About Oriental Cafe Chinese Restaurant

Oriental Cafe Chinese Restaurant is located at 885 W Main Ave, Taylorsville, NC 28681, USA, and operates within the Chinese Restaurant category, seemingly also offering some Japanese dishes based on one reviewer's comment about "Chinese/Japanese food." For local users in Taylorsville seeking Asian cuisine, Oriental Cafe Chinese Restaurant presents itself as an option. However, recent online reviews raise significant concerns regarding food quality, order accuracy, and the handling of dietary restrictions.

Information regarding the dine-in environment of Oriental Cafe Chinese Restaurant is not provided in the available reviews. The focus of the customer feedback is entirely on the food quality and the service received during order placement and issue resolution. Therefore, local users interested in dining at the restaurant itself would need to contact Oriental Cafe Chinese Restaurant directly or visit their location to gather information about the ambiance and seating arrangements. The reviews available offer insights solely into the takeout experience and the quality of the food received.

The services at Oriental Cafe Chinese Restaurant, based on the limited reviews, appear to be problematic. One reviewer expressed extreme disappointment with their food, stating they "couldn’t even eat this." They specifically questioned the type of meat they received, stating it was "not steak," and found the carrots to taste "old and dry." Furthermore, this reviewer, who has allergies, was surprised to find shrimp inside an egg roll, despite none of their ordered items containing shrimp. This indicates a severe lack of attention to ingredient cross-contamination, which can be particularly dangerous for customers with allergies. When this customer seemingly contacted the restaurant (implied by their mention of the egg roll containing shrimp), the outcome of this interaction was not detailed.

Another reviewer's experience also highlights significant issues with order accuracy and menu knowledge. This customer ordered chow mein but received a dish with no noodles. Upon calling the restaurant, they were informed that the restaurant does not make chow mein with noodles, which contradicts the traditional definition of chow mein. The reviewer, who had positive memories of the place from their childhood, expressed confusion and disappointment at this apparent change or misunderstanding. An edit to their review further clarifies that what they received was likely chop suey, and they pointed out the traditional differences between chow mein (fried noodles) and lo mein (soft noodles), neither of which aligns with a noodle-less dish.

The features of Oriental Cafe Chinese Restaurant, based on the negative reviews, are difficult to ascertain positively. While they seemingly offer a variety of Chinese and potentially Japanese dishes, the quality and accuracy of these dishes are called into question. The issue with the "steak" being misidentified, the old and dry carrots, the inclusion of an allergen (shrimp) in a dish where it was not expected, and the fundamental misunderstanding of a common dish like chow mein all point to significant problems in the kitchen and potentially with staff training or menu understanding.

The reviewer who received the noodle-less "chow mein" did call back to the restaurant and reported that they were given "no help whatsoever at the time." This lack of resolution for a significant error in their order further reflects poorly on the customer service provided by Oriental Cafe Chinese Restaurant in this instance. The reviewer's disappointment was palpable, especially given their past positive experiences with the establishment.

Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not mention any specific discounts, special offers, or loyalty programs associated with Oriental Cafe Chinese Restaurant. Given the significant issues raised about food quality and order accuracy, it is unlikely that customers would be drawn to any promotions without assurances of improvement in these fundamental areas.

In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for Oriental Cafe Chinese Restaurant in Taylorsville, NC, paint a concerning picture. Multiple significant issues have been raised regarding the quality of ingredients (questionable "steak," old carrots), severe order inaccuracies (chow mein without noodles, potentially receiving chop suey instead), and a dangerous disregard for allergies (shrimp in a non-shrimp dish). Furthermore, the lack of helpfulness when addressing order errors is also troubling. Local users considering Oriental Cafe Chinese Restaurant should be aware of these recent negative experiences, which suggest significant problems with food preparation, menu understanding, and customer service. Given the severity of these issues, it would be prudent to exercise extreme caution and perhaps consider alternative dining options in the Taylorsville area until there is evidence of substantial improvement in the quality and accuracy of the food and service at Oriental Cafe Chinese Restaurant.

I have never been so disappointed in food. I couldn’t even eat this. I’m not sure what meat that is but it’s not steak. The carrots tasted old and dry. I also got an egg roll and being someone who has allergies I was surprised when there was a shrimp inside of it. Nothing we ordered had shrimp in it at all. I think they ruined Chinese/japanese food for me for the remainder of my pregnancy.

Ordered Chow mein. It had no noodles. When I called, I was told they don't make it with noodles. If it doesn't have noodles, it's NOT chow mein. Used to love this place as a kid. What happened? Edit: I did call back and was given no help whatsoever at the time. Also, Chow mein and Lo mein traditionally have noodles. What I received was Chop suey. Lo mein has a soft noodle, and Chow mein is supposed to have a fried noodle.

Been eating here for years. Always hot and fresh. The owner goes out of her way to accommodate special orders. And the chow miens have never had noodles in the dish. You can get crispy noodles to put top though. Worth the visit.

i ordered here for the first time yesterday evening, and the takeout was absolutely great. the portions were large, food was cooked well, and ready when i arrived. i purchased a sesame chicken, cashew chicken, and oriental chicken. after opening it and eating it, i was beyond happy with the meal for me and my family. i've looked through the reviews, particularly the bad ones, and i'm disappointed with the dishonesty in people. one of them even says that they ordered a salad? they don't even serve salads, leaving me with no idea whether or not many of the poor reviews are true. disregarding this, the oriental cafe is a great chinese place in taylorsville to go, and i will definitely be back to eat sometime soon!

I don't do this often but my food was the worst l have ever had. Sweet sour chicken. The chicken was all breading and the sauce was awful. The price on both plates was way high. I gave it 2 chances that is it!
