About P.F. Chang's

Welcome to P.F. Chang's, a Chinese restaurant located at 201 San Jacinto Blvd in downtown Austin, Texas. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, P.F. Chang's offers a notable dining experience with a spacious environment and a central bar.

The interior of this P.F. Chang's location is described as very spacious and relaxed, featuring many sofa tables, making it suitable for handling large groups. The decor is often beautifully updated to reflect the seasons, and a prominent feature is the large statues of horses inside the restaurant.

The restaurant boasts a fully stocked bar that serves as a focal point. Regarding services, while valet parking was previously available, recent feedback indicates that it has been discontinued, and parking is now limited to an adjacent, reportedly overpriced paid parking lot (around $15 for 45 minutes) or often full paid street parking, which can make driving downtown frustrating.

Customer opinions on the authenticity of the Chinese cuisine are mixed, with some finding the food to be just "okay" and not comparable to more authentic Chinese options. However, recent visits suggest an improvement in food quality, with everything being fresh and not overcooked. The mixed drinks are reportedly delicious and well-presented.

A notable feature is the dessert, which has received high recommendations. Customers are advised to save room for it. The menu has seen changes and updates, including new items. One specific change mentioned is the sauce for the lettuce wraps, which has been updated to a peanut butter flavor, a change not favored by all who preferred the older table sauces. The portion sizes of the plates are large enough to be shared between two people.

Overall, recent experiences suggest a pleasant visit with attentive and friendly staff, despite potential parking challenges and varied opinions on the food's authenticity. The ambiance, seasonal decor, central bar, and highly recommended desserts are noteworthy aspects of this P.F. Chang's location in downtown Austin. The inside is very spacious and relaxed, with many sofa tables. It is easy to handle a large group. Their food was okay. It was still not great Chinese compared to other authentic Chinese. You may feel the difference if you know good Chinese….😅 Their service seemed messed up when it was crowded. Their dessert was good! I highly recommend having them. Please keep your stomach free to allow for that 👍

This location is always beautifully decorated with the seasons. There are large statues of horses inside the restaurant. The fully stocked bar is the center of the restaurant. This location used to have valet parking but when we recently went, the valet parking was gone and there was an over priced paid parking lot next to the restaurant. I believe it was $15 for 45 minutes. There was paid parking on the street but it was full and driving the downtown location is frustrating. The food has improved. Everything was fresh and wasn't over cooked like in the past visits. The mixed drinks were delicious and presented well! The sauce on the lettuce wraps has changed to a peanut butter flavored sauce. I'm not a fan of it. I preferred the old table sauces. The plates are large enough to share between 2 people. There has been changes/updates to the menu and new items have been brought in. Overall, this visit was pleasant and the staff was attentive and friendly.

Had a fantastic dinner at the downtown location! Our server Matt was friendly, knowledgeable and super attentive! The tofu in the fried rice was cooked to perfection and the lettuce wraps sooo tasty!

The Teriyaki Trio was fabulous! I ordered the lo mein with my entree. It was okay but not a personal favorite. Our server, Matt, was very personable and attentive to our needs. We arrived late afternoon, so there were only a few patrons in the restaurant. We were able to easily carry on a conversation at our table or enjoy the music. Would definitely go back again to try other menu items.
