About 李家面食
Welcome to 李家面食 (Lǐ Jiā Miànshí), a Chinese restaurant located at 23415 Golden Springs Dr in Diamond Bar, California. Within the diverse landscape of Chinese restaurants in the area, 李家面食 appears to have garnered a reputation for its delicious and authentic home-style cooking, particularly its noodle dishes and various savory snacks. Based on the available customer reviews, this establishment offers a satisfying dining experience with generous portions and affordable prices, making it a noteworthy spot for local users seeking a taste of genuine Chinese comfort food.
The environment of 李家面食 is described by one reviewer as a "hole-in-the-wall type of family restaurant." This suggests a casual and unpretentious setting, likely prioritizing the quality and taste of the food over elaborate decor. While it might not be located on a busy street and is situated in a plaza with some vacancies, the upside mentioned is the ample parking available, making it convenient for customers to access. The overall impression is that of a comfortable and down-to-earth eatery focused on providing a genuine culinary experience.
In terms of services, 李家面食 offers dine-in options, allowing customers to enjoy their meals in the restaurant. One reviewer also mentioned the availability of Chinese breakfast on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, although the selection was noted as limited. This indicates a specific service catering to those looking for traditional Chinese breakfast items on weekend mornings and Monday. While not explicitly stated, it is reasonable to assume that takeout service is also available, given the nature of the dishes offered and the general practices of similar establishments. However, to confirm the availability of takeout or any other specific services, such as catering or reservations for larger groups, it would be best to contact the restaurant directly.
The standout feature of 李家面食, according to multiple customer reviews, is the quality of its wontons. One reviewer boldly stated that this place has "one of the best wontons in SoCal," and another update reiterated that "the wontons are still the best." The soup accompanying the wontons is also praised for its flavor and the right amount of seaweeds and cilantro. However, a crucial note for customers with shrimp allergies is that the soup contains tiny dried shrimps, and it is advisable to request that these be omitted during preparation. This attention to detail and the willingness to accommodate dietary restrictions are noteworthy aspects of their service.
Beyond wontons, 李家面食 also offers a variety of other popular Chinese snacks and dishes. The steamed buns (小笼包 - xiǎolóngbāo) and grilled buns (生煎包 - shēngjiānbāo) were described as "quite good," with one reviewer noting that while they might not be as fancy as those at Ding Tai Fung, they "sure tastes better." This suggests a focus on authentic flavor over elaborate presentation. The xiaolongbao were also mentioned by another reviewer as "decent."
Another highly recommended dish is the pot stickers, which one customer declared as "the best dish today," praising their crispiness and lean meat filling. This indicates that 李家面食 excels not only in its noodle and dumpling offerings but also in other popular pan-fried items.
The Chinese breakfast served on weekends and Mondays includes fried bread sticks (油条 - yóutiáo). However, one reviewer noted the absence of buns (烧饼 - shāobǐng), which are typically enjoyed with yóutiáo. This suggests that while they offer some breakfast staples, the selection might be limited and not all traditional pairings are available.
Pork buns were also mentioned, with one reviewer initially missing out on them due to them being sold out but later finding them to be "decent, but not great." This honest feedback provides a balanced perspective on the various items on their menu.
Additionally, the restaurant offers porridge, with the "porridge of the day" being a sweet millet porridge described as "not bad, very 'US' like." This adds another dimension to their offerings, suggesting a broader range of comforting and traditional Chinese dishes.
Overall, the customer reviews consistently highlight the tasty and authentic "mama type of cooking" at 李家面食. The food portions are described as substantial, and the prices are considered rather affordable, making it a great value for the quality and quantity offered. The positive experiences shared by multiple reviewers, with many expressing their satisfaction and intention to return and recommend the restaurant, speak volumes about the quality of the food and the overall dining experience.
Currently, no specific promotional information is mentioned in the customer reviews. As a local family restaurant, they might not heavily advertise promotions. To inquire about any current specials, discounts, or seasonal offerings, it would be best to contact the restaurant directly using the provided phone numbers.
In conclusion, 李家面食 in Diamond Bar is a Chinese restaurant that has earned positive feedback for its delicious and authentic home-style cooking. It is particularly renowned for its exceptional wontons, with other popular items including steamed and grilled buns, pot stickers, and a weekend Chinese breakfast service. The restaurant offers generous portions at affordable prices in a casual, family-friendly setting with ample parking. For local users in Diamond Bar and the surrounding areas looking for tasty and genuine Chinese comfort food, especially noodle dishes and savory snacks, 李家面食 is a highly recommended option. To learn more about their full menu, services, and any potential promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is advised.

Customer Reviews
Update: the wontons are still the best. We also tried the steammed buns (小笼包) and grilled buns (生煎包),both were quite good. Not as fancy as Ding Tai Fung, but sure tastes better. This place has one of the best wontons in SoCal. The soup flavor was just right with a right amount of seaweeds and cilantros. Note: the soup does contain tiny dried shrimps, so if you have shrimp allergy, you should ask the chef not to add the tiny white shrimps. The xiaolongbao (小笼包)were decent as well, but the wonton was superb. They also serve Chinese breakfast on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, though selection was limited. They have fried bread stick (油条), but no buns (烧饼) to go with it as they normally go together. Also, I really wanted to try the pork buns, but they ran out for the day. (Edit: we’ve returned to try its pork buns, and they were decent, but not great.) Guess I have to go back. This place is in a plaza that’s a little hard to find as it’s not on a busy street and many vacancies within the plaza, but the upside is that there were plenty of parking spaces.
Surprisingly tasty! It's a hole-in-the-wall type of family restaurant. Food portions are substantial and rather affordable in price. Taste? Authentic mama type of cooking. - Wonton: It is very good, but not the best in Socal like someone suggested. - Pot stickers: The best dish today. Very crispy and filled with lean meat. Little fat. - Porridge: porridge of the day is a sweet millet porridge. Not bad, very "Taiwan" like - Steamed bun: lots of filling. Great baos. Overall, satisfied and will be back! Recommend!
A gem of a place hidden in a partially empty strip mall along Diamond Bar Blvd. The food was absolutely delicious combined with all the spices and complimented with a fantastic house made Chinese chilli sauce. The decor is hopeless, seating arrangement is boring but the service is great and expeditious. The price is amazing!, for two the average price is around $ 20. With three spicy dishes (depending on the day of the week) and steamed rice. From the main street the place is not visible, but if you go in search of this place, all is worth. Worth for the buck!
Great food, very good service. One of our favorite relaxed places to eat. 12/20/2018 - We’ve been here several times since my first post and had good meals each time. This place can always be counted on for a good meal. Today was sour cabbage fish soup, spicy intestine and veggie Dry Pot and leek pies (always very good here!). Portions are very good and they haven’t had a price raise yet, so this place is a great value! Service is good, but it’s just a husband and wife operation, so be a little patient!
Excellent spot for baos and dumplings. Big Bao (da baozi) - A+ The bao has a delightfully fluffy texture. The daily available stuffings for the big bao are offered on a rotating basis. I got the pork and mushroom stuffing. Pork Pan Fried Bao (Shengjianbao) - A The shengjianbao also has a great fluffy texture. Flavor was also tasty and there was a little bit of soup inside. I don’t know if I really like the gyoza-like crispy lattice on the bottom though. I’m used to the bao being fried to a crisp on the bottom instead. Pork Xiaolongbao - A- Not the best I’ve ever had, but still really good. Might have suffered from the takeout travel time. Beef Rolls - A- Solid. Maybe could’ve used just a dab of hoisin sauce.
