Based on recent online reviews, customer experiences at Northland Chop Suey appear to be somewhat varied. One reviewer, who had seemingly positive past experiences, rated their recent visit a 2-star due to finding a long strand of black hair in their rice. They specified that their own hair was medium length and "cajun spice" in color, suggesting the hair did not belong to them. This incident led them to urge the restaurant staff to wear hairnets during food preparation. The reviewer noted that they had never experienced this issue at Northland Chop Suey before.
Another reviewer expressed positive feedback, particularly regarding their usual order of a "happy box." They described it as "yummy" and detailed its contents as a St. Paul sandwich patty with gravy and fried rice, effectively serving as a combination of both. This customer also mentioned that the happy box was "loaded with meat." Additionally, they praised the Crab Rangoon as "delish and hot" and enjoyed the hot wings. This reviewer also noted occasionally ordering kabobs, indicating that variety is something they appreciate about the menu at Northland Chop Suey.
These reviews offer a glimpse into the potential strengths and weaknesses of Northland Chop Suey. The positive review highlights the appeal of their "happy box," which seems to be a unique combination offering local flavor (St. Paul sandwich) with classic Chinese elements (fried rice). The praise for the Crab Rangoon and hot wings suggests that these are also popular and well-received items. The mention of kabobs indicates some menu variety beyond standard Chinese-American fare.
However, the negative review concerning the hair found in the rice is a significant food safety concern. Such incidents can severely impact a customer's perception of a restaurant's hygiene practices and overall quality. The fact that this was an unusual occurrence for this particular reviewer might offer some reassurance, but it nonetheless highlights a potential lapse in food preparation standards during that instance.
As a Chinese restaurant in St. Louis, Northland Chop Suey contributes to the local dining scene. The environment of the restaurant is not explicitly described in either of the provided reviews. The positive review focuses on the food quality and variety, while the negative review centers on the food safety issue. Therefore, no direct information about the ambiance, cleanliness (other than the implication of a lapse in hygiene leading to the hair in the food), or decor of the establishment can be gleaned from these comments.
The services offered by Northland Chop Suey can be inferred to include takeout, as both reviewers mention picking up or ordering food. The "happy box" suggests a specific combination meal that might be popular for takeout. Whether they offer dine-in or delivery services is not mentioned in these reviews. Customers interested in these options would need to contact the restaurant directly.
Features of Northland Chop Suey, based on the reviews, include the "happy box," a combination meal featuring a St. Paul sandwich patty, gravy, and fried rice, which appears to be a unique and well-liked offering. Their Crab Rangoon and hot wings also seem to be popular. The availability of kabobs suggests some menu variety beyond typical Chinese-American dishes. I rated a 2 star this time is because I found a long strand of black hair in my rice. I pulled it from my mouth. My hair is medium length , color cajun spice. Please wear a hair net when cooking and preparing the food. I’ve never experienced this before here.
I usually get a happy box and it's 😋 yummy if u like St Paul's it's the pattie with gravy and fried rice... so it serves for both...it was loaded with meat also...crab Rangoon are delish and hot wings hit too..every now n then I get a kabob... variety is my thing.
This food was trash. The rice was overcooked and gummy. I have never had Chinese food that tastes so horrible in my life. I would never go there again.
So I normally go some where else for my rice but it was late no one else was open and they were about to close in ten minutes. I said my rice was gone nasty cause it’s late and cheated on my ingredients….But honey let me tell you I had all my meats and extra egg like I asked fir and it was awesome I was very satisfied
Lmbo…. Smh… If my memory serves me correctly ain’t this the same family. That was in Northland Shopping Center that was caught on the news. Of using pets as food? My cousin went here Saturday evening and came back to my place to ask me do I want some food… I asked where from and he said Northland Chop Suey! I just stared at the food. Felt like I wanted to faint…. I said no. Enjoy every bite. I’ll tell you a story later on.
