About Oriental Garden

Welcome to Oriental Garden, your local Chinese restaurant situated at 1256 W Foxwood Dr in Raymore, Missouri. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Oriental Garden offers a variety of Chinese dishes and services to cater to the local community. Based on the available customer reviews, Oriental Garden presents a mixed experience, with some customers praising the fresh taste and friendly service, while others have noted areas for potential improvement, particularly regarding the dining environment and the execution of certain dishes.

One reviewer who dined in found the experience to be just "ok." They noted that the food was served on paper plates and in takeout containers, which might detract from the ambiance for some dine-in customers. The reviewer also observed that there was only one person managing the front of the restaurant, leading to somewhat slow service, especially as takeout diners seemed to be prioritized. This prioritization was perceived as "backwards" by the reviewer, who felt that customers taking the time to dine in should receive more immediate attention. Despite these points, they mentioned that the food wasn't bad but also not particularly special. Specifically, they tried the General Tso's chicken, which they found to be good but not very spicy. Their assessment of the crab rangoon was also lukewarm, noting that the wonton wrappers were thicker than usual and tasted like they were frozen and fried rather than made in-house, though they still considered them "not bad."

In contrast, another review from out-of-town visitors who decided to "gamble" on Oriental Garden was much more positive. They described their experience as "delightful, fresh tasting, and quiet." They also observed that the restaurant seemed to have a significant takeout business. Initially, upon entering and finding that a buffet they might have been expecting was not available (the reason is unclear from the review), they were unsure if they had made the right choice. However, they were ultimately glad they stayed. They specifically praised the Hunan Chicken as "very good" and "spicy," which directly contradicts the other reviewer's experience with the lack of spice in the General Tso's. The Fried Pork Dumplings were also well-received, with the reviewer noting that the oil must have been very fresh, allowing the taste of the pork to come through. The reviewer's wife enjoyed the Sweet and Sour Chicken, and they both found the Egg Rolls to be "so good tasting" and not oily. Furthermore, this reviewer found the staff ("The Lady's inside") to be "friendly and nice," offering a positive perspective on the customer service.

Considering these two reviews, the environment at Oriental Garden appears to be functional but perhaps not focused on a traditional dine-in experience, as evidenced by the use of paper plates and takeout containers for dine-in customers. The quiet atmosphere noted by one reviewer might be appealing to some, while the potential for slow service due to the prioritization of takeout orders could be a drawback for others. The fact that it seems to have a strong takeout business suggests that many locals appreciate the convenience of their food for off-site consumption.

In terms of services, Oriental Garden clearly offers both dine-in and takeout options. The differing experiences suggest that the quality of service might vary depending on whether you are dining in or taking out. The mention of a potentially unavailable buffet indicates that they might have offered this in the past or that the out-of-town visitors were mistaken about its availability. To clarify the full range of services, including whether they offer delivery or catering, it would be best to contact the restaurant directly.

Features of Oriental Garden seem to include the potential for fresh-tasting food, as highlighted by the positive reviewer who enjoyed the Hunan Chicken, Fried Pork Dumplings, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Egg Rolls. The spiciness of the Hunan Chicken was also noted as a positive. The friendly and nice demeanor of the staff, as mentioned by the out-of-town visitors, is another potential feature. However, the inconsistency in spice level (General Tso's not spicy) and the use of paper plates for dine-in are points that might be seen as drawbacks by some customers. The quality of the crab rangoon, with its thicker wrappers and potential use of frozen components, also seems to be an area that could be improved.

In conclusion, Oriental Garden in Raymore, MO, at 1256 W Foxwood Dr, is a Chinese restaurant that offers both dine-in and takeout services. Customer reviews present a somewhat mixed picture. While some appreciate the fresh-tasting food, quiet atmosphere, and friendly staff, others have concerns about the dining experience (paper plates, slow service prioritizing takeout) and the quality or preparation of certain dishes like the General Tso's chicken and crab rangoon. Potential customers may want to weigh these differing experiences when deciding whether to dine at Oriental Garden. For the most accurate information on their menu, services, and any current promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is advised.

Was just ok. Food was served on paper plates and takeout containers. Had only one person out front so service was a little slow. Take out diners were priority. Seems backwards to me. I would take care of the customers who took the time to dine in. Anyway, it wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special. I had the General Tso's. It wasn't very spicy at all. Good, but not spicy. Crab Rangoon was ok. The wanton wrappers were quit a bit thicker than most places. Tasted like frozen and fried instead of handmade in house. Still wasn't bad.

We are from out of town and thought we would gamble on the OG. Was delightful, fresh tasting, and quiet. Seem they have a lot of togo business. Walked in, and I thought maybe this was a mistake ( we was looking for a buffet), but it wasn't available, idk?? I'm glad we stayed. Hunan Chicken was very good, spicy! Fried Pork Dumplings were good, oil must be really fresh, and you taste the pork. Wife said here Sweet and Sour Chicken tasted good as well. The same goes for their Egg Rolls, so good tasting, not an oily taste. The Lady's inside were friendly and nice.

I came in on a Saturday at 12:15pm. to give the Oriental Garden a try being I was in Raymore. Other than myself, there was a family of five present and nobody else patroning the restaurant at the time. Unlike previous posters, as of writing this review, the restaurant did not have a buffett. Upon entry, the gentleman behind the counter was very kind he got me seated quickly and took my order. The overall wait time on the food was very short ( within 5 minutes) 1 large beef fried rice 2 pork egg rolls 3 crab Rangoon 1 pepsi Came to 20.68 ( Picture included in the review) The price was about on average with other take out style restaurants around the area. As per the taste of the food, It was on par once again with other restaurants in the area. The restaurant did seem clean, along with the restroom. So, in closing, Would I discourage a visit to the Oriental Garden in Raymore? No, I would not, and yes, if I was in the area, I would return more than likely. However, I would not drive out of my way to come back here, on the other hand. A fair review to me would be an upper 3, maybe lower 4.

I ordered takeout. It was so fast! Friendly guy when I walked in to get it. The food was subpar and lacked flavor. I’m not usually very picky but it wasn’t my favorite. The prices were really awesome though.

The food was bland and honestly some of the worst oriental food I have had in a long time. The curry chicken had no flavor, the garlic chicken was at least edible. Ordered some hot and sour soup and that was the only saving grace. Honestly would not return for a second trip.
