About P.F. Chang's

P.F. Chang's, situated in the prominent Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, offers a menu of Americanized Chinese cuisine. Once known for its "decent upper class fusion Chinese," particularly its dry spare ribs, recent feedback suggests a potential shift in the restaurant's standards.

Several customers have expressed disappointment with their recent dining experiences. Criticisms include a perceived deterioration in food quality, with one reviewer stating the food was "utter rubbish" and questioning how a chain could reach such a low standard. Specific dishes receiving negative feedback include the dry spare ribs, described as lacking taste and missing their signature spice sprinkles. The lettuce wraps were deemed "okay" but with meat likened to canned or factory-produced. The crab wontons, featuring a cream cheese injection, were criticized for losing any semblance of seafood or Chinese flavor. Even simple dishes like edamame were noted as bland, lacking salt.

Further complaints targeted the orange chicken, described as being excessively sour due to being "dunked into orange juice." While the lo mein was considered "bearable," the overall sentiment from some reviewers was highly negative, with recommendations to avoid the restaurant in favor of local Chinese alternatives, citing the prices as not justified by the quality. One reviewer went as far as predicting potential closure due to a lack of customers on a Friday night.

However, not all feedback has been entirely negative. One customer, returning after a long hiatus and with prior less-than-positive experiences at other P.F. Chang's locations, reported an "overall positive delicious back again experience." This suggests that experiences may vary, and some diners might still find enjoyment in the food and service at this location.

Given the contrasting recent reviews, potential diners at P.F. Chang's in Palo Alto should be aware of the spectrum of experiences reported. While some long-time patrons have noted a decline, others have had satisfactory visits. It may be prudent to consider recent feedback alongside personal preferences when deciding to dine at this establishment.

Oh how far has PF Changs fallen to disgrace with deterioration since private equity took over. This one at a premier location in Stanford Shopping Center is utter rubbish and perhaps a new invention as to how bad you can make Americanized Chinese food. Even a chain can't go this low. There was a time, perhaps a decade ago, where PF Changs stood for decent upper class fusion Chinese. Their dry spare ribs with spice sprinkles were pretty amazing. Well not anymore. The meat was soft but wasn't tasteful or marinated enough. And they took away the spices. The lettuce wraps were okay but the meat felt like it was from a can or a factory. The crab wontons had cream cheese injected into them which completely throws away the balance of anything remotely seafood or Chinese. The edamame didn't even have salt on it. The damage doesn't stop there. The orange chicken literally was dunked into orange juice and was sour to an unbearable degree. The lo mein was bearable though. And lastly, to rub salt on the wound, it ain't even that cheap. Save yourself time and money and a cringing palate. Go to any one of the many local Chinese restaurants around Palo Alto. Won't ever be returning. Wouldn't be surprised if the place shuts down soon as they barely had customers on a Friday night.

I haven’t been to a P.F.Chang’s for decades and my first time reviewing. As I recalled I always had a less than positive overall experiences eating at any P.F. Chang’s priors thus my two decade pause and also shows in their low customer feedback ratings as well. However i have to say I was glad to be back here for dinner and we had an overall positive delicious back again experience.

Great tasting food. The veggie lettuce wrap was amazing. Kung Pao Tofu was also very nice and crispy. Spring rolls were not so good - me and my son didn't like it.

Nice clean place. Servers are attentive. Food is good. Spicy dishes can be adjusted upon request especially if members in the group cant take anything too spicy. We ordered Singaporean noodles, it would have helped if there was an indication that it was spicy. Dishes come with an order of white or brown rice.

I went to have some drinks at the bar and stumbled on their Happy Hour! Great HH menu! We got a Margarita and a Cosmo. We also got some lettuce wraps and shrimp somethings. The wraps came with this amazing peanut-like sauce which totally kicked them up. The shrimp somethings were ok, nothing special.
