About Oriental Quick Stop

Welcome to Oriental Quick Stop, a Chinese restaurant situated at 433 US-15 in Bishopville, South Carolina. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Oriental Quick Stop aims to serve the local community with a variety of Chinese dishes. Based on the limited online reviews available, the restaurant appears to offer a somewhat unique and potentially inconsistent experience, with feedback varying significantly regarding food quantity, quality, and the overall service environment.

One customer who ordered the shrimp fried rice reported a significant imbalance in the dish, stating there was "enough rice to choke a horse but only 4 Shrimp." This suggests a potential issue with the proportion of ingredients in some of their dishes, where the main protein might be scarce compared to the filler. This reviewer also mentioned receiving six unexpected chicken wings, which they found to be "greasy and not that good." The unsolicited addition of a subpar item further contributed to a less than satisfactory meal. Overall, this customer rated the food as "not the worst Chinese food but not even average" and concluded that they "wouldn't eat there again," indicating a negative overall experience.

In stark contrast, another reviewer painted a very different picture, describing their visit as "amazing." This customer's experience evoked the image of "being in Thailand, in a hot small restaurant with one owner and no help!" This suggests a very small-scale operation, possibly run single-handedly, which could contribute to a more personalized but perhaps less conventional service style. The reviewer noted that the owner took their order, cooked the food, and bagged it for takeout. Despite the seemingly modest setup, the food was reportedly "devoured" by their guests upon arrival home. Interestingly, this reviewer also mentioned that the owner "does Chinese also!" implying that the restaurant might offer other types of cuisine as well, though the focus here is on its categorization as a Chinese restaurant. A significant positive for this customer was that the owner made everything "exactly as I wanted 'Extra spicy'!" This indicates a willingness to accommodate specific customer preferences, which can be a significant draw for those with particular dietary needs or taste preferences. This reviewer strongly encouraged others to "Give them a try!" suggesting a positive overall impression despite the seemingly unconventional operation.

From these two contrasting reviews, we can observe several key points about Oriental Quick Stop:

  • Inconsistent Food Quality and Balance: One review noted an excess of rice and a scarcity of shrimp, along with unexpectedly poor chicken wings, while another praised the taste and customization.
  • Small-Scale Operation: The description of a "hot small restaurant with one owner and no help" suggests a very lean operation, potentially impacting service speed and environment.
  • Personalized Service Potential: The owner's willingness to cook to specific spice levels indicates a potential for accommodating individual requests.
  • Mixed Overall Experiences: One customer had a negative experience and would not return, while the other had an "amazing" visit.

The environment of Oriental Quick Stop, as described by one reviewer, is a "hot small restaurant," potentially giving customers an intimate but perhaps less comfortable setting, especially in warmer weather. The mention of "one owner and no help" suggests that the service might be very direct and personal but could also be slower or less polished than in larger establishments. The imagery of being in a small restaurant in Thailand hints at a possibly simple and unpretentious ambiance, focusing more on the food and the interaction with the owner than on elaborate decor or extensive facilities.

In terms of services, Oriental Quick Stop primarily seems to offer takeout, as both reviewers mentioned taking their food home. The second reviewer's account of the owner taking the order, cooking, and bagging it highlights a direct, hands-on approach to service. It is not explicitly stated whether dine-in or delivery options are available. Given the description of a "small restaurant with one owner," dine-in might be limited or very basic. To inquire about the full range of services, including potential delivery options or the availability of seating, customers would need to contact Oriental Quick Stop directly using the provided phone numbers: (803) 484-4767 and +1 803-484-4767.

No specific promotional information is mentioned in the provided reviews. To learn about any special offers, discounts, or featured dishes at Oriental Quick Stop, local users would need to contact the restaurant directly. Given the small scale of the operation described, it is possible that promotions might be limited or communicated directly at the premises or via phone.

To gain a more comprehensive understanding of Oriental Quick Stop, it would be beneficial to know more about their menu beyond the shrimp fried rice and chicken wings mentioned. Typical Chinese restaurants offer a wide variety of dishes, including different types of fried rice, noodle dishes, poultry, beef, pork, and seafood entrees, as well as soups and appetizers. Knowing the full scope of their offerings would help potential customers determine if their culinary preferences align with what is available.

In conclusion, Oriental Quick Stop in Bishopville, SC, appears to be a small, owner-operated Chinese restaurant that offers a potentially unique and personalized experience. However, customer reviews indicate a significant divergence in satisfaction, with one reporting issues with food balance and quality, while another praised the taste and the owner's willingness to customize dishes. The environment is described as a "hot small restaurant," suggesting a simple and perhaps less conventional setting. Services seem to focus on takeout, with limited information available about dine-in or delivery. Potential customers should be aware of the mixed feedback and might want to try Oriental Quick Stop to form their own opinion, especially if they value personalized service and are willing to overlook a potentially basic setting. Contacting the restaurant directly at the provided phone numbers is recommended for inquiries about their menu, services, and any current promotions.

My new favorite for when I'm in the mood. I've never had a issue and I order the same thing each time. My only grievance is how they give you your change. It might be a cultural thing

Called my order in and was ready when I got there. Very tasty, a very good portion and can't beat the price. This is the place I always stop to get something to eat when I'm in the area. You can dine in, but I'm usually traveling to get some place and my stomach loves me when I stop here.
