Oishi Hibachi Steakhouse

Plentiful food, two of us got the hibachi meal which we “customized “ since I do not eat shrimp - it comes with 2 - and I wanted noodles and not rice (an up charge of $2.95) and m friend had no mushrooms as he is allergic. The amount of veg was vastly different, shame since it’s one of the best parts as far as I am concerned and mine were not very plentiful. The food was not very hot either, probably better to get the “grill in front of you” option if you want it hot. The service was sketchy. The soup and salad came fast, the food not long after. Asked for chopsticks which we waited quite a while for, and we never saw another staff member until we stopped a waiter passing by and asked for a take out box and the check.

Soup had tofu in it, was a little bland, house salad was plentiful with ranch dressing. The grill cook was awesome, i for the chicken hibachi, son in law had the sushi roll godzilla. Food was very delicious and plentiful. Will be back for sure.

I wanted to enjoy this. I love hibachi. This meal was only sad. Beginning the experience off, the hostess handed us a pager that wasn't recorded, so it never want off. After waiting twice as long as we should have and complaing more than once they finally realized their mistake. The didn't realize I was part of the party and thst I noticed their mistake. They sat my party of 7 and we proceeded with our evening. I would have been fine at this point if we had got a "I'm sorry". The service was OK at this point, but was seriously absent post chef (we ate at the grill). The rice was flavorless, the vegetables (my favorite) were just ok, and the sukiyaki steak tasted flat. I got a "sushi" roll that was dry, so dry. Fortunately for them, this will be my only adventure into this place.

This place is fantastic!!! I try to go back as often as I can! The food. The atmosphere. The chefs. It's a good time. So friendly. And the jokes. I don't like that they do the bit of throwing a small bit of broccoli for someone to catch in their mouth. Wish they still did it with egg. But still one of my favorite places to eat! And the food is fantastic. Haven't had a single bad experience!!!! One of my favorite restaurants in champaign!

The owner was SO RUDE. We had a birthday party planned with a group of people, and we had reserved a large table. Some of us arrived half an hour early, but they wouldn’t let us sit at the table. Most of the group showed up on time, but they refused to give us the table, saying we couldn’t have it unless everyone was present. When the entire group finally arrived, 15 minutes after our reservation time, they had already given the big table to someone else. While we were waiting, I tried to ask if there were any vacant tables available, but the lady (I believe she’s the owner’s daughter) was incredibly rude and even asked, “Do you understand?” The man there also insisted we move from where we were standing, saying that being in front of the counter was bad for business. Eventually, they arranged two separate tables for our group—but there was no apology. On top of everything, they mandated an 18% tip.
