About 避风塘

Welcome to 避风塘 (Bìfēngtáng), a Chinese Restaurant located at 8587020014, Temple City, CA 91780, USA. This establishment introduces the unique and flavorful typhoon shelter style cuisine to the local community, alongside other potential offerings. You can contact them at (626) 286-2299 or +1 626-286-2299 for reservations or inquiries. Based on the available customer reviews, 避风塘 offers a spacious dining environment, exceptionally efficient and friendly service, and generous food portions. However, one aspect to note is the potential for noise within the restaurant.

The environment of 避风塘 is described as "really nice and spacious." This suggests that the restaurant offers a comfortable and roomy setting for diners, which can contribute to a more relaxed and enjoyable meal, especially for larger groups or families. The spaciousness likely allows for ease of movement and a less crowded atmosphere compared to smaller establishments.

The services at 避风塘 are highly praised, with one reviewer noting the "super efficient and friendly service." The waiting staff is highlighted for their proactiveness, with the comment, "The waiting staff would bring us things before we even ask." This level of attentiveness and anticipation of customer needs indicates a strong commitment to providing excellent service and enhancing the overall dining experience. Such efficient and friendly service can significantly contribute to customer satisfaction and loyalty.

A key feature of 避风塘 is its specialization in "iconic typhoon shelter style cuisine." This culinary style, while perhaps less globally recognized than dim sum or cha chaan teng (Hong Kong-style cafes), is described as deserving of greater fame. It is characterized by aromatic fried seafood dishes, typically featuring crab, lobster, prawn, or clams. One reviewer enthusiastically recommends trying these dishes, stating, "Believe me or not, you will always have your thumbs up when you try typhoon shelter crab/lobster/prawn/clams, dishes full of aromatic fried seafood." This suggests that the typhoon shelter seafood is a must-try and a potential highlight of the menu at 避风塘. The same reviewer also noted that the restaurant "did a good job on the food," further reinforcing the quality of their cuisine.

In addition to the typhoon shelter cuisine, the mention of dim sum and cha chaan teng in the context of other well-known Hong Kong culinary styles might imply that 避风塘 also offers these options. However, the primary focus of the review is clearly on the typhoon shelter dishes. If dim sum and cha chaan teng items are indeed available, they could represent additional features that broaden the appeal of the restaurant to those familiar with Hong Kong-style food.

Another notable feature mentioned is the generous portion sizes. One reviewer stated that the "food is generous portion and sizes," indicating that customers can expect to receive a substantial amount of food for their order. This can be a significant factor for diners looking for good value and a satisfying meal.

However, one area where 避风塘 could improve, according to a customer review, is the noise level. The reviewer recounted an incident where "there’s a staff member playing TikTok videos loudly through the speaker on his phone" while they were dining in. This highlights a potential issue with noise management that could detract from the dining experience for some customers. While the food and service received positive feedback, attention to the ambient noise level, particularly from staff activities, could further enhance the overall atmosphere of the restaurant.

Based on the available customer feedback, the key features of 避风塘 include:

  • Specialization in Typhoon Shelter Cuisine: Offering iconic aromatic fried seafood dishes like crab, lobster, prawn, and clams.
  • Spacious Restaurant: Providing a comfortable and roomy dining environment.
  • Super Efficient and Friendly Service: Proactive and attentive waiting staff.
  • Generous Portion Sizes: Offering substantial amounts of food.
  • Potential Offering of Dim Sum and Cha Chaan Teng: While not the main focus, these Hong Kong-style options might also be available.

One potential drawback mentioned is the issue of noise due to staff activities.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information mentioned in the provided reviews. The emphasis is on the quality of the typhoon shelter cuisine, the efficient service, and the generous portions as the main draws of the restaurant. Local users interested in any potential special offers or discounts may need to contact the restaurant directly or check local listings and social media if available.

In conclusion, 避风塘 in Temple City presents itself as a Chinese Restaurant specializing in the distinctive and flavorful typhoon shelter style cuisine, particularly its aromatic fried seafood dishes. Customers can expect a spacious dining environment, super-efficient and friendly service, and generous portion sizes. While the food quality is praised, potential diners should be aware of a reported issue with noise levels from staff activities. For those looking to explore the unique flavors of typhoon shelter cooking and enjoy attentive service in a spacious setting, 避风塘 is worth a visit. If dim sum and cha chaan teng options are also available, it could further broaden its appeal to those seeking a diverse Hong Kong-style culinary experience.

Dim sum, cha chaan teng(Hong Kong style cafe) are well known around the world, but I think the iconic typhoon shelter style cuisine deserves to be famous too! Believe me or not, you will always have your thumbs up when you try typhoon shelter crab/lobster/prawn/clams, dishes full of aromatic fried seafood. This restaurant did a good job on the food. However, I hope they can be careful about the noise. When I dined in, there’s a staff member playing TikTok videos loudly through the speaker on his phone.

Order loster with noodles, it cost $160 on Christmas eve 2024, but they didn't add ginger and green onions in the food, so cheap sea food restaurant. Hopefully they closed down soon. DO NOT GIVE THEM BUSINESS, DO NOT WAST YOUR MONEY IN THIS CHEAP RESTAURANT.
