoy the rice. My son said the Mongolian beef was good. Overall not the best service or experience.

Decided to have lunch someplace new, to us. There was plenty of seating due to the holiday. The service was quick, and he was very helpful. We definitely want to come back and try more from their menu.

First table we were gonna be seated at was dirty. Got moved to clean table but seats were very sticky. Silverware felt oily too. Got seated during shift exchange because we were told the waitress would get our drinks. She didn’t come and then heard her telling everyone bye. Took a while to place order with waiter. For the price, the food and experience wasn’t that great. Not planning to come back. Only thing we really enjoyed was the dynamite shrimp appetizers but not our meals.

From the moment I stepped through the door until the moment I left, the entire dining experience was exceptional. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by the host, who promptly seated me without delay, setting the tone for the attentive and friendly service I would receive throughout the evening. My server, Cliff, went above and beyond to make the evening memorable. He was not only attentive but also extremely knowledgeable about the menu. When it came to choosing wine, he listened carefully to my preferences and offered several excellent options that perfectly suited my taste, demonstrating his expertise and genuine care for the dining experience. When the food arrived, it was clear that great attention had been paid to the quality and presentation. Every dish was served fresh, steaming hot, and bursting with flavor. Each bite was delicious, exceeding my expectations. Additionally, the menu itself was thoughtfully designed—it was concise and easy to read, which I appreciated because it made choosing my meal straightforward and enjoyable. Each menu item clearly outlined its ingredients and accompaniments, eliminating any guesswork. Although my overall experience was fantastic, I do wish the restaurant offered a broader selection of sushi dishes, as their limited sushi options left me wanting more. Nevertheless, the exceptional service, especially from Cliff, and the delicious food have certainly ensured that I will return again. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a delightful dining experience.

Great food and atmosphere for a date night or celebration dinner. Wanted to take my sister out for her birthday & they didn’t disappoint! The food came out fast, hot, & fresh! We got a free dessert for her birthday. Our waitress was so sweet. Even the guest joined in & sung happy birthday to her! Definitely a must!
