About Ogontz Kitchen Chinese Restaurant
Ogontz Kitchen Chinese Restaurant is located at 7613 Ogontz Ave in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, serving the local community with Chinese cuisine. For residents in the area looking for a Chinese eatery, Ogontz Kitchen is one of the available options. However, recent customer reviews provide some insights that potential diners may find useful in forming their expectations.
One reviewer mentioned that the "fried rice is good" but unfortunately did not have the opportunity to try other dishes. This limited positive feedback is accompanied by a significant concern regarding pricing discrepancies. The customer noted that the prices listed on Google were different from what they encountered at the restaurant. Furthermore, they indicated that certain items advertised as included with platters were not provided, leading to a disagreement with the staff. The reviewer's primary suggestion was for the restaurant to update its menu information on Google to reflect the current offerings and pricing accurately. This issue highlights a potential problem with transparency and could lead to frustration for customers who rely on online information.
Another customer shared their experience with specific dishes, noting that while the "food is good," the portion sizes of certain key ingredients were a point of concern. Specifically, they mentioned that both the shrimp fried rice and shrimp lo mein contained only four shrimp, with any additional shrimp incurring an extra charge. This information is crucial for customers who have expectations about the quantity of protein in these dishes. The same reviewer also reported that the beef lo mein contained only "a few bits (and i do mean bits) of beef," suggesting a very sparse amount of the main ingredient. As a result of these perceived shortcomings in portion sizes, this customer stated their intention to seek another Chinese restaurant, indicating a significant level of dissatisfaction.
Based on these two recent reviews, several key points emerge that potential customers of Ogontz Kitchen Chinese Restaurant should consider. Firstly, while the fried rice received a positive comment, there is no feedback on the quality or taste of other dishes on the menu. Secondly, there is a reported issue with the accuracy of online pricing and the inclusions of platter meals, which led to an argument between a customer and the staff. This suggests a potential lack of alignment between the restaurant's online presence and its actual practices, which could negatively impact customer experience and trust.
Thirdly, there are concerns regarding the portion sizes of protein in some of the noodle and rice dishes. The limited number of shrimp in both the shrimp fried rice and shrimp lo mein, as well as the minimal amount of beef in the beef lo mein, were significant enough for one customer to decide to find an alternative restaurant. This suggests that customers who value a substantial amount of protein in their meals might find the offerings at Ogontz Kitchen to be lacking.
From these reviews, it is difficult to ascertain information about the environment or ambiance of Ogontz Kitchen. There is no mention of the cleanliness, décor, or overall atmosphere of the restaurant. Similarly, details about the services offered are limited. One reviewer mentioned ordering and presumably picking up food (though this is implied rather than explicitly stated), suggesting takeout service is available. However, there is no information about dine-in options or delivery services.
Furthermore, no specific features or unique selling points of Ogontz Kitchen are highlighted in these reviews. The focus is primarily on the food (with mixed feedback on quality and portion sizes) and the issue with pricing and menu accuracy online. There is also no mention of any promotional offers or specials that might be available at the restaurant.
In conclusion, the recent customer feedback for Ogontz Kitchen Chinese Restaurant in Philadelphia, PA, presents a somewhat concerning picture. While the fried rice was noted as good, issues regarding discrepancies in online versus in-store pricing and the limited quantity of key ingredients like shrimp and beef in certain dishes raise significant concerns. Potential customers should be aware of these reported issues, particularly regarding portion sizes and the accuracy of the online menu and pricing. Without more positive or comprehensive feedback, it is challenging to provide a strong recommendation for Ogontz Kitchen based solely on these two recent reviews. Local users might want to consider these points carefully before deciding to patronize this establishment.

Fried rice is good but didn't get the chance to try nothing else. Because once I notice prices on Google is different. And something's don't come with the platters like it say. They just argued me down. When all I was saying is upgrade they menu on Google.
Food is good but you only get 4 shrimp in shrimp fried rice and shrimp lo mien any thing else is extra!!! and the beef lo mien had only a few bits (and i do mean bits) of beef i am going to find me another Chinese store
!!!BEWARE!!! Chicken noodle soup and an egg roll. This is the only thing I ate on 1/20/24 and 3 hours later I was vomiting violently. The food didn’t even digest. Went to urgent care and it was food poisoning. BEWARE!!!
I order general tso chicken with shrimp fried rice and a shrimp roll from off of Uber eats. It was awful I had specific instructions on how I wanted my food to be and what I asked for did not get met. I type I wanted my general tso chicken to be fried hard that didn't get done I asked for extra broccoli that didn't get done as well. What got me so mad is that when I got to the rice it tasted spoiled rotten it was over cooked and the bean sprouts in them were bad. Then I called the store to let her know what was wrong with my rice she told me you the only one that complain about my rice she said I make a lot of rice everyday and you the only one. I know what fresh food and good food taste like cause I am a chef myself so you cant tell me that the rice wasn't spoiled and my special instructions were not met. She gave me a attitude about telling her whats wrong with the food. In my opinion its not point of calling them to complain cause they don't really care in which I witnessed today. Do not order from them.
I gab some cheese steak rolls and a 4 wing rice andl Gravy omg🙌🙌🙌🫡🥰 nice little store😎
