It's about what you would expect for Chinese food. It had decent flavor and good portions. Service was decent. The lower review was for the bathrooms and my experience. I waited to use the restroom which is no issue. My problem was that a staff member used it before me as I watched them come out. Apparently this staff member does not know how to lift a seat, or wipe their pee off a seat. Childish and gross. Considering I had to clean up after another grown person so I could use the restroom.
I have eaten in this restaurant since it opened. Always had good food & service. Tonight I did take out. When I got home the food was the worst I have ever gotten. I ordered my food with brown sauce, it came, with white sauce. The egg rolls were like rubber. The crab Rangoon was so hard you could not bite it. I called the restaurant & they told me that I had to bring it all back. I live 30 minutes away. I told the manager I could not bring it back tonight. She informed me that they could not help me then. I spend a lot of money here but will probably never go back. Extremely rude on the phone. I don’t recommend going there to anybody!
Rated as one of the best Chinese restaurants in town, we wanted to stop by and check it out. We were disappointed by the quality of the food for sure. Very “American Chinese” food and zero atmosphere. The food came quick but it wasn’t great and I ended up sick within 30 minutes of eating. Do yourself a favor, skip the place and find somewhere else to eat.
For Oriental House, our last supper. What we once considered our absolute best choice for Chinese takeout, has fallen to a position of “never again”. Prices have risen- I know food costs have increased, but the price increases have outpaced costs. Over time the hot and sour soup, which used to be a draw for us, has become generic in flavor and the vegetables fewer in number. Tonight the Shrimp Fried Rice had no vegetables, the scrambled eggs not existent, and the rice was not fried, as expected. The Shrimp Lo Mein shared the same soft and small shrimp, cleverly stacked on the top of the order so that it was not obvious that’s all there was in the bowl. Normally at $41, we could at least say we could eat leftovers to increase the value. Two still-full bowls headed for the trash ends both this review and our visits to Oriental House.
This is a favorite in Greenville. The inside isn’t huge but has a great atmosphere. Large portions, love the food. They do a great job. A couple times our takeout was incorrect, so check before you leave if taking it to go. Otherwise I could eat here multiple times a week.
