About oriental express
Oriental Express is a Chinese restaurant located at 6063 Centreville Crest Ln in Centreville, Virginia. Operating within the platform category of Chinese Restaurants, it primarily serves the local community with a focus on takeout services. While one customer review provides insight into the food quality, another highlights the efficiency and friendliness of the service, particularly for takeout orders.
Regarding the environment of Oriental Express, detailed information is limited. One customer mentioned that they usually get their order to go and therefore could not comment on the atmosphere, except to note the positive interaction with the staff. This suggests that the primary experience for many customers might be through takeout, and details about the dine-in ambiance are not readily available in the provided reviews. However, the positive mention of the staff's kindness, efficiency, and speed implies a potentially well-organized and customer-focused operation, at least from a service perspective.
In terms of services, Oriental Express appears to prioritize fast and efficient service, especially for takeout orders. One reviewer specifically praised the staff for being "extremely kind, efficient, and fast." This suggests that customers can expect a quick and hassle-free experience when ordering and picking up their food. While dine-in service is implied by the existence of a physical location, the lack of comments on the atmosphere suggests that takeout might be the more common mode of service for this establishment. It is advisable to contact Oriental Express directly at (703) 968-9888 or +1 703-968-9888 to inquire about their dine-in options and hours, as well as any potential delivery services they might offer.
The features of Oriental Express, based on the available reviews, present a mixed picture, particularly concerning the food quality. One customer who ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Pork with Garlic combination expressed significant dissatisfaction. They reported that "all foods are oily," and specifically noted that the fried rice and egg rolls smelled of "bad-old oil," implying that the cooking oil might not have been changed for an extended period. This raises concerns about the freshness and quality of the fried items.
Furthermore, the same reviewer found the Pork with Garlic dish to be unexpectedly sweet, despite a spicy marking on the menu. They mentioned the absence of any spicy smell or taste, indicating a potential misrepresentation of the dish. Additionally, the Wonton soup was described as being excessively salty, tasting "just salt!!" This negative feedback suggests potential issues with the preparation and seasoning of multiple dishes ordered at one time.
The reviewer who experienced these issues also highlighted the cost of their order, totaling $27.45, and expressed extreme disappointment at only being able to eat the white rice, implying that the rest of the food was inedible to them. This negative experience stands in contrast to the positive feedback regarding the service for takeout customers.
The discrepancy between the positive comments on service and the negative comments on food quality is a crucial aspect to consider for potential customers. While the staff is perceived as kind, efficient, and fast, the quality of the food itself appears to be inconsistent, at least based on the detailed negative review provided. This suggests that while the operational aspects of order taking and delivery (or pickup) might be smooth, the preparation of the food may need improvement in terms of oil freshness, flavor accuracy, and seasoning.
Currently, there is no information available in the provided reviews regarding any promotional offers or special deals that Oriental Express might be running. Customers interested in potential discounts or special menu items should contact the restaurant directly. It is common for Chinese restaurants to offer lunch specials or family meal deals, so it would be worth inquiring about these possibilities when placing an order.
In conclusion, Oriental Express in Centreville, VA, offers fast and efficient service, particularly for takeout. The staff is described as kind and helpful. However, a significant concern has been raised regarding the quality of the food, with one customer reporting issues such as excessive oiliness, the use of possibly old cooking oil, inaccurate flavor profiles (sweet instead of spicy), and over-seasoning (excessively salty soup). Potential customers should be aware of these mixed reviews. While the convenience and speed of service might be appealing, the reported issues with food quality could be a significant drawback. It may be prudent to exercise caution when ordering from Oriental Express and perhaps consider ordering simpler dishes or inquiring about the freshness of their cooking oil before placing an order. For any information on promotions or dine-in options, direct contact with the restaurant is recommended.

I ordered 2 different things, kung pao chicken and pork with garlic combination. Let me tell you honestly. All foods are oily. Especially fried rice and egg rolls smell like bad-old oil. It means they didn’t change the oil for a long time. Also, pork with garlic should be little spicy (cause they put spicy mark on the menu) But it is sweet!! There were no spicy smell and taste. And wan-tang soup is salty. Just salt!! What is going on here.. even I order around 8:30 pm, they can’t sell their foods like this. I paid $27.45!! I only finished white rice!! Kidding me?
I usually get my order to go so I can't really say anything about atmosphere other than everyone is extremely kind, efficient, and fast.
O ordered chicken Hunan here. Meat is cookeded tenderly, and the accompanying vegetables is ok. However, the rice is in lower quality and contain ls too much water. Ok restaurant but I have better choices around here.
We get take out, always. It is PRICEY but the food is not overly oily like some chinese restaurant food is, and the meals seems fresh, good quality, and very flavorful with good spicing (and the food is always nice and stove hot). So maybe it's worth the extra $? We order from them regularly, so it appears we think so!
Vegan options with the mock meats are so good. Even if we get delivery the food is always steaming hot. Our go-to in the area.
