About Oriental Flavor

Welcome to Oriental Flavor, a Chinese Restaurant situated at 25 S Pleasant St in the vibrant town of Amherst, Massachusetts. As a local Chinese restaurant, Oriental Flavor offers a diverse menu that draws inspiration from the rich culinary traditions of Southern China, while also featuring dishes representing the wide spectrum of flavors found throughout the various regions of China. If you are in the Amherst area and looking to explore a broad range of authentic Chinese cuisine, Oriental Flavor presents itself as a noteworthy option.

According to customer reviews, one of the notable aspects of Oriental Flavor is its friendly staff. Patrons have consistently mentioned the welcoming and helpful nature of the team, contributing to a positive overall dining atmosphere. In addition to the service, the restaurant is described as being kept tidy, suggesting a commitment to cleanliness and providing a comfortable environment for guests who choose to dine in. The availability of decent table sizes is also highlighted, indicating that the restaurant can comfortably accommodate both smaller and larger groups, making it a suitable choice for various dining occasions.

In terms of the menu offerings, one customer specifically recommends the chow foon, describing it as "pretty good." They noted that the dish tends to be somewhat oily, but acknowledged that this is generally expected due to the traditional preparation methods of chow foon. This feedback provides insight into a popular noodle dish at Oriental Flavor. Another dish mentioned was the fried squid, which, in this particular customer's experience, was not to their liking. This suggests that while some dishes may be well-received, individual preferences can vary.

A significant feature of Oriental Flavor is their lunch combo specials. These combos offer a convenient and potentially cost-effective way to sample a variety of their dishes. Each lunch combo includes a soup and a smaller portion of a dish that is also available on their regular menu. This provides an opportunity for customers to try different flavors and combinations without committing to a full-sized entrée. The taste of the food at Oriental Flavor is described by one reviewer as being "pretty similar to Chinese restaurants you'd find in Boston," which may offer a point of reference for those familiar with the Chinese culinary scene in that larger city.

Overall, one reviewer concluded that Oriental Flavor is "a great place to visit if you are in the Amherst area," based on their positive experiences with the staff, the cleanliness of the restaurant, and the quality of certain dishes like the chow foon and the lunch combos. This suggests that many customers find Oriental Flavor to be a satisfactory option for Chinese cuisine in Amherst.

However, it is important to consider all feedback to provide a balanced and objective introduction. Another customer had a less favorable experience, noting that while the menu looked appealing, the actual taste of the food was disappointing for most items they tried. This reviewer mentioned that the red pork meat, which reminded them of the pork used in pork fried rice, was tasty. However, they reported that the majority of the other dishes tasted predominantly of chili flakes, lacking other discernible flavors. Additionally, they criticized the plain rice, stating that it tasted as if it had been cooked in water without any added salt or seasoning. This feedback indicates a potential inconsistency in the flavor profiles of different dishes and a lack of seasoning in a staple like rice.

Considering these contrasting reviews, Oriental Flavor appears to be a Chinese Restaurant that offers friendly service and a tidy environment, with a menu rooted in Southern Chinese cuisine and encompassing dishes from various parts of China. Their lunch combos, which include soup and a smaller dish, may be an attractive option for those looking for variety and value. While some dishes, like the chow foon and possibly the red pork, have been positively received, there are also reports of dishes lacking complexity in flavor and basic seasoning. Therefore, individual experiences at Oriental Flavor may vary.

Located at 25 S Pleasant St, Amherst, MA 01002, Oriental Flavor is situated in a central area of Amherst, making it accessible to local residents and visitors. For those interested in trying their cuisine or placing an order for takeout or potential delivery (though delivery is not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, it is a common service for Chinese restaurants, so it may be worth inquiring at (413) 253-7673 or +1 413-253-7673), Oriental Flavor can be contacted via phone. As with any restaurant with mixed reviews, it might be beneficial for new customers to consider trying a few of the recommended dishes or the lunch combos to form their own opinion. The mention of similarities to Boston-style Chinese food might also be a helpful reference point for those familiar with that regional style.

In conclusion, Oriental Flavor offers a Chinese dining experience in Amherst with a focus on Southern Chinese cuisine and dishes from across China. The restaurant is noted for its friendly staff and clean environment. While some customers have enjoyed dishes like the chow foon and appreciated the value of the lunch combos, others have expressed concerns about the flavor profiles of certain items. Potential patrons may want to consider these varying experiences when deciding to visit or order from Oriental Flavor. Exploring their menu and perhaps starting with some of the specifically mentioned dishes could be a good way to gauge whether their offerings align with individual tastes.

Oriental Flavor is a Chinese restaurant with roots in Southern Chinese cuisine, but also has dishes from all across China as well. The staff are quite friendly, restaurant is kept tidy and has decent table sizes for multiple parties. For dishes, I typically got the chow foon, which is pretty good. Kind of oily, but thats expected with how the dish is prepared. I also tried the fried squid, but it wasn't to my liking. They also have lunch combos, which comes with a soup and a smaller plate of a dish they offer on the menu. Taste is pretty similar to Chinese restaurants you'd find in Boston. Overall, a great place to visit if you are in the Amherst area.

The only thing that looked nice was mainly the menu. The red pork meat reminded me of the meat that goes on pork fried rice it was tasty for me. But everything else went downhill simply because it mostly tasted like chili flakes no other flavors. Also, the rice didn’t have salt at all it tasted like the cooked it in water and nothing else.

I’ve been looking for a restaurant to n Western Mass that serves soup dumplings and we found that and much more here! My wife just brought us here for my birthday lunch and it was amazing. Soup dumplings, scallion cakes, house chow fun and veggie rice with coconut cakes for dessert. Lovely atmosphere, very reasonable prices, nice service and, despite ordering the lunch size portion, we’re going home with leftovers.

Absolutely delicious! We had the Special The Dancing Lobster and this dish alone was mouthwatering. The ginger is cut perfectly so you can enjoy a piece with each bite of lobster. We also had the General Chicken tso it was absolutely delicious, each bite crunchy and bursting with flavor. For sides we ordered House fried rice. This rice is a must it has chicken, shrimp, and beef and is the best rice I’ve had yet. Seating was fast and easy. Service was great especially for the crowd they had.
