About Oriental Star

Oriental Star, located at 4212 Bishop Ln in Louisville, KY 40218, operates within the Chinese restaurant category, offering a range of dishes and services to the local community. Based on recent customer reviews, Oriental Star appears to primarily function as a takeout establishment, although it may offer limited dine-in options. This introduction aims to provide a detailed and objective overview of Oriental Star, drawing from available customer feedback regarding its environment, services, and the quality of its food.

According to one customer who "dropped in" after seeing the location on maps, Oriental Star is "definitely not a dine-in restaurant although you can eat here." This suggests that while there might be some seating available, the primary focus and setup of the establishment are geared towards order pickup. This might influence the overall ambiance and environment for the occasional dine-in customer, potentially lacking the full amenities and atmosphere of a traditional sit-down restaurant. However, for customers primarily interested in takeout, this might not be a significant factor.

In terms of services, the reviews indicate that Oriental Star offers takeout, as it is described as more of an "order for pick-up place." One customer also received a delivery, although the details of the ordering process for delivery are not provided. The presence of phone numbers, (502) 452-9898 and +1 502-452-9898, confirms that customers can place orders over the phone for pickup. It is advisable for local users to confirm the availability and details of any delivery services directly with the restaurant.

The features of Oriental Star, particularly the quality and taste of its food, have received mixed feedback in the recent reviews. One customer ordered a combination of dishes, including black pepper chicken with noodles, chicken and broccoli combo, and crab rangoon, for a total exceeding $36. This customer expressed significant dissatisfaction with several aspects of their order. The black pepper chicken was described as "terrible" and "VERY sweet," with a noticeable "sugar granules" texture, contrary to the expectation that this dish should not be sweet. The chicken and broccoli were also criticized, with the broccoli noted to have "many bad spots," the chicken being "without flavor" and tasting "a bit off putting," and the rice being "dry and clumped together." The egg roll, which came with the combo, was reported to contain "cabbage only" and was excessively "greasy," suggesting an issue with the cooking oil. While the crab rangoon was rated slightly better at 3 out of 5 by the reviewer's wife, it was also noted to be "very sweet" and contain "lots of onion," which might not appeal to all palates. The noodles were described as "not terrible" but "over cooked" and "very dark," lacking vegetables but having "some seasoning." A notable negative point was that the order did not include fortune cookies or sauces, and the restaurant did not ask if any were desired.

Another customer had a more positive experience with different dishes, ordering shrimp lo-mein and dumplings, both of which they found to be "very good" and "worth the stop" for lunch or dinner. This suggests that the quality of dishes at Oriental Star might be inconsistent or that different items on the menu are prepared to varying standards. The stark contrast between the two reviews highlights the importance for potential customers to consider the specific dishes they are interested in and the range of experiences reported by others.

Currently, there is no information available in the provided reviews regarding any promotional offers or specials at Oriental Star. It is common for Chinese restaurants to have lunch specials, combination deals, or other promotions to attract customers. Local residents interested in ordering from Oriental Star might want to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about any current offers that could provide better value or highlight specific popular dishes that have received positive feedback.

In conclusion, Oriental Star in Louisville primarily functions as a takeout Chinese restaurant, with limited dine-in possibly available. Recent customer reviews present a mixed picture regarding the quality of the food. While one customer found the shrimp lo-mein and dumplings to be very good, another reported significant issues with the black pepper chicken, chicken and broccoli, egg roll, and rice, noting the sweetness of some dishes and the lack of expected accompaniments. The crab rangoon received a moderate rating but was also described as sweet and onion-heavy. The service experience regarding the provision of sauces and fortune cookies was also negative for one customer. Given this varied feedback, local users might want to consider the specific dishes they are interested in and the reported inconsistencies in quality when deciding whether to order from Oriental Star. For information on delivery services and any current promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

Ordered black pepper chicken with noodles, chicken and broccoli combo, and crab rangoon. Over $36 for this little bit. Black pepper chicken- terrible. Never again. Was VERY sweet. Could feel the sugar granules on my tongue. Black pepper chicken should not be sweet at all. Chicken and broccoli- broccoli had many bad spots in it. Chicken was without flavor and tasted a bit off putting. Rice was dry and clumped together. Not good. Egg Roll(came with combo)- cabbage only. Very greasy. Grease needs cleaned. Crab Rangoon- my wife LOVES this recipe. Very sweet. Lots of onion. I give them a 3/5. Noodles- not terrible. Over cooked, very dark, some seasoning was there, no vegetables. NOTE: No fortune cookies, no sauces, they didn't ask. For $36 for only this is very expensive for the quality being produced. Will not return to this location.

Saw this place on maps so I dropped in. Definitely not a dine-in restaurant although you can eat here. It's more of an order for pick-up place. I had the shrimp lo-mein and dumplings. Both were very good. Worth the stop if you want Chinese for lunch or dinner.

So, I wanted some Chinese food and so i googled location and I found this hole in the wall place. Taste is on point. Quick because I'm on my lunch break. For a small restaurant they met my expectations. So glad they are close to my house. Today Oriental Star gets my ⭐

The food is not very flavorful. The plate I got was good only because I like vegetables but if you are going based on taste it is very bland. The fried rice did not seem to be fried but tasted more like some ricearoni rice. Crab ragoons were on the sweeter side but were the best thing I got

Quick service. Delicious food. This is now a limited table carry out place. I remember when it was a full service place. Food is still as good, but it is sad to see these places that no longer offer table service.
