About Oriental Sizzling

Welcome to Oriental Sizzling, a Chinese restaurant located at 1426 W Chicago Blvd, Tecumseh, MI 49286, USA. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, Oriental Sizzling serves the Tecumseh community, primarily offering carry-out service based on available information. You can contact them at (517) 423-1212 or +1 517-423-1212 for inquiries or to place an order.

Based on the overwhelmingly negative customer reviews, Oriental Sizzling appears to have faced significant criticism regarding the quality of its food, ingredients, and potentially its hygiene practices. Multiple reviewers have expressed extreme dissatisfaction, indicating a decline in quality over time and raising serious concerns for potential local users.

One long-time customer stated that Oriental Sizzling "used to be the best around, but is mediocre at Best." They detailed several issues with their recent orders, including "very over cooked" chicken, fried rice with "no seasoning or flavor," and dumplings that have changed from a wonton base to a "heavy batter." The plum table sauce was also described as "too vinegary." This reviewer expressed significant disappointment and stated they "probably won’t be back" due to the declining quality over multiple orders.

Another highly critical review detailed multiple negative experiences over six years, noting that initially, some dishes were "so-so and missing a lot of ingredients that other restaurants would use." This reviewer went on to state, "this is one of the worst Chineese restaurants ever." Their more recent experience with sweet and sour pork and sweet and sour chicken, ordered in hopes of improvement from previous unsatisfactory dishes like almond chicken and broccoli beef, also proved to be negative. They described the rice as "always Bland it's not fried it's just a brown rice."

A particularly concerning point raised in this review is the mention of "Woody chicken," described as "a disease of the chicken itself that is in the breast" resulting in "very thick and striated meet muscle very tough and chewy" with a poor taste. The reviewer suggests that Oriental Sizzling uses this lower quality, cheaper chicken. They also heavily criticized the sauces, describing them as "nasty no taste," with the sweet and sour sauce likened to "light corn syrup with little tiny bit of vinegar and water" and deemed "gross." This customer emphatically stated, "We will never eat there again we are done."

Furthermore, this reviewer claimed that "They have never opened up their inside of their restaurant since covid that is pretty dirty in there." This is a serious allegation regarding the hygiene and maintenance of the restaurant premises. The reviewer also expressed surprise that the restaurant is still open given the predominantly negative reviews over the past six to eight years and suggested that the restaurant needs to close and be replaced by a "really good Chinese restaurant" with better quality ingredients and cooking. They even mentioned that other local Chinese options are also poor, indicating a general dissatisfaction with Chinese food in the area.

The most alarming part of this extensive negative review includes a suggestion to "petition to get this restaurant closed" and a claim that "people have been getting slimy food and have been getting sick," urging the Health Department to conduct an "unexpected inspection." These are severe allegations that raise significant health and safety concerns for potential customers.

Given the consistent and strongly negative feedback focusing on poor food quality, substandard ingredients (including the alleged use of "Woody chicken"), unappetizing sauces, and potential hygiene issues, it is difficult to identify any positive features or services based on these reviews. The fact that the indoor dining area has reportedly remained closed since COVID-19 might be a service aspect to note, suggesting a continued reliance solely on carry-out.

No information regarding promotional offers or the environment (beyond the negative claim about cleanliness) can be gleaned from these reviews. The overwhelming sentiment is one of extreme disappointment and a recommendation to avoid the restaurant altogether.

For local users in Tecumseh, MI, the provided reviews paint a very negative picture of Oriental Sizzling. The concerns raised about food quality, the type of chicken used, the taste of the sauces, and potential hygiene issues are significant. The strong recommendations against patronizing this establishment and the suggestion of health risks should be taken very seriously. Potential customers might want to consider these reviews carefully before deciding to order from Oriental Sizzling.

Due to the severely negative nature of the available feedback, it would be prudent for local users to exercise extreme caution. Seeking alternative Chinese dining options in the area, even if it requires traveling to nearby towns as suggested by one reviewer, might be a safer and more satisfying choice based on this information. Contacting the restaurant directly for more information might not address the fundamental issues raised by multiple dissatisfied customers over an extended period.

In conclusion, the available online reviews for Oriental Sizzling in Tecumseh, MI, are overwhelmingly negative, citing issues with food quality, ingredients (including the alleged use of "Woody chicken"), tasteless sauces, and potential hygiene concerns. There is a strong sentiment among reviewers to avoid this restaurant, with some even suggesting health risks and the need for regulatory intervention. Local users are strongly advised to consider these serious concerns before choosing to dine at or order from Oriental Sizzling.

This used to be the best around, but is mediocre at Best. Chicken very over cooked, no seasoning or flavor to the fried rice Dumplings used to be made with wonton , now has heavy batter. Plum table sauce too vinegary! Very disappointed in the quality the past few times we ordered from there! Get back to the pride in the food you make because this has been bad for quite some time! Probably won’t be back.

We have had eaten their good a few times a year in the past 6 years hoping each time maybe it would be different and find a good dish and ordered something that we didn't eat before. At first a few dishes were so-so and missing a lot of ingredients that other restaurants would use. I have eaten that many Chinese restaurants in my life and many different states. this is one of the worst Chineese restaurants ever. Tonight we tried sweet and sour pork and sweet and sour chicken. Hoping they improve from the almond chicken dish and broccoli beef we ordered a month ago. The rice is always Bland it's not fried it's just a brown rice. The chicken they use is what they call Woody chicken and this is a disease of the chicken itself that is in the breast. Just look it up Woody Chicken on google. And the store you can get it also by accident because it's really thick and striated meet muscle very tough and chewy. Doesn't taste good. In the store when you buy chicken you cannot see that it's woodiness necessarily always. The top of the breast will be a little whiter and harder in the package. If you could see underneath the chicken breast before your buy it, you would notice that it has striations like beef roast does when cooked. They get the very low quality and chicken when it's Woody because it's cheaper their sauces are nasty no taste. I think the sweet and sour sauce for the chicken was light corn syrup with little tiny bit of vinegar and water it was gross. We will never eat there again we are done. They have never opened up their inside of their restaurant since covid that is pretty dirty in there. To be honest after reading all these other reviews in the last six to eight years and current there's more negative about this place I am so surprised they're still open they need to close down and open up a really good Chinese restaurant find someone who knows how to cook Chinese food and not skimp out on the ingredients and the quality also the Wok restaurant in Adrian is also not very good. I tried their coconut shrimp and that wasn't good. I tried other stuff there and it wasn't good either so we don't have good Chinese food down in this area. I guess I have to go to Ann Arbor or Toledo. I make better Chinese food than that. The Oriental sizzle does not even do fried rice correctly there's nothing fried about it nothing in it and this has happened more than once once I suggest we petition to get this restaurant closed. According to these reviews that I read people have been getting slimy food and have been getting sick so maybe we need the Health Department to inspect them unexpectedly.

Went from 5 stars to 2 over the last 4 years. Food went downhill and what was one a weekly is a won't even try it every six months like I've been doing the last few years hoping it would get better.

I don’t post reviews often but this place was terrible. First and last time I will go there. Food was bland. Service isn’t much to speak about. The interior doesn’t look well kept.
